just got my first halo a month ago, reach, and here is my comparison.

Campaign: halo by far

Custom Games: halo, definitely. forge is awesome and i wouldnt even bring up private matches and custom games if i were just comparing cods or cod to bf3.

Public matches: Cod by a landslide. only played 20 matches of halo and cod is so much more fun.

summary: cod is slightly better since most people mainly play pub matches (all of this only my opinion) but halo so fun when playing with friends in custom

The reason CoD is loved is because of its easiness to play.

The reason Halo is the more skillful an fun to play is because of its team based factor, where you must play as a team to win 99% of the time.

The reason BF is adored by some is because it is the mixture of the two, as its harder then CoD, but has the team based side of Halo.

The reason Gears is AWESOME! is because of the sheer blood shed and brutality of it.

I'll always be a Halo fan, but other games are good too. Halo 4, Can't wait!

I hate it when people say COD is too easy. If you make just 1 mistake you're dead. If you don't have you're head on a swivel you're dead. If you lower you're awareness for a split second you're dead. battlefield3 and cod are in the same boat, both lack balance what makes battlefield worse is its dependent on teamwork and no one communicates and people rarely play their roles at least on the ps3. say what you want about halo but its balanced, easy to understand, highly competitive, and team based. people that dont like halo are either bad or casuals. you cant just say a game sucks you have to make valid points. BF3 was broken at launch and still is, COD rips from so many other FPSs its sad.

Love halo, you can pretty much do anything in it. community is very playfull and not that hardcore. COD is like the serious variant with the fast action and the competititve side in it. The game was never meant for me. BF is a game that i had never played until some time ago. It was really cool to play and probably the most realistic looking of all 3. I like halo the most but comparing those 3 is like comparing apples, pears and oranges :D

Halo 3 took a little skill, Halo Reach takes ALOT of skill(especially for mlg), Cod doesnt take that much skill, you just need to be able to point an acr supressed at a doorway for an entire game and bam easy 20 kills with little deaths.

Both CoD and Halo are great games, and I'm a huge Halo fanboy. CoD appeals to a broader range of gamers. I have a friend who plays almost exclusively CoD and sucks at it. He goes into Halo and gets like 1 kill a game because he actually has to aim instead of spraying in the general direction of players and getting kills. Halo requires much accuracy and gun strategy, but because CoD rewards the player so often with unlocks, it is more often played. CoD does take greater reaction time though.

IMO, Black Ops had the best most elaborate Campaign story of any COD to date, starting out strapped to a interrogation chair not knowing whats going on & being asked questions that remind Alex Mason of Operations of the past, so your really just playing memories it's ingenious. I've played the Campaign of Halo Reach as well but it just seemed like another another futuristic shooter with some perks & space combat. I like them both they are great games but just prefer Black Ops over Halo Reach.

Those are not the "same game types" , they are both shooting fps yes, BUT halo is a more "fake" game( and by that i mean it is not realistic), CoD on the other hand tries to be a game as more realistic as possible, that makes those 2 uncomperable.
