Hi Gilda. Your studio is awesome!!! I was wondering how do you make your wax? Would you be able to write the recepie for it? I am using the waxs from the shop and they are so expensive therefore would like to make my own. Thank youuuu

Hi Gilda! I am in the process of learning how to use the encaustic medium, and was wondering what medium you use to mix the oil paints into. Do you make your own medium with wax and resin? If so, where would you say is the best place to purchase it? I will try using just oil paint (as I always have that handy) and that will help cut the cost for me which is important. Thanks!
Gilda! Wow, thank you for sharing your everything. I've only been involved in encaustic for the last 3 or 4 years, painting like 7, and had my mother now for 45 years. I figure never apologize for ones studio's condition.
I am working in encaustic and trying experimental stuff with it. Which wax do you use? I have just got some langridge wax and crystals and it is really lovely. it melted to a lovely golden colour. Love your studio.
This studio space is almost empty...I have moved out after 10 years, and will hopefully have my painting set-ups going by the middle of January in a new space. Will keep you posted!
Wow, what a studio. It looks like you have several inches of wax build up all over the place- awesome. I'm betting your stuff is way more archival than a lot of those Rauschenberg transfers- then again, he could get away with being experimental with the materials.
Hi Gilda, I really like the videos I have seen thus far. Though I anticpate all well be good. During the drab days of Winter color is welcome and flowers are cheerful. The intallation & and sighing of the beam for that dedicated lady was fantastic! May peace never cease!!! The dancing poet.
Gilda, This is so funny. As I watched this video, I started to SMELL encaustic! LOL LOL I remember so vividly, going to your studio and smelling the smell. It is such an identifiable smell. OH MY GOSH. Those photos are of your mother?? When I saw them, I thought they were pics of Myra or Donna!!
Archival?? Hmmmm. I am not sure that is such an issue now. Just curious... How are you printing the photos? Are those archival? What is your digital printing process?
Amazing artist. Amazing work.
