Take another airline! I was at Amritsar airport and the organisation was pathetic the stafff were not doing much at all and they were being very rude to people at check in. When I got to the front of the cue after being stranded due to volcanic ash they told me that Air India has cancelled my flights and they cannot help me! I saw their staff shouting and pushing people in the check in cue. It was a scandal even the Indian security forces had a go at the staff in the airport over the treatment!!

This airline is pathetic ok! Please do not travel with this airline! Last year I was a stranded customer in Amritsar due to the volcanic ash situation in Europe, Air India ignored so many of these stranded customers and each time I called the airline they would put the phone down on me when I told them I was a stranded customer. I had to buy new tickets with Air France and Air India kept my money and did not get me home. The staff are very rude and are do not hold much intellect with manners !!!

I will never fly Air India for many reasons:

1.) I don't want to die lol.

2.) I don't want to be served Cow Urine when the beverage service commences.

3.) I don't want to be served elephant shit and monkey semen when the food is served.

I traveled on Air India - JFK to London, very nice flight on a 747 in 1981. I couldn't understand the language of the movies they played, but the food was really good even though I didn't know what it was. They fed us like 3 x in a flight.

I think Jet airways or Kingfisher are WAY better. Air India is the "official" (read government) air craft of India, and in my opinion very rude. I once traveled from New York to Mumbai via Paris and N.Delhi. They made the flight wait for 4 hours at night in Delhi because some MP had a reservation, and he wasn't in the airport on time!!! We were like, jeez... we have been traveling half the way across the world and you delay the flight 'cause some MP didn't bother to show up on time?

It's standard has improved considerably in the last few years, frequent travellers will know. Although, flight safety has taken a beating.
