Just update to 4.3.3 you do not need to be jailbroken on any idevice... I am jailbroken and used displayout from cydia when I have display out activated and connect my cable to the tv display out gives me a notification when I load a video or anything that is video format that apple already has this capability please turn off display out to optimize your performance. Works fine on my iPhone 4 and outputs 1080p off 4.3.3 update regardless of the jailbreak as for displayout from cydia only does

Worked great make the ipad hdmi out work just like ipad2 without the cydia apps that are a pain in the ass to get to work correctly.

@bigsteamfan It had a case on it and it sounded like it landed on carpet. That won't cause much harm if at all. I accidentally dropped my iPhone 4 on tile before and it didn't do anything but make little scratches on the metal band. I wouldn't do it over and over again on purpose and I've gotten a case since then. At least he uses the money he gets to make videos for us.
