Actually I think there might have been a way to play it on Linux via Wine. The soruce code of AvP2 was released at one point, although many claim it was a leak that eventually got pulled. Other than that, it's just compatible Macintosh and Windows, with Windows version being the only one that could run the expansion pack - Primal Hunt.
@samsing900 Well, for the entire campaign, the Alien Drone can kill up to 4 Predators. But it's a surprise compared to 1 Predator popping 100 bugs from a distance. :P

There's a glitch where if you jump or run up next to them and hold shift to stick to the ground, you can clip into them and they will just keep running forward but not moving, so you can pretty much just look up and hold the attack button.

I've always hated the graphics style of this game. Its a better game story wise than the first game but it just doesn't look right if that makes sense.... AVP 2010 looks amazing but never got the support it needed from the developer to make it a truely awsome game.

@henryzetabluewolf Eisenberg (you find out) turns out to be an android and is kept by the queen in the nest as a trophy! The real Eisenberg was killed at the beggining of the alien campaign (you can see him crouching on the floor with bodies around him, blood coming from his mouth)!

They tried to make the game longer by purposely making it hard with having levels where you fight about a dozen or more aliens at 1 time. Also healing and armor items seems to have been purposely reduced to try and make the game 'harder'.
But luckily, I bought PH along with avp2 when they re-released it as a "Gold Edition" package. I would have been much more upset had I bought it around when it was first out for around $30.
I think all of the cloned Aliens with Ripley's DNA from Alien Resurrection would be a huge threat even to experienced Veteran yautjas since they're pattern aren't so easily predictable compared to the regular aliens by being able to think for themselves and without relying as much on their Queen's commands thus it makes them much more cunning and lethal. I mean they would go as far as to sacrificing one of their own to ensure their escape and survival that some real serious shit.
@ShaolinYautja The smartest Xeno is when they're human-controlled, which is nearly equivalent to Cloned Aliens. All these times people are led to believe that Predators are able to beat down tons of Aliens at once because of games. Yes, they can beat down a bunch of CPU-controlled (I repeat, CPU CONTROLLED!!) bugs with no problem. But when it's one human-controlled Pred versus 3-5 human-controlled Aliens, that's when things get "real interesting". Bugs are smarter than gamers think. ;)
@DemonicXeno When there is such a thing like instant stunt/kill pouncing, which is spammed by alien gamers in this game - it's a sure thing, but when it comes to claws and tail vs wirstblades and combistick - well, the things aren't so easy for "bugs" >:] I pwned a lot of pouncing aliens with combistick and I've seen, I don't know, maybe one alien player which was fair, because he used only tail and claws. And he was good - the fight was so interesing, that I refused to use anything but wb ^.^

Cameron's 2 most popular and recognized sci-fi works are ripped off from Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" which the story was first published in 1959 and had similar concept of futuristic human infantry soldiers going up against huge insect-like hostile extraterrestrial lifeforms on a far away planet.
Also, Cameron had ripped off from works of Harlan Ellison to create the Terminator franchise. Although this had been settled out of court for an undisclosed sum of money.
Cameron really did get too much credit than he really deserve.
But he did work on Alien 5 or at least attempted to until Fox fucked him over and said No and then greenlight Paul Anderson's AvP movie. So in the end we end up with 2 rushed AvP films for quick $profit$ -__-
All that money should have been spent on making newer and better Aliens/Predator/AvP games.
I think we could have had 3 more AvP games after AvP2 by now, if Fox had actually care enough about their loyal fans.

@halofan676 The Alien gameplay is indeed fucked up, but I don't agree with the rest. A single Alien Drone can have the potential to mind-fuck a Vet Predator, and maybe kill it if it gets lucky. But not in the same way as this gameplay video. When we play as Aliens against Predators, we never get the chance to use the environment against the Predator. Instead, it HAS to be us fighting the Pred up close (which is really a suicide mission).
Big problem off the bat, we are limited to always using just 1 alien warrior drone in the game. Aliens strength had always been in "numbers". If a xenomorph should be a 1 Player/Character Army I don't see why they don't just allow you to molt or upgrade into a Queen or Praetorian at some point when dealing with tougher hot shot mofos like Vet Preds.
although they can kill humans in one punch, they don't stand any chance against terminators in melee (but that's why we probably will never get a game where aliens predators and terminators are mixed together).
The synthetic androids here are nothing compared to T800s or the T1000. All in all if such a game were made T1000 would beat out all 3 in melee and 1 on 1 although I'm not sure how effective acid will be against it.
Techanclly I think predators are voted the best, beacose one they are badass, two they better then marines if they don't crew the up the planet earth like the one predator did in the second movie of aliens vs perdator! @halofan676 Predators are only considered the best in games. Second, Aliens and Predators should have never crossed over. Three, the only way a Predator can beat millions of aliens is via Self-Destruct. Predators are not invincible... eventually Aliens will triumph.
As long as it's a so called "honorable" fight which is their biggest flaw since they have such blind arrogance with their advance technology. The crossover was done so to start a whole new franchise and milk fanboys wallets. Contrary to the popular belief. AVP officially came into existence first in November 1989 as short comics published by by Dark Horse Comics rather than in 1990 when Predator 2 came out.

They also hunt aliens for the simple reasons that predators are hunters and they hunt a worthy prey.

If they can take out 300 city blocks worth of rainforest with a self destruct device what makes you think they don't have a planet killing weapon similar to the Death Star? And if so, then that would be instant decontamination of 1 infested alien world they cannot risk losing control of.

An "unblooded" pred is a young pred that has Never been on any previous hunts and has never gained any actual prior battlefield experience or ever been in any type of combat situation. Which is exactly what those 3 predators were in the first avp movie.
Personallly I prefer this AvP over the newer one. If only monolith made the game instead of rebellion :/. Game was good, but needed more confined spaces for aliens and marines and longer levels/more levels.
@Biohazard92578 Monolith had their chance... and so did Rebellion. Why Rebellion got another chance is beyond me. Longer levels is good, as long as they mix it up and not overdo it in adding waves of enemies every 2 seconds, and make it open-ended.
@DemonicXeno I think it was a toss up between the two because they are the only ones who knew how to make good AvP games. But in my opinion Monolith did better, and shouldve had the second chance, although primal hunt was boring(unless it wasnt monolith who did that), the quality of Rebellions recent games shouldve been proof enough not to let them near a game as awesome as this. Im still gunna get the next AvP for the sake of playing as an Alien or Predator. Hopefully theyll fix the problems.

@WoWVaeyethron Yeah I was really hoping for (Preds) the net gun, a melee option for the spear (melee crowd control like in this game), a disc that would actually lock on in the right vision mode, and more levels against marines. hated fighting cyborgs, they were only "fun" enemies in the marine campaign.
The Alien campaign needed more of a "look around the area and use the environment" sort of thing, like in this one. It was never obvious where you had to go (usually)

That's because they "greatly" toned down the Predator's health in this game, possibly due to the new addition of equipment.
In the first PC game you can still take on Aliens in melee with Wristblades and have a chance of winning.
Here on the other hand, melee combat again Aliens wtih Predator is suicidal and impractical.
And it is virtually impossible to not get killed in melee on Hard or Hardcore difficulty, since every hit from their claw drains like 25%-33% health!!

I did complete all of them and it was a let down.
They tried to make the game longer by purposely making it hard with having levels where you fight about a dozen or more aliens at 1 time. Also healing and armor items seems to have been purposely reduced to try and make the game 'harder'.
But luckily, I bought PH along with avp2 when they re-released it as a "Gold Edition" package. I would have been much more upset had I bought it around when it was first out for around $30.

I think all of the cloned Aliens with Ripley's DNA from Alien Resurrection would be a huge threat even to experienced Veteran yautjas since they're pattern aren't so easily predictable compared to the regular aliens by being able to think for themselves and without relying as much on their Queen's commands thus it makes them much more cunning and lethal. I mean they would go as far as to sacrificing one of their own to ensure their escape and survival that some real serious shit.

@ShaolinYautja The smartest Xeno is when they're human-controlled, which is nearly equivalent to Cloned Aliens. All these times people are led to believe that Predators are able to beat down tons of Aliens at once because of games. Yes, they can beat down a bunch of CPU-controlled (I repeat, CPU CONTROLLED!!) bugs with no problem. But when it's one human-controlled Pred versus 3-5 human-controlled Aliens, that's when things get "real interesting". Bugs are smarter than gamers think. ;)

@DemonicXeno When there is such a thing like instant stunt/kill pouncing, which is spammed by alien gamers in this game - it's a sure thing, but when it comes to claws and tail vs wirstblades and combistick - well, the things aren't so easy for "bugs" >:] I pwned a lot of pouncing aliens with combistick and I've seen, I don't know, maybe one alien player which was fair, because he used only tail and claws. And he was good - the fight was so interesing, that I refused to use anything but wb ^.^

Cameron's 2 most popular and recognized sci-fi works are ripped off from Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" which the story was first published in 1959 and had similar concept of futuristic human infantry soldiers going up against huge insect-like hostile extraterrestrial lifeforms on a far away planet.

Cameron really did get too much credit than he really deserve.
But he did work on Alien 5 or at least attempted to until Fox fucked him over and said No and then greenlight Paul Anderson's AvP movie. So in the end we end up with 2 rushed AvP films for quick $profit$ -__-
All that money should have been spent on making newer and better Aliens/Predator/AvP games.
I think we could have had 3 more AvP games after AvP2 by now, if Fox had actually care enough about their loyal fans.

@halofan676 The Alien gameplay is indeed fucked up, but I don't agree with the rest. A single Alien Drone can have the potential to mind-fuck a Vet Predator, and maybe kill it if it gets lucky. But not in the same way as this gameplay video. When we play as Aliens against Predators, we never get the chance to use the environment against the Predator. Instead, it HAS to be us fighting the Pred up close (which is really a suicide mission).

Big problem off the bat, we are limited to always using just 1 alien warrior drone in the game. Aliens strength had always been in "numbers". If a xenomorph should be a 1 Player/Character Army I don't see why they don't just allow you to molt or upgrade into a Queen or Praetorian at some point when dealing with tougher hot shot mofos like Vet Preds.

The synthetic androids here are nothing compared to T800s or the T1000. All in all if such a game were made T1000 would beat out all 3 in melee and 1 on 1 although I'm not sure how effective acid will be against it.

@halofan676 Predators have what we could call the code of honor for instance they will not kill a victim that is unable to fight or unarmed, if they worked with a human it's because it was a simple predator who either been saved by a human and both aim for the same goal OR the predator has witnessed a human fight agaisn't aliens and survived and the predator may deem that human as a worthy being. They also hunt aliens for the simple reasons that predators are hunters and they hunt a worthy prey.

If they can take out 300 city blocks worth of rainforest with a self destruct device what makes you think they don't have a planet killing weapon similar to the Death Star? Any unblooded yautja have a high probability of either becoming kainde amedha fodder or being used to bring a predalien to help strengthen the xenomorph hive's defenses in the future.
An "unblooded" pred is a young pred that has Never been on any previous hunts and has never gained any actual prior battlefield experience or ever been in any type of combat situation. Which is exactly what those 3 predators were in the first avp movie.

Personallly I prefer this AvP over the newer one. If only monolith made the game instead of rebellion :/. Game was good, but needed more confined spaces for aliens and marines and longer levels/more levels.

But in my opinion Monolith did better, and shouldve had the second chance, although primal hunt was boring(unless it wasnt monolith who did that), the quality of Rebellions recent games shouldve been proof enough not to let them near a game as awesome as this. Im still gunna get the next AvP for the sake of playing as an Alien or Predator. Hopefully theyll fix the problems.

@WoWVaeyethron Yeah I was really hoping for (Preds) the net gun, a melee option for the spear (melee crowd control like in this game), a disc that would actually lock on in the right vision mode, and more levels against marines. hated fighting cyborgs, they were only "fun" enemies in the marine campaign.
The Alien campaign needed more of a "look around the area and use the environment" sort of thing, like in this one. It was never obvious where you had to go (usually)

The AvP video games and the original comics already shown preds being able to slaughter aliens over and over again cruelly and sadistically with ease.
Pred fanboys are whining about the Alien beating out 2 preds in the first AvP film when they haven't a clue that those 2 preds are "unblooded" preds.
But personally I think terminators beat them both. That's also been done in the comics. Course you don't have to believe or accept it.

Actually it's possible to go to 3rd person mode using this cheat:
While in game press "Enter" and type "cheat mpicu" (include the space after cheat, and Do NOT include the " )
Put cheat between Shift+, and Shift+. > <
I can't put cheat between those characters for some reason when I post the response here, but I'm sure you get what I meant.
The only catch is you will not see your Heads Up Display info and the Crosshair is NOT available.
