George was an amazing guy, Christian, and singer !!! He is now at rest with the lord, and Id like to imagine he gives a concert for God every day !!! And one day for all of us !!!
I want to thank you for posting some of the older Southern Gospel singers! They are such a testimony to everyone especially younger folks! Younger people can learn a lot from them! Praise God!!
FANTASTIC song and singing by the all time great George Younce, Always such a pleasure to listen to him...Thanks going out to ramey58, (Mark) for sharing this with me and to hoover4000 for posting it..
This is the best bass singer i ever heard in my life,i had the privlage to see them in concert and they where the best days in my life.Till this day they are still my favorite gospal gourp.
George Younce, Glenn Payne & The Cathedrals Quartet have always been one of my favorites. George is one of the best Bass singers ever. If you like Bass singers take a listen to Lonesome Road/ Jericho Road by The Rangers. This guy is awesome too. One of the best Bass voices I have ever heard & definetly moved into my top 5. I have been a Quartet fan for 40plus years & don't know how I missed these guys. Charlie Gilmore passed away in 2004. Jerry Redd one the best Tenors ever is playing piano.
LUCKY!! i'm only 14 so i haven't had much time to see the Cathedrals (i've only been old enough to sit through concerts for a couple years) but i REEALLYY want to. this is my favorite song they sing.
I know it. i started playin it. and was movin, and almost dancing. ( even tho i can hardly move :( lol ) this song, this version, is one of, if not THE best
Does that bring back old memories:) Thx for bringing a little bit of nostalgia, "I ain't gonna need this house no longer." How appropriate for our current time. Funny how that happens. Wonderful to view & yes, I want to be in that number, when the Saints Go Marching On. To the performers, in this video, most of whom are with God now, I know we will see you there, at that right time In not to distant future, I would suppose. "We'll ain't gonna need this House no longer"" Praise YWHW ...Amen
My dad passed away last week and this was one of his favorite songs. He would go around singing it. He had a big booming bass voice. He is singing it with George now.
Just wanted to give you a quick reply - your faith shone through this comment deep and wide - and the joy of the savior through a sorrowful time is truly amazing what a testimony - God Bless You
can u find video of them singing a song called "Hold Me"...i have seached everywhere...it is from 1995...it was my father's favorite song and he passed in 1995...i understand if you can not find it but would be grateful if you know the song i am speaking of...God Bless and thanks for the amazing uploads...something about that old time religion :)
I just caught some of this on GACTV and as a non-religious person, I really respect the talent and showmanship of these guys. I was saddened to hear that George Younce had died
My girlfriend just broke up with me and i found out my grandpa has lung cancer and i found this out all yesterday but this song is no doubt going to help me
nrpielstick, cancer is hard to cope with, but God is far, far stronger than cancer or anything else that life can throw at you. Trust him with whatever treatment or surgery your grandpa goes through. You never know when God will pull off a major miracle for the sake of those who trust him.
I've met JD and the Stamps Quartet back in the early 1990s. Great group also, but I don't like to take favorites with these two as the Stamps AND the Cathedrals are both great. JD Sumner and George Younce were awesome singers and great men of God. They have earned their rest among the saints. They are missed, but I plan on seeing them again some day up there! What a day that will be!
i have no embarassment or shame in saying that their music is some of the best music ever period. no matter what kind of music you like, you simply can't deny. they're musical GREEK GODS.

I've actually thought of killing my self to get there faster (over it now), but I know that's not what God wants. He wants me to stay here and help spread His word. Hopefully I can join a quartet like this because I love their music so much

I wouldn't wish any of them back because they are in HEAVEN face to face with Jesus.,
What a reunion it will be. What music!!!! I'm looking forward to going to be with them.
