  • Does anybody know what Executive Order 11110 is?

  • if only barr understands the constitution, he would know that government has absolutely no authority at all to even get involved in any way. barr has not changed, he still does not respect the ccnstitution. any barr fans care to point out how barr's suggestions here are constitutional??

  • I'm starting to believe that only a third party candidate is going to bring about the real change needed to save this country.

  • socialism is for banks and bank related companies not for people.

  • old chicago proverb,,,,,,,,,,,,,fuck the fannie and freddie stockholders!

  • No to NAZI BARR!! Voting for someone who voting to send thousands of troops to their deaths is a no no.

  • so ur votin for who ?

  • Too bad Paul doesn't throw his weight behind Barr, who has 48 states of ballot access, in exchange for doing everything Paul says about the Fed when he's elected... Barr is still the best game in town. I'm voting for him, no doubt about it.

  • I love when he says the treasury has no money of its own, its all the taxpayers money. Power corrupts and Absolute Power corrupts absolutely.

  • So Barr's saying he supports bailing out Fannie Freddie. Why does he talk so cryptic???

  • bailout bob doesn't want the government to get further involved,,,,, but wants congress to offer a line of credit and long-term congressional supervision. most interesting. reminds me of pro-life/pro-choice mitt romney. i have just one question; where does the constitution authorize the government to get involved in the mortgage business? have libertarians completely forgotten that to follow the constitution was once fundamental to libertarianism?

  • Why is Barr "advising" market intervention from the government. And why doesn't he say anything about the Fed? The Fed's more responsible for this problem than congress.

  • Barr has too many inconsistencies. On the surface, he seems like paul, but as you dig deeper, you start seeing significant differences.

  • No one can be Ron Paul. Sadly, there won't be another Ron Paul politician in this generation or the next generation. Right now Bob Barr is our best hope, lets support him.

  • Have a little more hope my friend... Of course no one can be Ron Paul, he is his own phenomenon... but we as ron paul supporters can emulate the things we love about his political life in our own shot in politics. And that can be in this generation and the next.PEACE.

  • Well yeah, he's a different person. What do you expect; that he's going TO BE Ron Paul? Only Ron Paul can be Ron Paul.

  • what issue has Patriot Act Bob not been on ???

  • what issue has Patriot Act Bob not been inconsistent on???

  • Bob Barr is contradicting himself. Ron Paul says no bailout whatsoever. Barr says no bailout but we bailout those who need it?

Did anyone hear to this guy?

  • bringing up the poll crap is how they keep the candidates down

  • truthers are morons!

  • Yah a total Nazi because he wants us to be free from an oppressive government...oh wait...that's why the US Constitution was made. I guess that makes the founding fathers nazi's as well.

  • The government produces nothing. Everything it has it takes from taxpayers. Why do people keep looking to the government to fix problems? Doesn't this mean the government will take more from us? Neither the Democrats nor Republicans will reduce the size of government. Only Bob Barr will.

    Vote Bob Barr!

  • Didn't Bob Barr suggest that the govt. should fix the problem.. or did i miss something..

  • Barr is a brilliant, Independent Constitutional Conservative Patriot

  • Well put AutoYorn1.

  • Let free market come back to housing. Let Fannie/Freddie fail. Funny how people think that Fannie/Freddie world of mortgage lending is free market.

  • Shame on Fox for putting up that old poll! As Barr pointed out, we're at 6% nationally and around 10% in a state or two with Oklahoma, a place we're not even on the ballot yet, at 9%! We're raising the BARR in 2008!

  • Fox News doing something dirty? NOOOO!!!!

    You're a conspiracy theorist!

  • Has anyone thought that maybe what he is suggesting is that the government take responsibility for its mistake? That's a libertarian ideal.

  • Barr catches Faux News attempting to pass off a month old poll, where he has 3%, when he's currently polling at 7%. Nice trick Faux, but we got your number.

  • I can't believe a so-called Libertarian just said that we need Government to come in and fix the problem they caused! He is no libertarian, obviously!

The solution is to get the government OUT of all these issues! The government is hired by the people to PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION, not to manipulate the markets, money, etc., etc., etc.

  • Yeah... weird.

  • True, but unfortunately the government created the mess. The government does have to extricate itself, but would doing it immediately on the basis of principle do more harm than good? But you're right, Barr should start from a more radical position and perhaps work towards a temporary compromise.

  • God, this guy is so not a libertarian. He just said the government made the problem, so we need more government to fix the problem. That is a socialist attitude not a libertarian. Let the banks or any other business fail if they make stupid decisions, and pay CEOs over 20 million dollars a year a 100 million dollar retirement even if they lose money. And for God's sake(or what ever term you would prefer if you are an atheist) get rid of the Damn Federal Reserve.

  • I think you are confusing "libertarian" with "anarchist". Do you sincerely think that it would be a good idea to shut down the Fed tomorrow and let the entire system free-fall?

Even though the ultimate goal is to get the plane on the ground, nose-diving and killing everyone on board is not a very wise strategy.

  • don't worry, the system is about to enter free-fall regardless.

  • burtmuh: you are right about that.

  • Yes i think it would be a great idea if we shut down the fed tomorrow. Furthermore this is a libertarian view point(its the 2nd main point on Ron Paul's Platform(first being, leave the other countries alone)). We did not have the fed until 1913. The federal reserve is only part government. The government gave a small group of bankers the right to regulate our monetary system with no oversight. This causes the massive inflation we have had for the last 70 years making saving 10 times as hard.

  • I have to agree with omni here. I was going to vote for Barr but after watching this interview i am not so sure anymore.

Maybe I will just write in Ron Paul's name. Atleast with RP you know where he stands.

  • I am 13 and I did my term paper this year on Facts About Oil and in the process learned alot about the need to use our own oil resources. I decided to hold a rally in Washington D.C. to bring attention to America's need

to drill for oil from the standpoint of a young person,It will be on July 24, 2008 at Jefferson Memorial Plaza from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

  • why would anyone put money in a bank called fannie ,its staring you in the face . A TIP FOR ALL AMERICANS , STOP BRUSHING YOUR TEETH WITH FLOURIDE ,IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM GETTING AT ,SEARCH FLOURIDE ON YOUTUBE ..GOD HELP AMERICA IF MCCBUSH GETS IN . AMERICAS FASTLY BECOMING A JOKE COUNTRY.

  • I don't like his stance on the financial meltdowns. The correct answer was "let banks fail so we can get it over with quicker."

  • No he is saying if they fail taxpayers pay, and if they make profits, taxpayers pay, either way you look at it, taxpayers pay, this is not a fair system. The Government has no business manipulating the market...

  • Besides the fact that Fannie & Freddie carry about 1/2 the loans in America, ummm that means half of America could potentially be hurt by their failure, this would be an obvious national issue.

  • The last number I heard was 7 million foreclosures already, lets keep in mind why this is happening, because loopholes were enacted by elitist Senators to allow people who couldn't afford it to take out huge loans that they should have never taken, now that the damage is done the govt steps in, this is an artificial bubble and it is popping by design. And who pays in the end, I never bought a house, but I will pay for this debacle anyway...

  • Bob Barr isn't Ron Paul ,but he's still got my vote...I don't necessarily agree however, that the Feds should bail yet another stupid industry out because of it's own ineptness....and foolishness of individual borrowers...

  • Who is this schmuck of a reporter? Grinning like a little boy at a candy store.

  • The way it was phrased in this clip, it sounds as though people who are so poor that they do not pay any taxes do not foot any of the bill. Not at all. When the government increases spending while running a deficit, the poor are hit the hardest. Their "contribution" may not amount to much, but it is devastating to them nonetheless.

  • damn it.... I'm already uneasy/not totally sold on Bob Barr, and then he goes and says something like this that government shouldn't not do anything to bailout the banks....

  • Okay, Dan, what's the problem with not bailing out the banks?

  • It won't hurt tax-payers per se. The government runs a deficit - or haven't you heard? The deficit will get larger. The Fed will have to monetize much of it. So the Freddie/Fannie intervention will further wreck the dollar. Higher inflation, not higher taxes, is the inevitable result.

    "Imply-edly?"

  • I'm hoping the first part of your comment was satire.

Anyway, yes, "impliedly" is a word. Go look it up on DictionaryDOTcom. I'd give a direct link, but YouTube won't let me post a URL in a comment.

  • No, it wasn't satire. The bailout will be paid for through inflation, not direct taxes. At least not direct taxes on this generation. Inflation is worse than direct taxation, because it hits the poor and middle classes the hardest.

Here's the thing. The government does not collect enough taxes to cover what it spends. The shortfall is covered by borrowing. When it does not borrow enough from China, etc., the Fed buys the bonds and prints money from nowhere. The result is crushing inflation.

  • If the gov can borrow from overseas and ensure that freddie and fannie can become profitable in a long term, it would offset the interest and become a win/win situation.

  • If frogs were horses, they would have plenty of flies to eat.

  • How does this answer anything?

  • The same phone poll I recieved was recorded by someone and posted on YouTube. It was the same poll word for word and totally left out Ron Paul as a choice. When are people going to stop falling for this shit?

  • They are using the exact same tactic as they used against Ron Paul. They are trying to make everyone think they will WASTE their vote on Bob Barr by using inaccurate polls to make it look as if he doesn't have a chance! Just before the Primaries began, I was polled for the first time in my life thru a phone poll. It asked me who I would vote for if my states primary where today. It totally left Ron Paul OUT as a choices!!!!! So what the hell do you think he polled at in that rigged poll????

  • I want to punch that fox news guy.. that would be fun!

  • 3% chance he'd enjoy it!

  • That smirk on the anchor's face when he pulled out that old poll just pisses me off. What a neocon tool.

  • Bob can raise the Barr on the office of president!

  • Barr is the one for America. Look what mccain said today july-14-08 to a mexican group ""I feel I must, as they say, correct the record," said McCain. "At a moment of great difficulty in my campaign, when my critics said it would be political suicide for me to do so, I helped author with Senator Kennedy comprehensive immigration reform, and fought for its passage." source cnn. This guy want to give all the illegals a citizenship..I cant believe the GOP nominated this old liberal.

  • Bob Barr has my vote. It's about time the media realizes he is a contender that is better qualified then Obama or McCain. I sure hope he can get enough support to be in the debates.

  • As a Libertarian Party member I'm going to vote for Bob Barr, but I would also like to point out something that doesn't seem to be noticed: Bob Barr is MORE QUALIFIED than either Obama or McCain. He has had an extensive background in several areas and also grew up in Malaysia, Pakistan, Panama, and finally Tehran, Iran where he graduated from Community High School in 1966. Compare his experience to the other two and he out shines them.

  • "We'll step in to help if something goes wrong." Okay, maybe they don't issue brains to newspeople, but anyone with an IQ over 60 would define that as a bailout.

  • I know, seems pretty strange that the anchor wouldn't know the definition of bailout when it's staring him in the face.

  • "Restructure" how?

  • He has my vote, the 2 party system is broken.

  • President Barr. nice.
