@PrimalHateGrind hahahaha gtfo please, r u kiddin me? fleming wasnt able to keep jt's beats when he toured with tmv in the ampu era so dont talk shit bro
@PrimalHateGrind Flemming would be their worst if not for the stint with Elitch and he wrote most of their demo stuff, not Frances. I don't know what reasoning you're using. Among many other drummers I know, we all agree Theodore is one of the best writing drummers alive(similar to John Bonham), whereas Pridgen is one of the most skilled. Mars Volta were lucky to have those two and Deantoni Parks should be the next great addition.
@eettocs According to the experts: This riff was elaborated and eventually transposed to the beginning of Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus starting with the Frances the Mute tour, and then periodically before Vermicide during the Amputechture tour.
@3573378 I went and listened to Vicarious Atonement, even though I own Amputechture and have heard that song probably thousands of times, and I didn't hear the opening riff that was played here. Then I listened to that quiet section in the song Frances and heard it. I stick by what I originally stated.

@eettocs I totally didn't realize I replied to myself just now. A year later and I forgot I commented on this video, so I reply to my comment I posted then.
Theodore not a great drummer? you mean the guy who wrote the drums to De-Loused, Amputecture, and Frances the Mute? Yeah he sucks. Yeah right.

@Corduroy1395 Doesn't Omar write practically ALL the music? Including drums?

this live is fantastic, wish i was there...best volta's period in my opinion :)

Fleming was the best TMV drummer, he even came up with most of the beats on De-Loused. Jon Theodore was not that great, highly overrated.

Me gustaría que tocaran el intro de Cygnus, nunca lo hacen.
Aun recuerdo la primera vez que la escuché, pensé que hablaba de un exorcismo
sergioESP100 2 years ago
Aún no entiendo por qué el intro de Cygnus es el mismo Sarcophagi, de Cassandra.. tendrá alguna relación con los personajes de la historia?
LeniAndorian 2 years ago
@LeniAndorian Pues son personajes que estan dentro un mismo album, seria lo mas logico no?

The intro in this sounds a lot like the quiet section of "Frances the Mute" the song.
eettocs 2 years ago 2
i think that's the point cuz you know frances is the firs song of the album its the beggining of the story and then cygnus come's in
drumsex 2 years ago
@eettocs This intro is the intro of Vicarious Atonement of their album Amputechture.
3573378 1 year ago
Nah, I'm pretty sure it's the quiet section of Frances. When Cedric is singing "To find her drunken by receipts. He held her by the ankles.."

i love the way they arrange their live show, but overall the songs are performed allot better on recording i think
corruptedxsilence 2 years ago
different, maybe, but I wouldn't say better. It's just the version we fell in love with, but wouldn't it be boring if they just duplicated that?
