  • If you want a platform for finding new good grunge bands and posting ones you know of, check out the facebook page "Spread the word of good newer grunge bands".

  • when did "Nirvana" make a come back? :-P

    ( sorry "Cynic" fans, I couldn't resist )

  • @ByEmptinessAbducted Local H's first album does sound a lot like Nirvana (and a bit like Smashing Pumpkins) but they really evolved their sound over their next few albums.

  • @donwantstobesedated i agree these guys sound very good, but the reason I made my lame comment was my first reaction to this band. (Local H) I was doing a Utube search for a progressive metal band called "Cynic" and this was one of the top results and when I clicked on it I wasn't expecting Local H. I have never heard of these guys ever before, hence my reaction with my silly comment about Nirvana. But all in good fun :-)

  • @ByEmptinessAbducted Cynic is a pretty good band too.

  • To lame that the good music died.... F**k the Mainstream!

  • Comment removed

  • i look up to these guys.i like there powerful music style .i get most of my guitar playing tips from.

  • OMFG F*CKIN AMAZING ROCK....my friend Matt turned me on to these guys and as usual,Matt you were f*ckin right I love them !!!!

  • I'm from Brazil and enjoyed the sounds of these fucking guys !!!!! very nice reminds me of the racket Seattle !!!!!!

  • There ain't no way to hide mistakes in a two piece band. Pure freakin' talent and super ass-whipping skills are what these guys have.

  • original rock at its best for the 30 something

  • A two piece bathing suit from Chicago

  • No matter how much I love Nirvana, the Sex Pistols, or Slayer, this band will always remain my favorite band of all time.

  • this is the kind of music i play on the guitar and i love playing this way.

  • the 3 people to dislike this should be castrated

  • this song makes me wanna break stuff and yell at people like the dysfunctional teenager i should be.

  • I met Scott Lucas last week and he talked to me like a friend. How cool is that? That is a sure way to gain fans.

  • @mrcool665 sure didnt talk to me like that. I asked for a signature, told em they rocked, and then he said he wouldnt give me an autograph unless i bought something.

  • Fucks need to stop sleeping on these guys... What 'grunge" wanted to be

  • Great song. I was not a fan of this band but, they did have some truly talented members. They also had a few really great songs from the first record. RECORD, not tape or cd.

  • Local H > Nirvana

    yeah i said it

  • @TheChrisnew Why choose?

  • @TheChrisnew Nirvana IS overrated that's true.

  • their just aren't bands like this anymore :(

  • rock on local h .if anyone hates this band u can go to hell.

  • Why aren't they recognized more!!!!

  • @MetalSiicken Because the powers that be prefer that your kids drool out the side of their mouths while listening to Clear Channel drivel like Katy, Miley, and Ke$ha that doesn't make them angry.

  • Amazing the sound that can come from so little, talent is spewing forth from these guys.

  • Althought the band isnt really that similar to nirvana the lighting and movement in this music are really similar to the smells like teen spirit music video

  • @abc1235222

It would be cool, but I really doubt

Kurt Cobain & Scott Lucas are related

  • high fivin' MFs needed

  • Every band is a ripoff artist. I mean, if you play electric guitar at a very basic level you are a Chuck Berry ripoff artist at least. Nirvana used the music made before them (most notably the Pixies, Melvins, and Beatles) and created their own sound. Their sound was a pop infused version of grunge. Local H is no more a ripoff of Nirvana than Nirvana is a ripoff of the Beatles. If you want to talk ripoff artists, talk about Bush (who's still better than 90% of the shit nowadays).

  • @donwantstobesedated If you'r bitching about origionality first of all then stop listing to music. If you want everything to be always purely orgional then you will never be happy. They sound fucking awesome, it works why change it? If you honestly want an answer to your problem then its call Tool.

  • @I69Sk8er69I That was the point I was making. People need to stop bitching about originality for the most part.

And Tool took a lot from bands like the Melvins, and personally i prefer The Melvins.

  • @donwantstobesedated Well originallity is pretty important for one, but Melvins are amazing and tool kinda made it their own. Theres a huge difference between copying and being inspired by something, but again i will say. Melvins are awesome

  • The singer looks like a righthanded Kurt Cobain.

  • @imadey0utube their actually related i looked it up in family tree

  • im telling my band mates to play this kind of style i think it would be cool.

  • Local H is the jizz man!

  • Even in this low quality, this music video is better than 90% of current stuff...

    Awesome song.

  • I love the quality of these vids.... I watch almost every other day. Thanks for posting

  • @bobsirebob

Yea, l have the same thing. The camera's from back then are much more cooler than the HD, 3d stuff i dunno, they've got now.

  • I really wish that the quality on either my computer, or the video was better, it still sounds really good, but it's really fuzzy and hollow

  • that's exactly what I was thinking-lay off the Cobain references, any Local H fan knows they were a big influence, so no shit, they will have some similarities...

  • The guy looks like Cobain, moves like Cobain, sounds like Cobain...decent song though.

  • this sounds alot more like janes addiction then nirvana. so just stop with that shit.

  • OH sooo awsome!!!!!

    Slash watch out!!!!! LOL

  • For those of you making Cobain references, it's gotten old already. The comparisons have been played out after 16 years since his death. The fact is that Nirvanaesque music was all around the country, and merely needed to surface from the underground. If record companies had promoted Local H first, then we'd be calling Kurt Cobain a Scott Lucas wannabe. In all honesty, you could even say that Nirvana stole their style and sound from the Boston hardcore scene...making them ripoff artists.

  • I love Nirvana as much as the next guy. I miss the Seattle scene as much as the rest of my GenXers. But labeling a band a ripoff artist, when the band that they are supposedly ripping off is also a ripoff artist...it's ridiculous. All bands borrow their sound from someone, then evolve it. Just as King Crimson came long before Tool....MC5 came long before Nirvana. Noone is truly original anymore, for it has pretty much been done before. So, quit treating Cobain as if he invented "grunge".

  • @WarmothGuitarist THANK YOU!!! Plus, nirvana copied the pixies and Green River. Local H is VERY UNDERRATED.

  • @WarmothGuitarist

Local H formed in 87. Nirvana also formed in 87

Seattle and Chicago. Many miles apart.

They are the results just as "Sub-Divisions" by Rush had predicted.

Garage bands were now grunge bands. All over the country. Technology also boomed which made it easier and much faster to spread music.

    Just how I remember it...

  • wowww cobain much?

  • I miss Joe on drums.

  • ...and it's a two piece, I remember this when I was in the States. Simply awesome.

  • Fucking kick-ass drummer.

  • bit too much like Nirvana, guys

  • @SweetDreamNextNight I tought the same thing....

    Not bad imo

  • i would so do him

  • holy 90's

  • Local H, highly underrated....but I wouldnt have it any other way. Cuz it's just for us....ya know?

  • I know

  • "Joke i become doesn't make you laugh" =]

  • OMG this is so rad it took me for ever find out the name of this band thank you god this shit is killer!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeaaaahh! dude! nice band!

  • Picked up a mint copy of this album the other day at newbury comics.

now i have three copies for the sake of collecting, I think i'm obsessed?

  • i know what you can do, mail a copy to me then we both can enjoy the album

  • @xrtgx22 no it takes 10 to get obsessed and they all have to be bought in Austria too lol

  • man, why cant alt rock be like this anymore?, i miss this on tv, now it's all dumb shit. I just bought ham fisted last wk, and i have, as good as dead, pack up the cats, here comes the zoo, what happened to pj soles?, 12 angry months. been a big fan since day one, just bought the 68 angry minuets dvd, if ur a fan its a must have to own. local h all the way!.

  • Now you know where your 6th thumbs up comes from.

  • i have all of these, but what i value most is the majestic saguaro cactus of the American southwest...

  • Been listening to these cats for 10 years or so and they never get old.

  • love this song! just discovered these guys! those youtube recommended videos ARE good for something lol

  • Local H is AWESOME! goin' to see them tomorrow night (12-29-2009) in Grand Rapids! if you haven't seen them live, i highly recommend you do! they're AWESOME!!!! ;)

  • amazing and a half, i cant wait so see them live

  • very Nirvana like... love it

  • this video is awsome. it looks like a video you would watch wen smoking weed

  • @usmg12 your a doushe

  • I caught these guys live recently on accident, and imagine my surprise when they sounded more like Helmet than a radio band. I always just assumed it all sounded like "Bound For the Floor."

  • Instead, you discovered they sounded just like Nirvana? Heh, just kidding (sort of). I've been a fan of these guys since the mid-90s. Good stuff.

  • @likeitis2020 oh you are so wrong, well was. there a great band. expecially live

  • i swear this band is so aswesome

  • that drummer is bad ass

  • Great song, the best off Ham Fisted for sure. Also, hilariously cheesy robot animation. Is that intentional or did they have a budget of about one dollar? This isn't THAT old.

  • I never stuff from "Ham Fisted" had videos. Awesome! Theyre still one of my favorite grungies

  • there drummer is fuckin awesome we need more black drummers im gonba start

  • pitty he left the band

  • Chicago's best kept secret for sure.

  • greatness....pure greatness

  • local h rocks

  • this is music man........raw energy, hardcore riffs, its music;)

  • brings back memory of the grunge generation nirvana and pearl jam

  • Local H......Fucking amazing and way too underated.

  • @Sappy22889 No thats more Spastic Ink and Cynic that are Fucking amazing and way too underated.

  • @SpartanLaserCanon haha you came here because of the band cynic. me too :D

  • this song is pretty good, it just seems like all the underground bands are the best around, especially underground grunge bands

  • The animated monster (Son of Kroy) in this video was made especially for this Local H video by the infamous artist Eadweard r. York in Los Angeles. It was featured on MTV, and Bevis & Butthead.

  • LOL, A lot of ole skool potheads could relate to that.

I remember watchin this video w/my cousin in the early 90s on some Beavis &Butthead episode. Hell, we smoked hella bud in those days, lol.

1990s were fuckin fun, dawg!!! I pity the new generation. I am married now with 3 kids now(been in the Army and College). Hip Hop m was good /Rock was good lIfe was good , everything, man.

Maybe the 2010s will be a btter decade, but the Clintonb Dayus were awesome.

  • Meant to say Clinton Days. Hell, Im drunk . I still drink. lol. : D

  • great grunge voice

  • Amazing song. Takes me back to a time in my life when life didn't suck lol.

  • You know what, Local H is great. Zion fucking Illinois .

  • this song is awesome

  • Comment removed

  • Joe Daniels fucking rocks...Where is he now?.

  • He went to be the owner of a Children's Clothing Shop in Illinois with his Wife. =D

  • First time I saw this video, I had a nightmare. XD

  • pause at 1:47 ...creeping the shit out of me

  • OH EM GEE!

  • ok Local H sounds like other shit because they're in the same genre! but local h is a good original band. Stop fucking arguing. Its annoying

  • why are people argueing over other music i mean i get the whole "influences define them" vibe ...... but Local H is fucking Local H and just apprechiate the fucking music ...

  • the beatles the beatles the beatles, why talk about a bunch of brit teens who stold music from black guys, the real genuises

  • what does race (and im black) have to do with anything?

  • What's up ? Fellow brotha, I'm mulatto myself. peace.

  • i dont understand.....i meant that much of the beatles music is taken from men like muddy waters.

  • and before that, blues... the real start of "modern" music. without it, we would still be listening to classical-esk. And blues came from slaves... who got what they have from Africa. On the more classical side... Has anybody gotten my sarcasm yet? Music is fucking music. listen and stop trying to prove whos right and wrong. lol. Children

  • AND... if you want to get really technical... The Beatles wouldn't have been anything without Bob Dylan. Paul and John said that he was their biggest influence. ^_^ YEAH BOB DYLAN!!!

  • hell yeah man agreed... and i just give the respect where its due. The only point i was tryin to make was kurt cobain is a major influence in rock. but theres always some dickhead who likes start an argument over anything

  • Maybe you haven't read the history on the Beatles but Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Buddy Holly were John's earliest influences. You may not know that the Beatles were playing in the 50's. Rock on and do your research and sit the next play out!

  • I always wanted to grow my hair out because of Scott. I never got around to it. But now I am growing it out to donate my hair. Seeing this video again reminds me of good times.

  • I really can't understand why these guys are so underrated; they are awesome!

  • Ah, back when rock was about music, not fashion or pseudo, social trends.

  • local h rox

  • yeah not like he changed the course of music, or influence a whole generation, or make 1 of the best songs of all time noted by many, or anything like that

  • no, your thinking of mark arm

  • ummm no.... although mudhoney was a huge influence on nirvana, they weren't the ones that all those wack ass hair metal bands bitched bout ruining their careers

  • without green river or mudhoney (i guess they are pretty much the same thing) grunge would probably not of taken off. if it did it certainly would not be called grunge. i think the hair metal bands only bitched about nirvana because they were the most famous.

  • yeah well you can say the same thing about the pixies and alot of other punk bands, but nirvana was the one who brought the sound above ground. Not taking anything away from mudhoney, but facts is after nevermind took off, the radios stopped playin that shit like winger. Which opened the airwaves for bands like soundgarden, aic, and pearl jam. If you're really trying to get technical, there wouldnt be any of this shit without the beatles.

  • Theyre way overrated, but the Beatles infulenced every rock band technically

  • I fucking hate how I can't see the original comment! I really want to see why 7 people gave the comment a thumbs down and prompted jsik69x to comment as he did. FML

  • not worth the time kid.... just some douche sayin cobain is like the most under rated ever or some shit. regardless glad too see people are still up on this shit

  • Kurt Cobain was never ever under-rated as a musician. Except by critics a little bit. Regardless, he was definately one of the best musicians of the 90's grunge scene.

  • are you kidding? nirvana starrted in 1987 and dint have a otable fan base until 1991 , not alot o people liked kurts tyle in th beginning

  • all you have to do is click "options" beside the comment counter and select "show all" but like jsik69x said, it's not really worth the time.

  • ham fisted.. awesome cd

  • I've seen them a couple of times and my bands played with them too... really nice guys... I like the old drummer better but they still rock live. The new drummer gets tired quick and like the drums stop carying the songs sometimes... he needs joe back!

  • "yea, I made a promise to love myself" = w a n k i n g? HHAHAHhhahahah Joke

  • Local H and Nirvana are two completely different bands.

Just enjoy the fucking music like everyone else.

  • i second that

  • Proper music.

  • first off im here to listen to local h.second, nirvanas lyrics have to do wih drug use and his girlfriends and hisrelationship with his asshole family and undertones of all of the above or like polly he saw a story in the paper one morning about a girl who escaped from her kidnapper when he stopped at a gas station she booked anurisum is about drug use so is on a plain, drain you, mollys lips, milk it,etc...now im going back to local h and have fun again stop with nirvana already2 diff bands

  • How about we all realize that Grunge was a bullshit label that was only slapped on bands that came from the pacific northwest. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees... do any of them sound anything alike? No. Didn't fucking think so. And once they got famous, they stopped wearing flannel, as well. Look a little further than what the media tells you something is.

  • Nirvana is the best and will always be the best grunge band ever.

  • Whoa. Whoa. No.

  • enough with nirvana. They are highly overrated. I mean local H has better lyrics. Plus, Alice in Chains is the best grunge band. Local H deserves a lot more recognition.

  • dude ur right bout the alice in chains statement but i doubt this guy wrote better lyrics then kurt thats just my silly opinion :p

  • What is it with people and thinking Kurt Cobain made great lyrics. I mean it means nothing. Its all nonsense. Kurt himself said that he grew tired of ppl trying to find so much meaning into his lyrics. Now, Layne Staley didn't write that good of lyrics either, but Jerry Cantrell wrote way better lyrics.

  • it's not the meaning of the myrics i mean, it's like when i hear him i jut wanna hit someone in the face or something, you know it gets my adrenaline pumping, and alice in chains have some great lyrics ofc would and down in a hole are fantastic and the unplugged songs

  • read the mad season lyrics also read most of the alice in chains self titled (tripod) and jar of flies then say Staleys lyrics werent that great. Cantrell wrote amazing but you can feel something when you read Staleys that you cant find in anyone else's lyrics

  • Mad Season: Above is one of the greatest albums ever created.

It got through some tough times.

  • Love This Band!!

    ♥♥

  • Hell yeah ! I saw them in NYC in 97/98! 1 of the greatest shows I ever saw! Joe signed my tix stub! Joe is a bad ass drummer wish he never left the band.

  • this song is heavier than a concrete mustache

  • Im quoting that.

  • best comment ever!

  • i dunno i liked all of as good as dead and pack up the cats.

  • this is one of their best. god these guys rule. new album on the 13th, and a residency this week in chicago. can't get any better for my fav. band.

  • fucked up, drunk and stoned. every choice has a no. speech slurred, i called you again. you're not even my friend.

  • Local H's best song. I love Cynic. Ham Fisted is their best album.

  • ham fisted is fucking amazing.

  • this song rox, i can't believe it didn't get more attention. this band never got the reconition they deserved.

  • I'm pretty sure it was because Nirvana was around and just kinda blew them over. Otherwise I have no idea who they got overlooked. I love them and unfortunatly missed seeing them in concert.

  • Missed? They're still together (though Joe Daniels left the band and has been replaced by Brian St. Clair) and they still tour.

  • Haha, missed? Local H tours more than any band I know of. Best live shows EVER!

  • If God was in a band, it would be a grunge band. For sure

  • I'm the one screaming...oh, those were the days...

  • aguante el batero

  • Bad Ass Group, Bad ass song!!

  • what about localh now? are they still alive?

  • Apparently they've been recording a new album.

  • i find it funny Local H came out BEFORE the white stripes but T.W.S. got the attention for being a 2 piece- there was a story about when the band was getting signed; instead of hiring a bass player, he modified his guitar so it could play both the guitar & bass parts-that was smart-

& yeah- smashing pumpkins were VERY overated

    but so was nirvana and pretty much every other band from the 90's;

&as for today... lets just say i miss the classic bands
