what a great recording, and just to think I once owned this record - it disappeared during my last move...I could tear my hair out...I wish somebody would reissue it...
Kpcart.....Yul was not 1/4th Romani Tzigan (Gypsy), but rather related to Ghangis Kahn through his mother. His relation to Gypsies was estabalished while he was in Paris in a Russian community which was eluding the Bolshaviks in Russia. He discovered through Russians in Paris a community of Gypsies which took him in, but he was not part Gypsy. Source of this info is Rocky Brynner's Book of his father.
kpcart, it wasn't spam as you labeled it. It was an honest comment based on Rock Brynners book about is father. If the album cover says Yul didn't play then Rock must have been mistaken.
Hello, Krzysztof! This video pleases me because it reminds me of a very, very big player whose the voice was deep and charming but I do not remember hearing him sing!
A big thank you to all uploaded videos, always very interesting!
i might have been a bit misleading but, because i think he didnt actually play on this recording, it was alyosha and another guitarist, and yul just sang, but he could do the guitar playing anyway (you can see on other youtube vids).
on the back of the record, it lists Alyosha and another guitarists as the instrumentalists, and Yul only as singing. I know he can play, as there are videos arround, but according to the back cover he didnt play in this recording.

Not necessarily my favorite sort of music but he's quite good. He played beautifully in "Anastasia" with Ingrid Bergman.

@kpcart Yul's son Rock said that his dad was playing the rhythm guitar and Aliosha was playing lead.
