We accidentally found them before the cans were taken to the curb on trash day. They were all okay. We kept one of them and took the rest to the pound. She was a totally awesome cat. There's already a news article interviewing the woman in question who said that she "thought it'd be funny" to put the cat in the wheelie bin". What surprised me the most about the report was that the neighbour (the actual owner of the cat) said that the woman didn't deserve the hate that people have been spreading on sites such at Twitter and Facebook.
I'll admit, I'm not the biggest lover of cats, but I think that what she did was disgusting and should have been punished by some jail time.

I hope that lady goes to jail. When I was a kid, someone dumped a whole litter of kittens inside a closed trash bag in our trash can. We accidentally found them before the cans were taken to the curb on trash day. They were all okay. We kept one of them and took the rest to the pound. She was a totally awesome cat. But I also love feeding the sparrows and several other species of birds outside, so it's a balancing act to keep them apart. I got angry at one of my cat for always jumping up on the bird feeder when I always shoo her away. Well, recently I have put 3 bells on her collar, and all is good now.
