  • Damn, that's great!

  • @Hb35Jazz Thank you for your encouraging comment. Oddly, I created this arrangement awhile back and I don't play it very often. I have to take the time and get it back under my fingers. Enjoy.

  • Yeh Shmidt did use this too.Have you seen the gold inlay version. Its glam b4 glam.

  • Yes, plastic was a new material in the 1920/30s. Oscar Schmidt and other manufacturers like May Bell, went over the top in some cases with mother of toilet seat. I have seen one period guitar that was entirely covered except for the back of the neck and sound board. Enjoy.

  • @KeniLeeBurgess

I thought the guitar in the vid had mother of toilet seat, like in your 'swine flu' vid... did you later get this one re-done with faux MOP veneers?

...cause the purfling and finish seems to match....

  • @RascalKyng Thank you for your question. This Stella I owned before the MOP Stella and sold it on ebay. See video:

Charlie Patton and Stella Guitars Bottleneck Slide Blues

I am currently selling this parlor guitar on ebay with MOP:

FOR SALE: Vintage Supertone Guitar / bottleneck slide blues hawaiian slack key

    Enjoy.

  • Thank you. I sold this guitar last week on Ebay. Recently, I posted another Stella on Ebay. If you would like to view it, go to ebay and Search: Keni Lee. Enjoy.

  • Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed my arrangement.

  • It´s always a joy to see and hear you play!

    Ulli

  • Thank you for your continued interest and kind words Ulli. It certainly is a joy to be here, and have the opportunity to make so many friends across the world. Enjoy.

  • I just love your stuff,Ihave loved blues for 40 years everything thats thought of as new started with the walking blues

and you show love with every slide you make .Keep posting and i will keep listening

  • Thank you for the kind words, and your encouragement. Stay tuned. More videos on the way. Enjoy.

  • Love the feel. Pretty sure if I tried this one, it would be in key of G or A, since I don't think I can pull off singing it in C#.

  • Thank you. You bring up a very important point that many guitar players don't consider. You always play in the key to match the vocalist voice. I think that is the major problem most guitarist have. They don't transpose the songs they play. They try to force the voice to match the guitar. Been there. lol. Had to learn this the hard way like everyone else. Enjoy.

  • Simply Fantastic

  • Thank you.

  • Yes, yes, yes...Another fine performance. 5*s (not that you care about that) lol

  • Thank you. Well, as you know, it is always better to hear good news. I'm glad you enjoyed this song. Take care.

  • great dude!!!

  • Thank you.

  • amazing cover....like being transported in time....

  • Thank you. Unfortunately, maybe a little too realistic now with a Depression like economy. Better days in 2009. Happy New Year!

  • Keni,

I like Dylan's version, and Muddy Waters version is pretty hot too.

As always, you do a great job on this one yourself.

    Is this in open G?

Happy New year, Keni Lee, keep up the good work.

Enjoying the music and playing for me, is an end in itself.

Wanting to and not being able to play more complex stuff right now doesn't get in the way of enjoying what I can do.

Adding a little every day courtesy of teachers like you enhances my guitar time.

Have you finished your tube doc/film yet?

    Rich

  • Thank you. I'm in Vestapol Key of C#. Please see the info on the right. You are absolutely correct, it is all about enjoying the experience. Things need not be complicated to be satifying. Usually, when we get something, we want another. A vicious cycle. I try to enjoy the food that is in my mouth. The Documentry is in production. Stay tuned. Happy New Year!

  • Great. Is it a Gibson L2 ?

  • Thank you. No, this is a 1930 Oscar Schmidt Stella guitar that I bought on ebay for $250. My friend, Jimmy restored it. New tuners, nut, bridge, and braces. Internally it was repaired in the past, using popsicle sticks and clothes pins. lol.

  • Great job as always Keni. I can listen to you sing all day.

  • Thank you. I'm currently learning to use software for writing music tablature. So, hopefully in the near future, songs like this one, will be written down and available. Happy New Year.

  • Enjoyed that, tune is an old fav. I love the old Johnny Shines and Snooky Prior version. You do and ace job with it. Happy New Year!!!

  • Thank you. Recently, I've been trying to arrange songs to the way I sing them A cappella. Guitar accompaniment in a supporting manner. Filling in the blanks with fills and licks. Trying to get the melody line the way I want it. There are so many ways to arrange the same song. I've been trying to get a better understanding of this process. Happy Holidays! Enjoy.

  • Just outstanding! Lots of fun. What'd ya play it on? HNY, my friend.

  • Thank you. I'm playing my rebuilt 1930 Oscar Schmidt Stella. It is featured in this video, Charlie Patton and Stella Guitars Bottleneck Slide Blues Happy New Year! Cheers.

Where ever you stand, that is right where you are. Blah...blah...blah...you know what I mean. Certainly much more than, just a cabbie in plymouth uk. Enjoy your life. Cheers!!!

    Ken

  • Thank you. Please remember to feel free to write if you have any questions as you work through the lessons. Please continue to post. Happy New Year! Cheers!

  • So do I, thanks for the birthday gift.

That guitar sure sounds crunchy. Could it be that that halftone down adds to that effect? Tension change and such?

  • Thank you. You bring up a good point. I usually like to sing in c, c#, or d in vestapol tuning. I'm using medium gauge strings, but I replace the first two strings with a .018 and a .016. When I tuned this guitar up, the string tension at c# seemed to make it ring. String gauge and tuning are definately interdependent. Happy New Year! Cheers!

  • I like it

  • Thank you. Happy New Year! Cheers!
