Waylon had promised BJ he'd do an album of his songs. He never got around to it and one Day BJ ran into him in Nashville and told him "You're gonna' make that album you promised or I'm gonna' whup your ass." Billy Joe said Waylon "bucked up" a little but it never came to blows. Waylon did the album and it was his biggest seller.
I have Billy Joe's and Eddie's CD entitled "SHAVER" autographed by both of them. I'll treasure it always.
Yea i heard somethin along them lines before, Lol, they were for real big buddies tho they are both my favourite performers and i got to see Waylon in LOndon.. and there ain't anyone suffered in the same way BJS has suffered and fought back he must be a real stubborn s.o.b but what a guy. I bet you treasure that album till you ''pop your clogs'' god bless
This is the type of song that you always associate with someone:and I just love the way Waylon gets you every time He just has it.Period. It's beautiful.
I agree with you michaelsacoma! One other person I don't think we want to forget in Waylon's career is Kris Kristofferson. Don't get me wrong I love Billy Joe Shaver too!
Ray i was lucky enough to see KK not to long ago in Manchester, England, we even named our youngest son after KK and he is 30 years old now, i have been a fan for a long time.i call him a 21st century poet his words are often magic and warming . But i have to say Waylon is No 1.
I agree on Waylon being No 1 as far as the singing goes. In fact some of my friends say KK can't sing, I don't neccessarily agree but Waylon rocks with singing and writing (in that order) KK shines more on the writing end of things. Only my humble opinion!!
I have been lucky enough to see Billy Joe twice in concert, (and after one show, had his autobiography "Honky Tonk Hero" signed by the Billy Joe himself, which I treasure). Waylon always covered Billy Joe's songs so well.
