I finally beat this game today! No save states, no cheat codes, no warps. Half a year of playing during recess almost drove me insane, but when I beat the Dark Queen into submission it felt sooooo GOOOOD! Hours of anger and frustration instantly evaporated, leaving behind only bliss.
I beat the game also ... this was so long ago I used to spend countless hours playing this.... I don't know why people said this game sucks.. It is an outstanding game hard&fun

The Battletoads ending isn't that bad, I thinks it's fine. At least it didn't show a single black screen displaying just the words "YOU WON!" on it. This ending of the game actually showed a cutscene!
There's a running joke that "I Wanna Be The Guy" was based on Battletoads. But the joke fails as less than 12 people on the planet have beaten Battletoads before (without cheating or using HAX!).

Very few gamers ever made it past level 3, let alone level 12. This was definitely one of the hardest NES games but it was also one of the most fun, and certainly one of the most original.

Battletoads would have been far bigger commercially if the INSANE difficulty level was tweaked the Gameboy version of Battletoads is slightly easier and one of the best games i have EVER played.

Exactly! I was 6 when the NES first came out. My biggest challenge (and FAVORITE NES game) was G.U.N Smoke...A masterpiece in it's own respect. My friend and I got to the final boss after WEEKS of playing this 6 stage game only to find out that once you gun down the final boss, he gets back up and goes ape shit! That was when we were 7 or 8. I FINALLY beat it right before I met my Ex wife at age 25! Now THAT'S a HARD game.I could beat it w/ my eyes closed now...Not the point, though.

alright yo played this when i was a kid busted it out two days ago the levels are all pattern and rythem with the music 1st lvl knock teh crap outta the pigs quick jump up on teh hill and warp to car lvl
car lvl thats all rythem so but when u hit the green checkpoint count 4 walls appear at the bottom of teh track and try and run into the 5th one coz theres a warp there into the snake pit..
snake pit u do teh 1st part(reli easy) then on the 1st snake in the 2nd part as it goes up and starts to move across screen again jump off the head avoid the spikes and run into a warp to surf city easy as
surf city is just a lvl to get all the 1ups if u know were they r (tip for surf city rat boss) stand in the corner with the stick then when he tries and jumps on u move and just keep hittin him with the stick he dies easy next is the lift lvl BAH
this level u just have to get good at and is quite easy once ur use to it people playin two players will fail on this lvl haha
next is teh vent lvl...GOOD LUCK all i can say is U CAN HIT THE STUFF IN THE WATER ATTACKING YOU once u complete it once u can do it and maybe die once if that next lvl is RAT RACE hurts ur fingers double tappin srpint every sencond but its a frusterating as fuck lvl all i can say is its not impossible just keep trying
Wasn't battletoads in battlemaniacs a prequel to this? Then you have the battletoads/double dragon game, the gameboy version & finally the arcade game. Hmmm... Can't wait to try the arcade version in mame that must be awesome!
Don't forget that there is a gamegear and genesis game for battletoads and there is a battletoads/doubledragon for genesis also. Those guys sure get around.

car lvl thats all rythem so but when u hit the green checkpoint count 4 walls appear at the bottom of teh track and try and run into the 5th one coz theres a warp there into the snake pit..

snake pit u do teh 1st part(reli easy) then on the 1st snake in the 2nd part as it goes up and starts to move across screen again jump off the head avoid the spikes and run into a warp to surf city easy as
surf city is just a lvl to get all the 1ups if u know were they r (tip for surf city rat boss) stand in the corner with the stick then when he tries and jumps on u move and just keep hittin him with the stick he dies easy next is the lift lvl BAH

this level u just have to get good at and is quite easy once ur use to it people playin two players will fail on this lvl haha
next is teh vent lvl...GOOD LUCK all i can say is U CAN HIT THE STUFF IN THE WATER ATTACKING YOU once u complete it once u can do it and maybe die once if that next lvl is RAT RACE hurts ur fingers double tappin srpint every sencond but its a frusterating as fuck lvl all i can say is its not impossible just keep trying
after that is rollercoaster lvl

Wasn't battletoads in battlemaniacs a prequel to this? Then you have the battletoads/double dragon game, the gameboy version & finally the arcade game. Hmmm... Can't wait to try the arcade version in mame that must be awesome!

i loved the speed bike part on this game. congrats on beating it. I never could. this was one of the funnest yet most difficult games to master in its day.

i remember being a kid and thinking the cutscenes in this game were awesome, i loved that space ship, but it was hard as hell, don't think i ever got past the 3rd or 4th level
