omg I thought I was the only one who ever loved this game, man oh man, thank u lord for having people like u guys. Ign sucks sometimes. And I miss that big south american accent speaking badguy he was freakin funny
I want to know just what the hell IGN saw in this game that made it get such a bad review... cause... seriously... i see greatness here, not a pile of crap like they made it sound. long live god hand.
@MrLoadingscreen Some would argue differently. The only real differences in the games are that melee weapons are used instead of your fists. And you do get weapons that allow you to punch enemies in DMC and GoW as well.
the only thing this game lacks is some kind of aerial attack, like in Devil May Cry, it's just so satisfying to throw enemies into the air jump land some combos in their faces and end up with a fierce finisher on the ground, but oh well, solid game noneles!
Cool, actually decent review of Godhand, except it only got 8/10? I didn't hear anything bad about the game in this review, so why did it lose 2 points? This is the best game of its kind
@kazuyasays gamespot simply thinks it's a great game, not a perfect game, but I really think it deserves a 9, this is an example of a good 3D beat-em-up, my only problem is that the enviroment is UGLY, but I guess the reason why it only got an 8 is because it just revived and refreshed the beat-em-up genre, it didn't really add anything totally new that raised the standard for gaming unlike super mario galaxy which really is different from all the other 3D platformers.
@kazuyasays Think about what 9/10 means. Almost perfect. 10/10 means perfect. God Hand may be great in scope of 3D beat-em-ups but in terms of all of gaming, is it a perfect game? Could there not have been anything better about it?
Out of all of the games I have ever played, this is the one that has completely solidified its place as a grand game, the gameplay is so dynamic that it's a genre-defining game, and as for all of gaming in general, this is one of those games that is a work of art during the era.
@kazuyasays well the graphics are not perfect for sure as well as the story and voice acting can be very silly! I personally love this game but an 8 is certainly not a bad score its very good actually!
@link1stheman I dunno, it's not that kind of game. The game isn't about graphics or story, I think that Clover achieved everything they set out to do, the game is a masterpiece. There was nothing to compete with it at the time, and nothing to compete with it now, not in this genre. 8/10 is a positive score, but I don't think it reflects what God Hand achieved.
@kazuyasays nope I just started a few days ago, its suprising really Ive been playing action/fighting games like dmc and ninja gaiden for years but had NOOOO idea how good this one was!
"Long"? You can beat the game in a couple hours. Unless you spend half a day at the casino trying to get a million dollars to buy all the move upgrades, the game is just the right length. By the last level, you start to get a LITTLE bit tired, but you know it's almost over by then.
But this is an excellent review, even if the guy doesn't seem toreally like the game all that much. It's fair and mostly accurate.
lol I just finished playing no more heroes 2 desperate struggle then I thought about gene, who else beats a bunch of baddies up in an awesome way? so I played the game on my ps2, now I only have two questions, will there be a sequel? and who would win in a fight, travis or gene? XD
well its too bad for you that this game summed its self up nicely with Gene having both hands and no room for a second game. Though you can always pray for a spiritual successor.
@party999999 "No room for a second game"? Are you kidding? The game's ending pretty much tells you to expect a sequel when it says "There might be another Azel someday" and "Now we have two of these God Hands to defend!".
If Clover hadn't shut, I expect we'd already have a God Hand 2 on the PS3. It's Capcom's call though, and I don't think they're interested.
With two God hands on Gene there is no room for a second devil hand, whom Azel used to get to the earthly plain. I guess there could be room for one, but it would involve more arm-loss. To me though it just felt nicely finished and a second game would just be redundant. But had it exisisted I would buy a PS3 just to play it XD
@party999999 Though the game had a lot of memorable cutscenes, I wouldn't say the plot was particularly memorable, or that it had much depth beyond the basic "beat up baddies" idea. I don't think many fans of the original would be upset if a cheap storytelling device was used to set-up a sequel.
@icyrazor Platinum and Clover aren't the same company. Clover was part-owned by Capcom. When Capcom closed them down, a lot of the staff went elsewhere, but the majority formed Platinum.
I think the closest we'll likely get is MadWorld, unfortunately. I still replay God Hand, though. If they'd included a "New Game+" mode that let you keep all your upgrades and moves from your last game, I don't think I'd ever stop playing the same old levels.
I'll get it when I get a Wii along with No More Heroes. Hopefully Bayonetta will do well enough for them to do more on the 360/PS3 in the future. I've read that there's some Platinum/Grasshopper horror game coming sometime. No idea what guise that will take though. As far as I see Killer 7 is a horror game so I want some crazy shit.
omg I thought I was the only one who ever loved this game, man oh man, thank u lord for having people like u guys. Ign sucks sometimes. And I miss that big south american accent speaking badguy he was freakin funny
