I too would encourage young women of today not to try to be walking sticks just to try to fit in, But there is also a responsibility to being first lady and I think she should try to set a better example with her diet and weight and her selection of foods. There has to be a happy medium, in the past several years huge butts and giant thighs have become the unhealthy norm. Its not good and it all catches up later. Moderation is the key.
Personally I don't think she is fat. She is curvy and there is nothing wrong with that. I think she contributes plenty when it comes to being a role model for women and young girls everywhere. She is confident and sends the message that it is okay to be you. She seems comfortable in her own skin and that should be the ultimate goal of every human being. Not everyone is comfortable wearing a size 2.

Bill Clinton waited 7 yrs...even then was hesitant, but we supported his respite, he earned it. Date nite for the Carters & the Bushes was preparing eachother a special meal or having a quiet dinner on the terrace. Its supposed to be about being alone...not showing off while the country suffers.

The concern is the extreme amount of money spent on the date at the expense of the American taxpayer, This comes when the economy is seriously struggling, unemployment is very high, and may are suffering foreclosure. Additionally, he asked the American people to sacrifice even more while billions of their tax dollars are being mismanaged in the bailouts. Going on a lavash outing shows a lack of empathy to the plight of many Americans. Things are not going well, he needs to show leadership.

Tripp: I never thought I would say this, but maybe people are right. Maybe there is no way to just meld together as just plain PEOPLE or plain AMERICANS. I see now how strong the discord is on both sides. Living in the NorthEast, racism has not been in the forefront. I actually thought we were beating it. But when an educated Black man is called names & shunned by his own people for making his own choices,,,& on the other hand the Nword is still thrown around at will, maybe there is no answer.

Unfortunately, I think you may be right considering that we have a whole lobbing infrastructure dedicated to making race, entitlements, etc. an issue. Once these organizations are created, they will always need a cause to justify their existence, some good/some bad. It also serves as a distraction to government abuses. Thanks, RJ

There is not much difference between Bush and Obama.
Obama has proposed massive spending, just like Bush
He has made it so the government can't be sued if they spy on domestic citizens, an act worse than Bush.
Just a few days ago he proposed preemptive detention of citizens with no charges filed, worse than Bush.
But I doubt it would do any good to tell people because he could be executing orphans on the White House lawn and his followers would still think he was God.

I too would encourage young women of today not to try to be walking sticks just to try to fit in, But there is also a responsibility to being first lady and I think she should try to set a better example with her diet and weight and her selection of foods. There has to be a happy medium, in the past several years huge butts and giant thighs have become the unhealthy norm. Its not good and it all catches up later. Moderation is the key.

Personally I don't think she is fat. She is curvy and there is nothing wrong with that. I think she contributes plenty when it comes to being a role model for women and young girls everywhere. She is confident and sends the message that it is okay to be you. She seems comfortable in her own skin and that should be the ultimate goal of every human being. Not everyone is comfortable wearing a size 2.

THeCool, Well, Lee had a point because in recent history any of the younger First Ladies have kept themselves trim. This is sort of a surprise. I think with the way so many of the young girls today seem to be in a contest as to who can grow the flabbiest Butts and biggest thighs, a slim, trim First Lady would help set an example of a healthy diet. And having given birth twice over a decade ago certianly leaves plently of time to recapture trimness.

Mmogal, I am speaking from a health point & don't really care what Black men or White men or anyone "prefer". The point is in the past few years some of the example setters have been too big. I did not name a color. I dont' think a waif look is healthy either, but there was a day when we grasped that a huge butt & big legs meant someone was overweight & therefor not a healthy example. I heard that Obama has been to Camp David less than a handful of times. I though presidents went there every weekend! Obama is in charge of the USA and has to fix it. Obama has disappointed me on many things, but nowhere near as many things that Dubya did.
Dubya deserves to face war crimes charges. If Obama fails to bring war crimes charges then he too deserves to face war crimes charges. Dubya's was by far the greater crime, but so far both deserve punishment.

Question: If yU truly held a degree indicating you graduated with Major honors from a presdigious college or law school, why would you pay to have all records sealed? & when half country doubted your verasity, & U could throw the PROOF right in thier faces,why would U let the conjecture go on? I respect all the other candidates who took thier honest lumps for having some wasted yrs in school, but it is not rare, & no price is paid for it. The only embarrassment comes when one tells lies.

As far as I'm concerned, Obama's biggest: "mess up", is standing in the way of Bush administration prosecutions.
If OUR representatives aren't accountable for their actions then we're all doomed; because if corrupt and criminal representatives know they won't be held accountable by the citizens of the US, they won't stop. To these unconscionable criminals way of thinking, why should they? It is up to "We, the people" to stop them. There's no one else.

What I do know is that he paid for the drinks the food and the tickets.. The only thing "we" paid for was the security detail and their transportation.. which is something he would not have to have if he were not president... so we should pay for that. It it crazy to think that any president is going to stay home 24-7.

ofcourse not, but a responsible, compassionate president does not self indulge in such an over the top manner after only a few months as president, during one of the hardest times in American History. Bill Clinton waited 7 yrs...even then was hesitant, but we supported his respite, he earned it. Date nite for the Carters & the Bushes was preparing eachother a special meal or having a quiet dinner on the terrace. Its supposed to be about being alone...not showing off while the country suffers.

Bush spent tons of money going back and forth to his Ranch 77 times to be exact. That doesn't even include his trips to Camp David and Kennebunkport, Maine. And Bill wasted how much of our money during the Monica Lewinsky trial knowing damn well he was guilty? Who are you to decide what their date should be about? Every woman likes to be shown off once in a while by her man and there is nothing wrong with that.
