Uh yeah, saying Korean and Japanese is the same thing is like saying German and Jewish is the same thing. Fundamental differences in culture, langauge, and history. Given how proud Koreans generally are and telling them they're similar to Japan would piss them off, especially since Japan had taken over Korea during WWII and some Koreans still hate Japan.

So no, Korean and Japanese is NOT the same.
