Titanic, is a movie that cant be summed up in two sentences. Titanic is an epic masterpiece adventure film that starts in Southampton, and ends after the sinking. Watching all this happen and remembering everything that just happened. All the love stuff, the horror of the ship sinking, the Nearer my God to thee scene, the final plummit, and the other moments that come togethor in such a life taking way, it really takes your mind away and youll forget what your life is like while watching....
If you listen to this while a nearby wolf pack is howling, it is just pure magic. I kid you not, there is a wolf pack near where I live and they are howling right now to this song and I am crying, it's just so beautiful. The meaning of titanic isnt just about jack and rose, its about the tragedy of the sinking, and how it effected peoples lives, i mean jack and rose wasnt the only people in love on the boat, but the film shows it in more emotion

Basically sure the grahics are absolutly amazing, but when it gets down to it, Avatar was very remisnesent *fail spelling* of Pocahontas and Ferngully. Avatar comes no where close to the emotion conveyed through Titanic.

@rae629 more like quadrupled, i saw Avatar in 3D for $18, titanic was seen by WAY more people, plus nobody that watched titanic started a crazed fan club where people dress up like main characters once a week to reenact the ship sinking, unlike avatar freaks that paint themselves blue to do battle against lawnmowers (trust me they are out there, you can watch the videos)

Why are people talking about Avatar here? o.0 Titanic and Avatar are two completely different movies, you can't compare them. Avatar is very good when it comes to special effects, but nothing can compare to Titanic's emotional story.

Everyone says that Avadar's revenue exceed the Titanic's. I don't think so, since the value of dollar today is not as much as that in 1997. And I donn't see Avanda, I just don't have a willing to wach it.

@woshitianshihahahaha First of all, its Avatar, not "Avadar" or "Avanda." Secondly, the value of the dollar at the time isn't important, it's how many dollars were made by the movie. Third, the inflation between 1997 and now isn't enough to compensate for how much more money Avatar made over Titanic.

@BakoFlyer24 I hate it when people assume the amount of money a movie makes goes toward to how good a film is. It doesn't matter how much either film grossed. It is the content of the film. Yes, AVATAR might have surpassed in graphics, but graphics do not make a good movie alone. AVATAR's plot was extremely lacking in comparison to Titanic's, even though even with Titanic, film critiques said that it was also lacking. Believe me, they weren't too impressed with AVATAR either.

Okay, what's up with the "Titanic is better than Avatar" comments here? I'm not saying that it's not true but they are NOT meant to be compared.
Avatar and Titanic are COMPLETELY different genres, so why even? Besides, it's by the same director so might as well say they're both good in their own genres.

I agree with the consensus here. Avatar is WAY to over-hyped. I thought it was mediocre at best. Titanic, on the other hand, was a masterpiece.
