To even call it a civil war is a bit misleading. Both sides were NOT equally bad. 83% of all civilian deaths were Bosniak civilians (Research and Documentation Center). "Bosnians that started it" is ridiculous. They would kill all Serbs no matter what age. My family were lucky to be living near more humane Ustashe.

I remember spending 1996 in Gradecac, Bosnia with the US Army. It was the darkest year of my life. There was no freedom as we imprisoned ourselves in a base camp surrounded by concertina wire in the name of safety. As the land mines lay in the fields and roadsides, we worked 7 days a week all day to help the Bosnian people rebuild while securing peace. We employed the Muslim guys who lost everything but their lives and they were great workers. I'm planning on going back next year to take a look.
