  • where can u get theme??? let me know asap!!

  • you can record with hdmi on xbox noob

  • can i use it on a 2008 macbook?

  • @smashNgrab5953 Unfortunately, no. I'm not sure if any MBP has the board required for this thing. :(

  • @Norg1 rewatch the video

  • @axeaxe46 USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

  • i was about to purchase this thinking it was for the mac. i noticed you were on pc. any recommendations?

  • @sangreiti ummh u can just make sure it has thunderbolt. BMD makes 2 shuttles

  • Comment removed

  • does it work on mac

    macbook pro 2012 13inch

  • @AntyDarkKnight it will work on the mac if you have a "intensity shuttle thunderbolt" if not you would need a usb 3.0 (blue cord).

  • @thegamersheep can you send me a link how I install the software of this blackmagic ?

  • can this work with USb 2.0 ???? i dont have a 3 on my computer

  • @Norg1 no, try useing a mac

  • HUHH??? you confused the crap out of me, first you said you cant record in 1080p gameplay then when you started showing the gameplay footage you said it was in 1080p

and if you cant record from the input hdmi port, why is that port even there?

  • @jamierawr88 He said 1080p doesnt work, but 1080i works,

Hopefully you know the difference between the two.

1080p is way better then 1080i even though their pretty much the same, i prefer 1080p cause it adds some more graphics

  • @Peakatchu88 720p is for united states so if you live here use that

  • Need a tissue?

  • @Trickmaster6 It can run on macs, though you might run into a lot of performance issues using the Air.

  • @theAaronLeigh Thanks for the help

  • Mac Support?

    Specifically The Air.

  • @Trickmaster6 From what I gather reading online, Mac users (you and I) would have to get the Thunderbolt version of the Shuttle as Mac's don't support USB 3.0.

  • would this work on a macbook pro???

  • can you record in 1080p on the pc?

  • Hey there, gamersheep.

I do a lot of PC gaming, and I record a lot as well (Machinimas and frag videos mostly). Currently the best options for PC recording are programs like fraps... but of course, while using recording programs like these, it impacts framerate and lowers performance. (recording at 60fps full resolution just kills fps).

Any idea if, since it has an HDMI port on it, if it would support HDMI coming from my monitor?

Also, does shuttle impact gameplay performance/fps?

  • what if my laptop only has usb 2.0, i cant use it? that so stupid!

  • can i record voice over after recording video with the program it comes with?

  • USB 2.0 not supported???? Is really BAD!! Who will buy this thing with that big bad thing...

  • @dmassive it has usb 3.0

  • @dmassive

you can plug in usb 3.0 stuff into usb 2.0 ports. and vice versa, its backwards compatible. the only problem is even if you plug in a 3.0 thing into a 2.0 port, youll only get 2.0 speeds. but if you put a 2.0 object into a 3.0 port it will be a little faster which is cool. and of course putting a 3.0 object into a 3.0 port makes it insanely fast

  • @GeoAl09 Yes, backwards compatible is the standard behavior. But, I read reviews where people using USB 2.0 can´t use it.

  • Will the BIOSTAR TA990FXE AM3+ work with this? CPU: AMD FX-4100

  • hello friend am from Brazil .. and I would ask that you please Fize is a video showing how to connect a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle - External, and then burn using just the HDMI cable,,, thanks, my name is charles ..

  • i really dont get why capture card is so expensive

  • why is it called black while its white

  • can you post your PC specs please? all of them..

  • it's usb 3.0 :S thats sucks

  • you cant record xbox in 1080p any way cuz the max is 1080i

    only ps3 can record 1080p

  • @Armaangandevia1 thats funny because i been playing 1090p on my xbox o_O

  • @HeroKnows itss says 1080p but in real life it aan on look like 1080p not actually preform like it.

  • Thanks for this Review. So you can record PS3 and Xbox 360 gameplay, but just not through HDMI? only through the colour components? Isn't the maximum quality through colour components 1080p or is it 720p? Thanks

  • Is there anything to make my imac that doesn't have thundebolt able to use this?

  • so you cant play and recored in HDMI for ps3?

  • @jelaxer2 Yes you can

  • Thanks the info about 720p @ 2:43 had my xbox on 1080p = black screen when using this device.

  • You're a Saffer living in Kiwiland right? :p

  • is a usb 3.0. the 1 that comes with hauppage

  • @xIDraG0N hauppauge is usb 2.0. I would recommend the avermedia game capture hd, however. It's cheaper than the hauppauge, records in hd, and doesn't even need a computer.

  • i have a usb port thats blue but it doesnt look like his usb 3 cord

  • Please, How can I know if my motherboard is x58 or not? I have a laptop Asus U36S and I have a usb 3.0.

  • Great product! One thing I don't like is that it doesn't support optical audio.

  • so if my computer doesnt have USB 3 then i cant use it?

  • @MrKCarz Yes, USB 3.0 only.

  • there are indeed USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 ENJOY HAHA

  • chuck norris

  • Wait so while your recording you can't play in HD on your xbox?

  • So when you said they "patched it" does that mean you can now record xbox footage in 720p through the HDMI cable?

  • Hey guys, please help me I honestly dont know if my PC will work with it (I hope it will) but here are my specs.

    Model: Alienware m17x R3

    CPU: Intel Core i7 2630QM 2Ghz

    GPU: Nvidia GT560m 1.5GB

    RAM: 8GB

    Hard Drive: 1TB of space

  • @XArticRageX yh it should... you need usb3 tho... if its blue then its usb3 if its black or white then its usb2... also, it only has 1tb which isnt a lot considering each minute is about 1gb

  • @mbuckley2000 Yea I have USB 3.0, I'm going to go with buying the Hauppage HD PVR though, since it has optical ports which means I can still use my Astros and MMX 300's with it

  • @mbuckley2000 are u fucking kidding 1tb is 1000gb idiot

  • @Huntii98 yes and that would be full in no time if each minutes is 1gb... retard... if your gonna record a lot you need about 2 - 3 tb

  • @Huntii98 1024gb :P

  • @Huntii98 1024*

  • @Huntii98 - it pays to use Google or other reference material before calling someone an idiot as you just made an ass of yourself.

    1TB = 1024GB

  • @XArticRageX of course it will..

  • watch out guys I bought this and I had everything including USB3.0 and 12GB ram and x58 mobo but it still didn't work make sure you have one of the 5 mobos they say work or its not for sure its going to work for you..

  • @TheBriansDenn ITS TRUE. it should not be this difficult to get a $200 product to work. my system is brand new with beastly specs.

  • intensity shuttle can gfi! i have usb 3.0 brand new mobo and even bought an add on card via pci express as advised to and it still won't worth. screw black magic. i admit the quality is amazing, but the limitations are crazy. the intensity pro won't work with i7 cpu's and the shuttle is very limited on what it works with.. and now their new product intensity extreme only works on MACS. WTF!

  • @Cajunomics is it an x58 mobo? And I agree, all the limitations are bs.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, it's another black guy! =D

  • You CAN record from PS3. Just connect your PS3 hdmi output with DVI-to-HDMI converter input and itsa output to shuttle hdmi input. And you are ready to go. This video is old and obsolete. *******************************************

  • right to left was the order of the worst qaulity cables to the best

  • Whats Better Intesnity Pro or Intensity Shuttle?

  • Will my Alienware M17x R3 be compatible?

  • Will this work with a Windows 7 HP Pavilion Laptop???

  • @rename360 So am i just better off buying a pvr? haha

  • USB 3.0 is backwards compatible, so will work with 2.0 aswell.

  • Will this work on a macbook pro 2011?

    OSX version 10.6.8

    2.3 GHz intel Core i5

    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

  • @TheDylan1234 No Way

  • will this work on my computer

    processor intel(r) celeron(r) cpu e1400 @ 2.00ghz 2.00ghz

    1.00gb

    32 bit operating system

and the make of my computer is hanns.g

  • Will this work on my

    LENOVO IDEAPAD Y570 ?

    750 gb HDD

    6 gb Memory

    USB 3.0

  • why do you need a special motherboard?

  • Are you sure it's not just ps3 that doesn't work with HDMI? Because it has HDCP signal.

  • Does it work with Pinnacle studio?

  • Hey I'm wondering if you know if it is possible to record with a PS3 over HDMI yet. Also, at the beginning you said you need a x58 based computer. Do you thing a z68 with a i5 2500k would do it? Thanks very much

  • I don't have a epic PC so is there some other product I can use to record my X360 gameplay via HDMI cables. I don't want to play in 480p with the stupid Dazzle.

  • I have USB 3.0, a 4.6Ghz i7 and an MSI motherboard, will i be able to use it?

  • @AtomicInfinity I wish I had that.

  • nice background music

  • does the output have to be the same as the input? or can you input hdmi and output component or vise versa

  • @Cypher2012 I think so, you can input component and output composite... so probably...

  • @guapopollo i assume it would work, just considering the convenience of it. Just thought I'd ask cause sometimes things can't do the simplest of task.

  • @Cypher2012 Yeah I know what you mean...

  • @Cypher2012 Yes you can mix your input an output :)

  • @samcerulean1412 sweet. thanks for the info. better late than never.

  • Please Help me!!!!!!!! Im using my Intensity shuttle with my xbox 360, in 1080i HDMI in and out, The video shows up on my tv but not in medua exspress please help!

  • @IAmMrMarzBar you have to change to 1080p , it doesn't record in 1080i .

  • @macix12 Thanks, do I need to Change anything on media exspress?

  • @FPSRangers no because the macbook pro does not have USB 3.0, BUT if you have the thunderbolt port then buy a USB 3.0 to thunderbolt then it MIGHT work!

but you do have another option blackmagic released a new product that is exactly like the shuttle but it has thunderbolt support for mac os users, check it out its called the "Black magic intensity extreme" and its priced at 299$, hope this helps good luck

  • you sound kinda weird for a black dude

  • why did it take a day to setup

  • does it work on window 7

  • @MXmontages yes

  • how do u install it

  • only ps3 has a hd protection i think

  • is there a way to disable the 360 or ps3 from not allowing it to stream hdmi gameplay to something like this?

  • Please answer. I play ps3 and pc on the same monitor, can i record in my situation?

  • The reason why recording through HDMI doesn't work is HDCP, the copyright protection crap, no device will be able to, it depends on the input (console or tuner) of they use HDCP protection built in, and PS3 uses it for sure and so do most digital tv providers. Devices that would record from HDMI are/will be blacklisted.

  • @thecodinme it won't work on a PS3 through HDMI (HDPC protection crap), but it should work with component, which will give the same quality actually.

  • this

  • what better this or a HD PVR?

  • @xMRxA the the intensity is better the hd pvr i have both the hdpvr is a power hogging heat lover that isnt 1080 p and the other thing is he didnt no how to set up this i have it and it records in 1080 i xbox and ps3

  • OK i have been searching for some kind of software/Hardware that I can record my HD TV series onto my computer, as Using my Digibox hard drive seems to always be running on critical due to the lack of space.

Can you tell me to whether this will solve me problem. The Digibox I have does not have component cable at the rear only output through HDMI.

    PLEASE REPLY/ADVISE

    Thanks in advance

  • Any thoughts on s-video to an HD up-converting quality? Does it improve the quality like DVD/Blu-Ray players up-conversions?

  • USB 3.0 - Check. x58 Motherboard - Check. Thanks for this review. I've been trying to find ways to get better video quality for the fan-edits that I make. I had been considering this device because currently I'm using a Dazzle, which only records in SD. Only problem I'm seeing based on the comments is that I'm using a PS3, but I wonder if that problem could be solved if I added an HDMI splitter to filter the PS3's coding into something the shuttle could recognize? Here goes nothing . . .

  • So would this work on a MacBook pro15"?

  • What is the point in making an affordable HD capture card that requires you to have a ridiculously powerful computer to run. I mean how many people these days have i7 capable motherboards with USB 3.0? Not that much! Bad marketing idea in my opinion. Would be way way way more successful if it worked without USB 3.0 and had ran on any motherboard.

  • @xxraythompsonxx usb 2.0 is really to slow to transfer video, especially if you want a preview on your capture software , so they made the right decision there. Handling hd video takes up a lot of processing power, the motherboard needs to be setup in a way that the signal is fast from the device to your hard drive, really no way around it.

  • @xxraythompsonxx Well, I think it's fine. What you say is true, but for a lot of people who do gaming videos, they already have powerful PCs for their video making and their PC gaming. And in case you don't know, most Blackmagics are internal capture cards that are directly inserted into your PC. Blackmagic has always been epic PCs only kind of products. Although, you still have a good point.

  • PS3 sucks any way

  • @thegamersheep I'm pretty sure the PS3 doesn't work in HDMI as the Intensity Shuttle won't record HDMI in HDCP coding, which is unfortunately what the PS3 outputs in.

The only way to change that is either getting an decoder to change the output partway, or to get an HDMI to DVI.

Hope I helped answer some questions =] Good video!

  • wat is cheapest thing to get to record gamplay?

  • @FTGPurpleHippy Easycap DC60 (FOR PS3) DC60+ (FOR XBOX)

But they dont work on hdtv without splitters

  • @SGTMAJORMOIZY o ok thank you for saying

  • hey can you please give me a link to them thank you

  • @FTGPurpleHippy look up easycap or roxio gamecapture

  • @FTGPurpleHippy HD Toaster

  • will this work with a gigabyte z68a-d3-b3 motherboard?

  • Its Work Asrock Z68 extreme 4 ???

  • My motherboard Chipset is X58 and I have 2x 3.0 USB ports so the shuttle should work fine with my computer?

  • @ProSn1pe Yes. And on a p55 motherboard with a USB 3.0 PCIe card

  • Intel® Core™ i7-2600 processor(8MB Cache, 3.4GHz)

    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64Bit, English

    8GB3 DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz

1000GB4 SATA hard drive (7200RPM) would it be compatible with this? (dell xps 8300)

  • @tehSurplusBananas specs arent really the problem you need USB 3.0

  • @tehSurplusBananas

Try the programme called "AIDA Extreme Edition" you can get a trial and check all your computer's specs.

  • was thinking of getting the intensity shuttle i heard its not that great but it does have hdmi. I dont play on a normal tv i use my monitor, so i was wondering if there is a recorder out there that can record from monitors since my monitor only has hdmi. im hoping their is because the tv and my desktop are pretty far from each other

  • HELLO! i want to know if you can use the hdmi port on your xbox or ps3, and then record like 720p, but still use the hdmi. so no component cables!! thank you!!

  • "HELLO! i want to know if you can use the hdmi port on your xbox or ps3, and then record like 720p, but still use the hdmi. so no component cables!! thank you!!" @xJzOchoa Yes I want to know this too. And if not is their some product out there that can???

  • @millertime6888 The device doesn't do HDMI passthrough, but you would be able to use an HDMI splitter (30-40$ on monoprice) to split the signal and have one go to your TV and one to your capture device.

  • @FuriousJodo Thanks. I'm just going to go with the HD PVR. I'll settle for 720p

  • I Prefer the HD PVR

  • @TheFlash2215 No HDMI D:

  • @TheFlash2215 why? bigger, needs external power, slightly more expensive, lower quality, no hdmi, the list goes on

  • can you play in hdmi on ps3 and stil ecord in hdmi?

  • @SSpchP ya

  • I'm not sure USB 2.0 can't handle the video throughput. Anyway, I want to know if this device can be used to connect a camcorder through the HDMI to the device, then to my computer and use ustream to broadcast the video live. This guy said the HDMI in didn't work, but maybe just not with the device he was trying to use, I hope... otherwise that port is just for show... :D

  • I only saw one side of the usb cable 3.0 and the other side 2.0 so we should be fine.

  • i am using my intensity shuttle for an year using hdmi input with no inssues .

You can record from playstation and xbox due hdcp protection .

i believe that if you are playing a game os Playstation and you be able to record it on intensity shuttle .

Just make sure your output source is properly configured with th intesity shuttle hdmi input .

in hdmi the quality is outstanding .

  • @kirkass10

you CAN record through hdmi or you CAN'T? lol

  • yes i can and i do it all the time .

use media express software to do that , the file will be big because the format is uncompressed avi .

  • Can u tell me why you cant play with HDMI and record

  • ok i have a usb 2.0 and on my comp and will it work backwards compatible? one says yes and another says no...im going into B and H in NYC soon so i need to know! please help!

  • @crazey4wwe2 no

  • its says USB 3.0 do u need 3.0

  • @ScreamsOfEvil Typically when it says you need USB 3.0, you need USB 3.0...

  • this guy is wrong when he says u can't record off the xbox 360

look at my youtube channel,i just got the shuttle 2 days ago, also check my gaming channel svrrud3bwoy,i am recording with the shuttle using hdmi, the only issues i ran into was recording netflix it is hdcp protected,i had no issues recording gameplay or anything from my dashboard.

  • @SanguineDagger yes it does

  • @SanguineDagger

    yes

check my channel and my gaming channel svrrud3bwoy i got the card 2 days ago
