They way they imbue this march with such a lively virile cockiness that moves forward with a certain dispatch, yet owing to the marvelous swells and subiti sforzandi does not at all feel mechanical. I love the way the Raul? crunchs his bow quasi ponticello to lend this a salty rustic quality. The master touch is the way the first violist & the lutenist play with each other- it is so fresh, alive, full of color & dramatic spontaneity. The best duetting interaction I've heard in a concerto.
