  • that is huge 7 stories tall from what I can see. thats a lot of money. Scott (BUG)

  • The scientific odds of an uncontrollable black hole occurring are 500,000 to 1 the scientist say.

  • This is remind me Half life..

  • for fuck sake who gave a minus point thats a line from half life!

  • prepare for unforeseen consequences............

  • Right now the republicans are worried that if people like it to much. People will think of new ways to use this great invention. Like use it to make energy. This would solve our energy problem and corruption. No oil means no corruption. No corruption and oil mean no mney for Bush and Dick. But they still want to know if it can be used to find a new weapon. They've done research on this before on smaller scales but i think this one is the largest one ever. Hope it works and they find new energy.

  • do some digging . you may find we have had free energy just as long as we've had atomic weapons ...,

  • Its not just americans who believe that it will cause a black hole. Theres not even close to enough energy to cause one. It takes a entire supergiant(a fucking huge sun) to even cause a small black hole after it implodes. Black holes are what holds the universe together and their is one in each galaxy. We proably need to nuke a star to make a black hole. This is just scientist trying to figure out stuff. Then they get expliot by governments. How else do you think they got the money to make it.

  • The threat of creating a black hole here is very real my friend, they have done the research, and if two protons collide perfectly head-on at this speed, it would make one... a star uses gravity to get enough energy, this would use momentum. The difference is, this black hole would be so small, it would almost immediately evaporate from Hawking Radiation, if HR exists cont.

  • There is no real reason to fear this happening, the odds one are created are small, and if it does, the Earth will be destroyed in about 6 months, and death will visit us quickly and, mostly, painlessly.

  • I'll think you'll find goverments have been secretly doing ATLAS experiments for decades to unlock secrets that they maybe able to exploit for military use.

We will not get sucked into a blackhole, like all your American retards believe...now STFU!

  • has anybody a HL2 map of this .... fits to the black mesa story...

  • Everybody will die because a black holle will swallow the earth!!!!!!!, the supermasive particle higs will create a chain reaction and destroy the world!!!, remember more almost the speed of the light, more mass will have the particle. Pls answer me.

  • People are idiots who think we are all gonna die. It's a slim chance it would prduce one.

  • I think the higgins exist in 5 flavors for each lepton, only the electron is free from mass.

  • Plus, if a Blackhole was created, they'd evaoprate quickly. Lemme find the cern Expert site.

  • As the architect and overseer of the LHC, I assure all of you that there is nothing to worry about. 12/12/2012 is the slated date for our last experiment concerning the elusive "God's Particle."

There is nothing to worry about. Systems are...nominal.

  • The scientists themselves said they don't really know what'll

happen once they start the experiment. Basically, atoms will

be accelerated as close to light speed as possible at many times the mass.

  • Wait, isn't Geneva the biggest center of occult in the world...what a marvelous coincidence!

  • Yes CERN want to open a gate way to another dimension with the LHC so they can import magical goblins and 70 foot badgers that will steal your soul. And other such illogical nonsense.

  • If the experiment consequently failed will be created a black hole that would swallow the Earth!

  • you're not well informed

  • u must be wondering how i invented all this..well a lot of hard work!!

    ahahaha

  • Watch out for Gordon Freeman :)

  • After a trip to black mesa in Half life 2 last week, i rather not see this thing fuctioning :p

  • Jeez, that thing's so BIG.

  • messing about with stuff they dont fully understand.

they don't give a fuck about us when it all goes tits up & they create a monster

  • ... that what humans also thought about fire i guess....

  • I heard they already confirmed the existance/ discovered Higgs with the old LHC which was destroyed to make this one... but it was kept quiet as otherwise they would loose their funding for ATLAS otherwise.

    Anyone heard anything of this?

  • There isn't an old LHC...

  • One of those orange support structures collapsed last month.Which fills me with faith in the engineers

  • Hey, don't blame the engeneers for faulty construction...

  • Can't you see what they are doing???

  • Time travel, and a weapon.

  • Hush everyone...you won't feel a thing.

  • The last big bang was caused by a civilization that evolved and wondered where it came from and one day they turned on the switch and...bang...and now the cycle continues and its our turn...fun eh...

  • DAMN SHITS CRAZY WE CRAZY EH?

  • Don't be so arrogant to the point of thinking that will happen in your timeline :p

Such spectacular event (wich could happen) should only occur with technology so advanced that would only exist in hundreds of years from now..

  • this whole thing makes me very paranoid. what if hawking radiation doesnt work? it hasnt been proven! someone plz put my mind at rest

  • What are the real life implications of this work? You know, for those of us that don't live on the quantum level. Transportation? New fuel? Medicine?

  • depends on what you mean by "real life". for one, we'll know how electroweak symmetry is broken, why the universe has matter-antimatter asymmetry, the origin of dark matter etc. if you mean by technology spin offs of these massive scientific undertakings -- it won't be obvious inventions, but large improvements in technologies already in use in modern daily life.

  • LHC = Quantum Black Hole Factory = End of Earth

  • Don't worry it not the end of the world! The simple fact that cosmic rays of much higher energies than the LHC can produce have been bombarding the Earth, Moon and other objects in the solar system for billions of years with no such effects.

  • You're opening the ARC >:O hahaha

  • it wont be too long till they creat tiny black holes,, but nopthing to the point where it will destroy the world lol

  • I cant wait for the LHC to come online next year. Hopefully they find another dimension or something! It's possible!

  • we'll get the higgs first though.. it should be around 150-200 GeV. we'll probably detect signs of supersymmetry next up on the energy scale and maybe after that we might see signatures of extra dimensions.

  • is there any danger with this experiment? what if there are extra dimensions and hawking radiation doesnt happen? plz put my mind at rest sir
