@BadarShahHashmi in order to coil copper wire like that, it has to be insulated to prevent it from short circuiting. since its insulated, when you just place in on the paper clips, current wont travel through. So you scratch off the insulation to reveal the real copper.
@jh78ghbn56 not sure to be honest. the diameter has to be small enough to easily wrapped around a cylindrical object. i'm sure anything not too thick that the local hardware/hobby/electrical store has should be sufficient, as long as it has that coating on the wire so you can scratch it off to make the crucial contact points. or even if it isn't coated, just use some varnish on one half of the wire.

you didn't say in first video seconds you need a bottle cap ;D man this engine is awesome!!!!!! can i can take magnetic wire from old toy car engine???
@arnoldaszlt that is infact a jim beam bottle cap (i dont condone drinking the bottle just to make a simple dc motor) does the wire have a coating on it? if not... you might need some varnish or tape to seal 1 half of the wire.

why you scratched the wire from both sides??? i'm confused....

is the coil magnetic? if yes what metal did you use?
johnybond4ever 2 months ago
@johnybond4ever it turns into an electro magnet due to the current that is put though the coil. the coil is copper wire.
