I think when a person chooses to engage in violent activities then they will change how the brain is thinking and will show different SPECT scans, because they are thinking differently than the normal person.but a real physical handicap like the child with the cyst, is not in their control, just like a blind person is not in control of seeing. But I don't feel the child that murdered his parents and school mates was NOT in control. He was and thinks differently, lacks empathy so his scan differs

Yes, you are correct. I have seen Dr. Amen on public television talk about not only medication, but coupling it with therapy, counseling, excercise, diet and other behavioral therapy. In some cases, the medication is temprorary until the brain starts to become healthier through a healthy lifestyle.
It is too bad that it cost 3,000 plus to be diagnosed at your clinics. People need you and you charge prices that they cant afford. Please lower you SPECT test prices.
@Vegheadsrock I wish health insurance would cover these things more. For those of us self employed, we cannot afford family coverage for anything less than a $10,000 deductible....and labs are only partially covered.
I think this is a step forward but not the full solution. I mean just to look at a scan & decide a treatment based on the scan alone doesn`t consider why the brain is functioning like it is. For ex, if someone is abused, part of the brain may shut down so instead of giving med. or supplements as the Dr. suggested, the person needs to get out & learn to stay away from abusive ppl. If part of the brain has shut dwn due to drugs, med. & supplements aren`t the answer, and so on.

They weren't born that way, but they developed into this state.
