  • Good lord, 4th bass!

  • them boys chopping

  • This was before the season even started in May. First run through in uniforms. I was the missing snare who was at high school graduation. We marched 7. Great times. As far as unclean again it was May, priority not on candence, and to repeat Flack, 0.2 behind BD drums finals night with 9.2. Nuff said. What up Flack! Digler

  • Whatever the make of the drums, however they played, I think we can all agree it is nice to be out of the 90s and the era of small snare lines.

  • @Inspadave I play in high school marching band and I play snare this year in a line of 6, but 2 of them are starters in football, so it ends up being a line of 4, and I'm playing tenors next year, so it's only gonna be a snare line of 3 when we play at football games.

  • bring back the black unis!

  • when those quints started playing, my face melted.

  • Did anyone see the bass drummer on the left marching out of step/

  • so dynasty was still making shitty drums back then too...

  • @multibuddhaneo They had been marching pearl since 1985 you fucking dumbass

  • @JessOnTheRun you don't know a fucking thing...they used premier drums 93-97 you fucking retard

  • This cadence is THICK! YOU PLAYED IT DIRTY HERE!!

  • For all haters out there - remember that drum lines don't invest their time on cadences. I played them about six times during a summer vs. 30 shows a summer.

  • sex offically starts at 0:20

  • what exactly are the tenors doing from 0:19 to 0:21

  • affleck was the bomb in "phantoms"

  • you are my hero

  • @hotdogsplinter phantoms like a muthafucka.

  • @hotdogsplinter too much like for one button!

  • Someone below said we were a really dirty battery. We scored a 9.2, 2 tenths behind devs that year. We did just fine.

  • I agree. You people were slammin'. Besides, one can never judge a line off of a run of their cadence.

  • @Fliggamoso

looking for a better recording, I can't hear the bass runs.

  • @Fliggamoso GO FLACK!

  • @Fliggamoso what i dont understand, is how people rag on cadences, they're called street beats for a reason. and if you're just finishing a show you're probably coming off an adrenaline high so its ok if a cadence is a little fuzzy it isnt judged anyways. i guess people just like to start crap.

  • Just some info on this.

Cadence is based off of Freak Out by 311

We had 7 snares, not 6. One was at graudation because he was in high school at this point in the year.

This was dirty for 2 reasons. Early season and cadences are not top priority in drum corps. We were working to get the show ready at that point. This video is difficult to really see where we were as a battery.

  • i believe the Phantom Regiment show for 1998 was "Pines of Rome"

  • Smart for removing your comment, frankbombs ...

  • didnt phantom regiment only wear black uniforms during '96?

  • this was at their preview show in Rockford. I shot it ---so that's how I know.

  • Cheesy uniforms ;)

  • Were there only six snares that year?

  • were r the cymbal players?

  • i think it was b/c the sound quality. it would be stronger if you could hear the basses.

  • now thats a line you dont want to be in the way of!! just the intensity in their marching alone is enough to get my nipples hard!

  • really... i would have thought it was a high school if it weren't for the title.

  • I agree... Doesn't really sound or look like the PR I've watched over the years!

  • Err ... School lines typically don't even _attempt_ to play inverted cheeses, inverts, hertas, flam drags, flam 5's, or really complicated split bass drum parts, much less play them cleanly.

  • hmm... see 4:01 of watch?v=c3dFTwIgdAw

  • lol idk where you're from but i see tons who do

  • Key word there being "typically"

  • I dont liek the black unidforms, theve always been white....

  • Obviously not if they're wearing black ones in the video.

  • Not always... after the black was a cream colored jacket with tie on sash and white pants, then back to white.

  • @jadebrew Khaki, cream is what crown wears. But yes it was a Khaki Jacket, white pants, black sash and helm.

  • Sweet...I shot this! This was at the dress rehearsal run through in Rockford. Nice to see again

  • it sounds flat. maybe its just the camera though

  • that line seems small for dci

  • Bass drums are directional.

  • it's like impossible to hear them though

  • Anyone have the snare or tenor music?

  • buy your own, moocher!!!

  • What? lol

  • Buy your own music for this cadence!!!!!!!!

  • I like these uniforms for the regiment a lot more than the ones they have now.

  • If you grew up watching Phantom since the 80's you wouldnt. They have been all white forever and when they went black the crowd shunned them. As stupid as it was they lost fans over uniform color.

Pines of Rome was a weak show for PR. Could have been SO much better. A lot of dirt in the battery that year too. Still love Phantom though!

  • im pretty sure that was pines of rome for their show that year, which would explain the capes, does anyone have that cadence writtin out?

  • Nice Capes.

  • Damn good cadence. Just added to my favs.

  • wow this just verified the fact that paul rennick was the best thing that ever happened to phantom regiment percussion lol

  • wow.. out of step bass on a dci line... wow

  • WOW bottom bass cant even march in step thats sad, come on PR!!!!!!!

  • Not bottom. That was bass 4. As you can see at the start of the vid, there are only 4 basses. At this point in the season we had gone through two guys on bottom bass. They couldnt hang, so we were getting another one ready for the season. And that part that LOOKS like he's out of step is in 7/8. So marching across the bar line is fun....:)

  • I understand 7/8 marching is fun, but the lowest bass is out of step from :48- :51, look at the rest of the lines feet, and the top bass, or 1of4, its a nice recovery but come on, I am not blind. Smokin line though. Not hating, just observing.

  • Cool, they are actually using the Cool looking Harnest!

    LOL

  • The cadence was based off of 311's Freak Out. I'm pretty sure Glassmen did a cadence based off of this as well, but ours was different. This video was not from a show. This was the first Runthrough in Uniform for Phantom Regiment in 1998. Hence the cadence being DIRTY. Crowd was just staff and friends. There were 6 snares at this performance because one was in High School and had to go back for graduation. (Im the 2nd tenor closest to the crowd...:)

  • Phantom marches Quints, not 6-packs

  • And they look to be indoor drums

  • PIMP!!!

  • only 6 snares!?!?!!?
