  • Beautiful piece. Beautiful performance.

  • When I was a freshman, by older brother was first sax. His solo took the manliness out of me.

  • so i tried to tell my mom about how much this song gives me the chills...and she didnt get it. i guess its cuz im a musician and she isnt...but i love this piece. it makes me cry because it is so beautiful <3

  • i wanna play this on my french horn

  • Such such such a wonderful rendition amazing a a piece like this was put together ! Grade 5 !

  • When a song gives you chills every single time you listen to it....

  • This song is great, were using it in our marching show this year and just listening to it in its original form is just inspiring and powerful and beautiful

    i love this song

  • Frank Ticheli, I don't know what to say. Can we please coin new words just for the sake of describing his works? Reply with suggested words, PLease. Oh, and, Ticheli: He's not like a boss, because he is the boss :D

  • @saxassoon sorry but Tony Danza is still the boss

  • This song is my sanctuary. So pure and flowing like water. -3

  • I remember playing the oboe on this piece, it was such a beautiful arrangement. Those high D's were really really fun to keep in tune.

  • @IsothosestrasZephyr Really really fun? This is my favourite concert band piece, but as an oboist, reading your comment makes me not want to play it just yet LOL

(For fear of, you know, butchering it...)

  • @RaiMidori Oh no worries I totally butchered it. The 2 high Bs in the beginning of the piece and the F sharp? Completely off tune, I was mortified with embarrassment.

  • @IsothosestrasZephyr Oh, ouch! High Bs aren't fun no matter what, least of all in a very naked piece like this one...

I can imagine playing this piece would be stressful for all the musicians! It's so gorgeous though...

  • @IsothosestrasZephyr u play french horn

  • 3. An American Elegy

    2. Angels in the Architecture

    1. Sanctuary

    This is the TOP 3

  • @tonysantana22222

I loveeeee Angels in the Architecture...I first heard the song being performed by Cal State Fullerton's band. Sounded amazing.

  • @Reiki101 At the All-State Music Conference in Arkansas. The Wind Symphony played Angels in the Architecture

  • Sing. Be. Live. See. This dark stormy hour, the wind it stirs. The scorched earth cries out in vain. In vain. Oh war and power, you blind and blur. The torn heart cries out in pain. In pain. But music and singing have been my refuge. And music and singing shall be my light. A light of song, shining strong. Alelluia! Alelluia. Through darkness and pain and strife, I'll sing. I'll be. see. Peace. Peace.

These are my favorite lyrics. When I sing this song, I know that music shall be my sanctuary

  • One person apparently couldn't hit the high B flat in the horn solo.

  • One person is going to die.

  • I am a member of the East Henderson Hightower School Band in Hendersonville NC, This year for a concert piece we played Sanctuary! This song is amazing with beautiful cords all throe out the piece, my favorite section is the climax ween me ( as a second chair trumpet player) got to play the melody!!!!! It was an incredible felling! If anyone wants to play this piece I highly recommend it to anyone!

  • I can't stop listening to this song. I have this CD and listen to it all the time.

  • The song Eath Song is in there from the beginning, it's so cool :) I hope my band teacher will let us do this song next year!

  • I have actually met, and played with this man. He came to our high school in California(Cathedral City High School) after our teacher asked him to come to give us comments and play though his piece Vesuvius. It was a very interesting experience. He is a very talented man. He gave me advice on to play this one Tom-tom rhythm "Drink all the pink lemonade, drink all the tasty watermelon wine", Ill never forget that. Have his signature on my perc part(: If you want to see more:

  • @irawrjuu27 cchsbands(dot)org

    That's our bands website

  • @irawrjuu27 Jacy Macaroy, he's the man. Me and him both played trumpet in the band. We could double tongue-double tongue.

  • Anybody want the full score to this song? Full AND printable? PM me with an email address!

  • I hear John Williams influence (or maybe not even necessarily John Williams, but an older composer) when the winds come in at the beginning.... It reminds me of a peaceful starry night scene from E.T.

  • Anybody got the trombone part to this song? Can I have it please?

  • earth song FTW

  • i get the chillis wit this song

  • His work always leaves me breathless...pure genius

  • didn't frank ticheli actually write this before earth song?

  • @kstamaria94 yes haha

  • our high school is playing this, this year along with David Maslanka's Traveler..... This is gonna be an amazing year... :)

  • @flyingrocks247 ohh shiit me too. ;) hahahaha

  • @majescawang cause we go to the same school majesca hahaha

  • @flyingrocks247 uhh i was being totally sarcastic. :D haha

  • @majescawang dont i feel stupid hahaha:P

  • wow. amazing song. hard to believe this is the same guy that wrote "the tyger" (if you haven't heard it, i bet its over there => in the suggestions...now there's a "messed-up" piece for a nice contrast ;)

  • Frank Ticheli is pure genius :) his songs give me chills. and this is why i'm greatful to be a musician.

  • @Danaboox32 it's not a song. a song is a musical piece with lyrics. this is just a piece

  • Tears. Tears of joy. Omg.

  • OMG We sang Earth song in Chorus and it was my favorite song we've ever done! Now after hearing this I want to play it in band!

  • This is amazingly beautiful :)

  • the French horn solo! <3 So amazing and epic :)

  • @vivmellow oh yeah, go solo haha

  • GOOSEBUMPS

  • This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. After I heard this, I decided to write a piece that is similar to it.

  • @Nighthawk0010: I know. It made me tear up when I first heard it. I love Frank Ticheli's works and this one is one of my favorites of his.

  • Man, I'm the biggest band geek there is, but the Earth Song here in no way compares to the choral version. Although this is quite a good recording. :D

Thanks for uploading all of these great pieces, by the way.

  • Absolutely gorgeous piece :) One of my all-time faves!

  • second best song by ticheli...#1 song. Angels in the Arcutecture. You should upload it =) hint hint.

  • The tune at about 2:30, I've heard it outside of this piece. Can anyone tell me what it is?

  • @dimsimlord It's actually Frank Ticheli's Chorale Piece Earth Song! I was surprised when I heard it as well. :) So beautifully incorporated.

  • @concertbandland

Oh, so it is. Those clarinets at the beginning of it sound beautiful

  • @concertbandland Frank wrote earth song after sanctuary as an extension of sanctuary in a new form, a Chorale! and it is absolutely wonderful in every way possible!

  • @concertbandland

Oh thank god i was right, i was listening to this song after listening to Earth Song for like 30min on repeat & i heard that part & was like "W-wait what? *checks the title again*
