I was wondering how you got your precious raccoon and where it is legal to have one. I have always wanted something like that, (raccoons, foxes, skunks) and there is a place in INdiana that sells all three! This was my Zorra. For over 5 years she also was a happy, content friend. She hiked with me, always had an open back door (never caged). Loved her beyond words. A jackass, Jon Jolicoeur, who didn't know her and barely knew me reported her to the CO Div of Wildlife out of evil spite. I turned my world inside out to get her back (made me leave the state in 2 hours). The stress was too much and she died a week later. People need to understand these intelligent, emotional animals better.
Great video! Willie is a very happy, content friend. Ignore the grief you get - too many people just do not understand animals beyond our domestic species anymore. Not everyone can or should have a raccoon as a pet; they are extremely high maintenence. When it works, it works - but not without a lot of dedication.

...if it's cold enough, they will sleep for two winters. this was actually filmed in the summer, and all the 'snow' you see here mostly confetti and powdered sugar.

Its a shame that you dont know just how much you are loved & adored until after you die.
If anything happened to the great Actor in these films, all of the Raccoon Willie films would shoot up to the top of youtubes all-time watch list. There would be crowds of crying mourners lining the streets of Kansas City. Pictures of Willie with candles all over Damygeebo's porch and yard.

this is no wild coon. he has a harness on. which proves somebody owns him. thats why this guy can get so close to him. because his owners have tamed him.
me and my little brother timmy once came across a kitty cat in a harness in the forest by our house. we didnt film it though. it probably was owned by the old man next door.

to get all our great close-ups, we shoot exclusively with a Fujinon HA10X5B-W50 HD zoom, which is the same rig used for all the PBS Nature films.
Raccoons are extremely dangerous and reclusive, and can only be shot from far away. When threatened, these animals hurl themselves like projectiles from a small canon. I've seen this particular animal take out fat black women from distances of no less than 180 meters.
Believe me, it's not pretty.
