  • one of my saddest scenes. Hell, both when Hicks and Newt were cremated and when Ripley sacrificed herself to kill the Alien. I tear up every time when I watch Alien 3. Fincher is a boss behind the camera...

  • I almost forgot to mention, that Elliot Goldenthal should've been nominated for the Best Music Score Oscar, as this cue and "Lento" were the 2 most emotional pieces in the entire film.

  • Brilliant movie, underrated, not as good as the first two but a lot better than resurrection

  • @SLopyshOOter1497 I've said this myself countless times to alot of people, that "Alien 3" (mainly referring to the extended Assembly Cut version) is many times better than "Alien Resurrection", which that film basically shits all over Ripley's self-sacrifice.

  • @DrQuagmire1 Well, I think resurrection is still good but what both the third and fourth films did was eliminate the purpose and theme of it's predecessor, aliens was about survival and either way, most of the got killed off right at the start of the third one and ripleys death was quite a powerful part but resurrection spoils that a bit, out of ten, alien 10/10 aliens 10/10 alien 3 8/10 alien resurrection 6/10

  • @SLopyshOOter1497 While I admit it's a bit better than the AVP films (at least before the ridiculous Newborn is introduced), it's still nowhere near the classics that the prior 3 films are. Besides, if anything, Resurrection pretty much stole parts from Twohy's old "Alien 3" script (i.e. Packard discovering dormant Aliens/Ripley-8 discovering failed clones)

  • Best piece of music from the film, period. And I'll say this about "Alien 3": I think that it was a lot better than most people say. It's certainly better than "Alien: Resurrection" and the "Alien vs. Predator" films. It was dark and gritty and frightening (the way it was meant to be) and I always felt that it should have ended with Ellen Ripley's death.

  • I happen to think 3 was as good as the first one, because all they had was heart and soul to fight this thing.

  • Very good and moving film score. Too bad I don't care much for the movie. Fox really dropped the ball with this one. The first two movies are great. After "ALIENS" the franchise went to crap.

  • This is from the scene in the movie where they cremate the late Corporal Hicks and Newt. Not the scene where she falls into the fire to kill herself and the alien queen. Adiago is the music used in the last scene.

  • @neo1mantra , you just contradicted yourself.

  • @NoFateButWhatWeMake4 How did I contradict myself? I guess I did! I was referred to Lento, which is another very emotional piece of music. I loved this soundtrack from the moment I heard it in 93. I had it on tape thats how old skool I am. Cheers.

  • @neo1mantra lento

  • @neo1mantra i have the soundtrack, the background music for newt and hick's cremation is the first introduction of this epic theme, however, still within a different track. the theme then returns in this incarnation to reprise the falling into the fire idea

  • @neo1mantra Ahem. You are listening to Adiago.

  • this was a very sad movie...it was good, but probably the most depressing and bleak out of the entire series

  • @BossHossGT500 That's why it's a great movie - as dour as Alien is scary and Aliens is exciting.

  • Who will be the Kolumbus of space?

  • epic !!

  • Such a warm bittersweet piece. I love it!

  • 1 person must jump in the furnace .

  • Ripley, think of all we can LEARN from it.. ITS THE CHANCE OF A LIFETIME! YOU MUST LET ME HAVE IT.. ITS A MAGNIFICENT SPECIMEN..

  • Underrated movie is underrated

  • why does the best games movies get left behind things like dino crisis aliens-so on.

  • 0:49 - morse, helpme

    beautifull soundtrack, i love Alien

  • I previously owned Alien Anthology (Blu-Ray), but recently sold it when the first two films became available individually. Since doing so, however, I've realized that Alien 3 was an important part of my film collection that deserves to return (can't say the same for the fourth film [total loss]) to its previous spot. If little else, Alien 3 is unquestionably one of the most agonizingly depressing films ever created by man (Goldenthal may, in fact, be more than mortal, based on this score).

  • @unwittingnemesis Alien - scares, Aliens - excitement, Alien 3 - melancholy. It's a really underrated film.

  • was bishop an android in this because after he got hit his ear was fucked up but im sure he was bleeding not the white stuff but blood

  • @itsandy88 I didn't know about that... Better I didn't. What are those Hollywood people thinking? :(

  • @gorantokio i might be wrong lol thats why im asking

  • @itsandy88 Yeah, in the assembly cut Bishop II is human, but that was re-written for the theatrical cut, in which Bishop II's an android. If you count AvP (as I do), the human Bishop died in 2004. The Bishop androids are effigies of Weyland Industries' founder.

  • 1:24 Fuck, that sends shivers down my spine.

  • Ripley threw herself into the fires in order to once and for all vanquish the terror out of this universe. And as she fell down closer and closer to the fiery abyss, the creature that was to that point growing inside of her, feeling that this unexpected doom is at hand, attempts to escape. But the warrior that is Lt. Ellen Ripley grabs hold of it, swearing not to let go. Never to let go. They fall. A glorious death... A final stroke... That is, until Alien Resurrection was made. :P Hollywood.

  • @gorantokio They kind of messed up that scene in the Special Edition by not having it do that; I mean the sound editing for the score wasn't even handled properly.

  • My favorite piece of that music for "Alien 3".

  • OMG! This is the scene that made me cry like the thirteen year old boy I was at the time :( and :D

  • such an emotional piece, and i couldn't give a shit at the fanboys who over the years have dissed me for loving this film, it was the first Alien film i got to see in the cinema, on my 18th birthday, and it was incredible.

This piece of music and the scene it accompanies always brings a tear to my eye.

Such a shame David Fincher still won't talk about it, he should be proud that despite all the odds stacked against him, he delivered an underrated masterpiece.

  • @eternia75 Fincher's actually quite proud of the film, it's just it was a son-of-a-bitch for him to make, so understandably finds it uncomfortable to talk about.

  • @Litshttam - would like to read the article in which he says he is proud.

I went to an Aliens Convention at the Space Centre in September of this year, met some of the cast of ALIENS, listened to their stories etc, Ricco Ross was a true gent..i asked the guy who was on the panel why Fincher didn't do anything on the DVD/Blu Ray releases and he just made a face and said, " he regards it as not being his work so he wants nothing to do with it " .so sad, as i think it's a terrific film.

  • Looks like Mr. Dillon's gotta re-educate the brotha that disliked this video.

  • @sulacomarine AMEN!

  • 1:10 FUCKING ANDROID.

  • Bishop:you still can have a life , children, and best of all you'll know it's dead.

Ripley:What garentee do i have, once you take it out that you'll destroy it ?

Bishop: you have to trust me, Please, Trust me ?

    Ripley:NO!!!

  • 4:10 *blump*

  • Think of ALL we could learn from it, it's the chance of a life time!

Oh wait my ears' come loose.

  • @TimothiusOdin ' Do you think they give a shit about a bunch of lifers who found God at the arse-end of space?' Pure Class...ALIEN 3- Totally underrated movie!

  • 1 person has a super face-hugger in his face.

  • Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .... see you for the sequel!

  • 1:24

"Ripley,,think of all we can learn from it...its the chance of a lifetime, you must let me have it, its a magnificent speciman..."

    2:01

    "what are you doing"

    2:06

    "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

  • @maxusgyaos 2:20: "sssshhhplosh/crunk!!"

  • @maxusgyaos Exactly!! LOVE this part!

  • @maxusgyaos I LITERALLY got goosebumps during this scene. Very, VERY emotional scene.

  • @JMDNelson Yes it was a very emotional scene in movie history.

  • @maxusgyaos you are crazy nooooooo directors cut :)

  • Man....every time I watch, Alien, Aliens, or Alien 3. For about a good 2hrs afterward, i'm always looking over my shoulder. I not afraid of the movies, but "DAMN" they always leave, a lasting impression on me!!!!!

On day over my friends, house after we watched Aliens, we started playing Tekken. And every min or so, I would look around the room, or out the window. My friend pause and was like "THE FUCK U DOING'!!!!! "DAMNIT NOW I'M DOING IT!!!" Once again great LASTING IMPRESSION! XD

  • what's the name of the song playing when Hicks and Newt

    are threw into fire?

  • @tiiito1988 lento

  • @tiiito1988 Lento

  • EPIC

  • I admit, watching this movie the first time I thought it to be a sack of garbage. However, after watching it a few more times it eventually grew on me.

  • If I ever have to kill myself, Ill be listening to this while I do it =]

  • @MylifeforOdin well at least weaver chose not to do aliens anymore until alien resurrection

  • what is she doing? nooooooooooooooo

  • wonderful. just wonderful.

  • "Weyland-Yutani"

  • This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off.

  • Just listening to this song almost makes me cry. Best ending music ever!

  • @MylifeforOdin That is no explanation or reason. I think Weaver and the writers were just being pricks to be honest.

  • I love this SO much! This is very great movie. Shame that it's so underrated.

  • Si no fuera por la película...

  • Hicks and Newt :(

  • One of the most amazing and moving scores I have experienced in movies!

  • love the movie and absolutely love the score, just beautiful. david fincher did a fuckin amazing job directing the thing given the fact he didn't have a finished script to work with, also this probably could have been ten times better if they had the time to evolve the script into something they thought was brilliant.

  • the film is to un even as its to down beat and grim but then to over dramatic and over stylized the film never finds a balance and the chase at the end is so verry dull i wish thay would do another alien movie that picks up were 2 left of and ignores 3 and 4 what would be cool is if thay came up with some way to follow on from 2 like say while ripely bishop newt and hicks were floating in space they flew into a worm hole that created 2 universes one that was alien 3 and a new one that wont suck

  • @zachthezombie Dream on, buddy. At least this movie did balance a lot of things, unlike the previous two (regardless of how good they were). No movie is perfect, but that's the name of the game.

  • "Why are the innocent punished? Why the sacrifice? Why the pain? There aren't any promises. Nothing's certain. Only that some get called, some get saved. She won't ever know the hardship and grief for those of us left behind. We commit these bodies to the void... with a glad heart. For within each seed, there is the promise of a flower. And within each death, no matter how small, there's always a new life. A new beginning."

  • 2:06 :((

  • the third part might not be the best one but i do think it has the best score

  • The tears start coming at 1:25

Just pretend Alien 4 never existed and this is perfect. I mean...does anyone really think Ripley should come back as a bloody clone after all the people she loved and knew died?

  • @AidanMclaren Agreed, but I'll say this for Resurrection - Ripley FINALLY got back to Earth!

  • Ridley is probably making the 5th one 3-D movie because of the high success of the Avatar. I hope not.

  • alien 3 was totally depressing not the movie but the style it's darker than alien

  • i hope alien 5 isn't like avp:r aliens vs predator requiem has no story and the alien goes around killing people

  • The best way to end the Alien series.

    But 4 ruined everything.

  • @mcnuggets1992 If we can get past the fact that Ressurection was a shitty Alien sequel, then it's actually a very entertaining sci-fi action film, albiet a relentlessly stupid one.

  • This music is mind blowing .... I belive it can disrupt the listener's reality!

  • It's such an emotive piece of music when it reaches its' peak; Ripley's death.

  • Do I hear organ pedals?

  • Ash, Captain Dallas are dead. Cargo and ship destroyed. I should reach the frontier in about six weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off.

  • "Ripley done a right thing

  • "Ripley done a right thing

  • "Ripley, think of all we can learn from it! it's a gelt of a lifetime It's a magnificent specimen! You must let me have it

  • I actually don't mind any of the alien films (i may be at the wrong place to say this, but i didn't mind the AVPs)

    my rank out of 10

Alien - 7 (sorry) wasn't scared, but itself is well done

Aliens - 10 absolutely blew my mind

Alien 3 - 7 extremely stylish and astonishing music

Alien Resurrection - 6 silly, but it has its cool moments

AVP - 6 brainless, medicore entertainment

AVPR - 5 meh, it's alright, some cool stuff but could've done more

  • I remember being about six or seven when i first saw Alien3, made me ball! :( Ripley was my hero/ role model. I couldn't believe they just killed her off, and Alien 4 isn't the same.... Like Call says "You're not her." :/ This musc gets me everytime, as soon as she takes that step back and bishop yells "Nooo!" the tears just flow.... lol I'm so lame! XD

  • @blancbuni3 haha same here! even now just thinkin bout tht scene im kinda tearing lol...

  • Comment removed

  • @blancbuni3 sooooo true..tho Hicks and Newt were much loved as characters, i have grown to love Alien3 story, it did the unspeakable by killing them off, but i really respected the outcome. idk...maybe im just a weirdo... im a sucker for tht whole tragedy deal..

  • Comment removed

  • @sha6kin6la6ree When I was younger i despised Alien3 because they killed Hicks, Ripley, and Newt. Now that i'm older it has grown on me, its actually a very good film. The music is beautiful, the atmosphere is dark like the first one, i have excepted it into the Alien franchise. :) Now AVP on the other hand... >.> lol I agree the ending is great it wraps everything up (or so we thought) :D ALIENS will always be my fav though, it has a "happy" ending

  • @blancbuni3 Yeah. I like Alien 3, but it just doesn't have all of what made the first to films so good. It has way too many characters, and not enough personality for most of them. There are too many people dying for me too know who I'm supposed to care about. On its own merits, Alien 3 is a pretty decent movie, as a follow up to Aliens, it's hard to not be a little dissapointed in it.

  • @TheMostRandomGamer Hmm... I agree with everything you pointed out . :D

  • @hellsux2012 You are actually in luck. y Ridley Scott is doing an "Alien" prequel. Which explains how that aliens got on the derelict ship.

Alien Resurrection was alright for what it was but those two AVP movies are literally unwatchable.

  • @VisionofOrion i believe alien 4 was a shame to the alien saga, and a joke in the design of the new alien .alien 4 was an episode for me not a movie,a bad episode.bring back hr giger for the design and the scenery of the new alien and you have a winner.

  • Bishop: Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • The perfect ending to the series - not just Ripley's story.

  • What a depressing film this was.

  • @Coruscant98 Tonally.

  • this alien movie makes me think about death..

  • "Ripley, think of all we can learn from it! It's a magnificent specimen! You must let me have it."

  • @emperorx1984 vader - "Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

  • an underrated masterpiece of a movie, best score of all the alien movies

  • This is Ripley... last survivor of the Nostromo...

  • @GreatRottweiler signing off...

  • Alien (Jerry Goldsmith) had the best score by far, but as far as the sequels go, this is the only worthy competition.

    Incredible work.

  • @RogueRotting360 Wait... as far as sequels to Alien, or Aliens? Because Aliens is not only one of the greatest sequels of all time, but it's also one of the greatest sci-fi/action/horror film ever made.

  • @TheMostRandomGamer Nah. It's entirely overrated. Alien kicks its arse in every regard.

  • @RogueRotting360 They're two entirely different movies. Alien is a tense, atmospheric, dark, slow-paced, monster movie. Aliens is a non-stop, action-packed thrill ride, with scares, violence, and Ellen Ripley at her most bad ass.

  • @RogueRotting360 And over-rated? Really? Give me one reason why it doesn't deserve all the credit it's been given.

  • @TheMostRandomGamer Its characters are mostly all cardboard cut-outs; there's an annoying blue filter; James Horner's rush-job score is tedious and monotonous; the script is bland; the aliens over-exposed, hence the lack of shock; Ripley is turned into a ball-busting rambette; and the 'happy family' coda with Ripley, Newt and Hicks is banal and simplistic to the extreme.

It's the original first person shooter, but lacks character and heart. A hell of a thrill ride, but not much more than that.

  • @RogueRotting360 While I can see where you are coming from, I have to disagree entirely. However, I can't force you to agree with me, so let's agree to disagree when it comes to the quality of Aliens.

  • @RogueRotting360 James Horner's rush job was not his fault. Since you seem to hate the movie so much I doubt you own a copy or have seen any of the special features, but he talks at length about being at odds and pressed for time with Cameron, who with this only his third movie, wasn't used to having a big score and didn't know all the work it entailed.

  • @gws51284 Yes I've seen the special feature. Mr. Horner's haughty aloofness and insincerity permeates through it.

The Aliens score was a rush job, and it shows.

  • Man, this is one of the most emotional soundtracks I ever heard, and it's my favorite score in movie history. Thanks for sharing!

  • By 2:04 EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Anonnimus10 by 02:04 Nooooooooooooo :) i have cry when i see this scene :)

  • The score is pure brilliance, tense, mystifying and just pure beauty in the case of this track!

  • Best track of the Alien movies, and Alien 3 IMO had the best score of the series. An amazing score and an underrated movie.

  • When I hear this song.. It's almost heartwrenching in a way. You know what happened in the film, and how the characters you loved in the previous films fought for their lives, and in this one, it was almost as if they were supposed to die, like fate, sacrificing theirselves to destroy these things.

  • this theme right here has got to be my favorite them of all time its right up there with the jaws theme. its just beutiful epic and amazing. i always tear up when it gets to 2:07 to the end :'(

  • This is a great cue, but here's one frustrating thing.

In the extended cut of the movie (which is far superior), they completely hacked up this cue as Ripley jumps to her death.

That scene is one of many significantly altered. They recut the music to fit it, but totally ruined the moment she jumps off. I'm sure it could've been done better.

I'd have a go myself but can't really be bothered.

  • @sanjuro4

It's a shame, I know. There's more of a buildup in the AC, but also less of the somber payoff at 2:07.

  • @BiffMP5 I don't mind the longer build up, but cutting out some of the most dramatic stuff from the cue is plain wrong.

  • @sanjuro4 Oh dear god I know what you mean about hacking up the score at the moment of Ripley's sacrifice. The extended cut is cool and definitely superior but I simply cannot bring myself to watch it because of the way they completely massacre the entire atmosphere of that scene, which (to me at least) was the pinnacle and payoff of the entire movie.

  • @rabidsi totally know what you mean. I always switch back to classic movie before the end. Just so I can hear this wonderful music with the awesome scene. I wish they didn't mess with it. Other than that I loved the re-done version. But I'll always switch back.~

  • "This is Lt. Ellen Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo...Signing off."

  • after they screwed over JC's characters at the beginning, it was only fitting Ripley went out at the end with them-I mean there was no way there was going to be a happy ending to 3 when it starts like that. excellent score though

  • Comment removed

  • @bakinek its a celebration of alien films, Ripley sacriface....

  • "Think of what we can learn from it! Ripley, no!!!!"

Loved Lance Henriksen in that scene.

  • @wrath231 "It's the chance of a lifetime! You must let me have it - it's a magnificent specimen!"

  • Alien 3 - the most underrated movie to date. If I could only watch one of the tetralogy from now on, it'd be Fincher's chapter. "Adagio" alone owns anything heard in the other three scores.

  • agree it's criminally underrated

sadly they did the 4'th movie and the two dreadful crossovers

  • nice movie. How is the directer's cut?

  • @plagueofangels666

The Assembly Cut (director's cut) is incredible. Characters are more fleshed out and there are lots of alternate and extended scenes that enhance the film greatly. It's one of the few motion pictures I thoroughly enjoy re-watching.

  • @BiffMP5

I agree. but this is not a director's cut (Fincher didn't supervise it).

  • @BiffMP5 only problem are the weird subtitles that show up every now and then.

  • The film in it's longer form is highly underrated. The music's probably the best part, truly wonderful.

  • Alien 3 the best of them by light years.

  • @ToxicFrog no.

  • @TheMostRandomGamer

Well, you're obviously entitled to your wrong opinion. No one is going to take that away from you, good sir.

  • @ToxicFrog And you're entitled to be an ass hat.

  • one of my most favorite pieces of music ever! it is so amazing words cannot describe how beautiful it really is

  • One of the most underrated movies ever. This music completes perfectly this great piece of art. Please David Fincher, come back to that kind of dark movies...

  • i love this song

  • best part on the movie.....

    really emotional,adagio is great!!!

  • historical moment in film history, yes you heard me i said film not alien series

  • You rock and I totally agree with you!

  • no worrys....i found a copy of the alien 3 soundtrack on ebay for £8 RESULT!!!!!

  • any1 know how to get this on mp3......its amazing music

  • Search the amazon store for an mp3 download. It costs money, but not much at all.

  • alien prequal. ridley scott , late 2010. finally the franchise can fget back to normal and put a huge smile on the fans faces, no more pg13 avp crap movies.

  • bring back elliot to do the soundtrack, the rest will be history,as alien 5 the best sci fi movie ever made.

  • pg13 or not

Two movie monster figthing each other like it's some pro wrestling match only to please a few kids who played the games has nothing to do with the original Alien movies.

  • This score reminds me of Buzz Aldrin's about the surface of the moon, when he said it was 'Beautiful.... beautiful. Magnificent Desolation'. I think that's the best way to describe the Goldenthal's cue for the emotional climax of Alien 3

  • best score of the series

  • A birth that lasts seconds but was a major impact

  • Beautiful score, this is where the legend ends...
