Tourists spots in every country, or almost every country, are targets for pickpocket thieves.I live in Madrid for quite some time now and i can assure you outside areas that are visited by tourist those crimes are not common at all.

It all depends on how well the area is monitored by the police force, which in our case i can't say is incompetent, but at the same time they are lazy aswell.I am really sorry you had to go thro such experiences in the metro areas.

While there are people who diss me for being american/foreign, there are others who really are helpful despite their possible dislike. Im from Spain, I indeed live in spain, and all I can say is that this country sucks hard, really hard. People from madrid are just ASSHOLES; if they see a foreigner, theyll try to fuck them over. Mostly taxis, they get you to the place via the longest path, and even make you pay more. Pff, I couldnt even finish this, so ill just let it go. I love your show dodger!! Dodger, that is no surprise. I live in Spain. The police is terrible, what Amanda did (although it seems crazy) is the right thing. The police here in spain spends their time drinking and chatting - So if you ever get pickpocketed in Spain, thats exactly the right thing to do, follow the person and get your stuff pack.

@BreakItLikeItsHot Police do nothing because unless the pick-pocketeer has lifted an amount more than 400 euros, the only thing they can do is get the stuff back and wave the thief good bye. And since Amanda had already done that, no point. When she said that the police told dodger "they knew about her" is that they probably have gone after her before, but they couldn't arrest her. That's why pickpocketing here in spain is so big, bc unless you've stolen 400+ euros, you can't get arrested.
