I have a few tips from that really helped me when I was at this level. First off, don't be afraid to use auto focus, 9 out of 10 times it will be more accurate than your eye, even the pros use it. Also, the meter in your camera should be used, but don't be dependent on it, look at the photo and judge from there. The last tip is to look at professional photo's and see how they compose them, it'll help try to compose your own. Take a look at Jaredpolin on youtube, he puts out really good stuff.
It's good to see more interest in photography from young people! I'm 17 and I've been into photography for a couple of years now. Stick with it and keep practicing. If you want a look at some of the stuff I shoot go to flickr(dot)com/amr276
keep practicing. dont worry about the haters. keep striving to do more and excel. its only a hobby why are people taking this so seriously. Hes just a kid.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but... one can take these pictures with a regular point and shoot. Probably even get better results. Here are a couple tips for you:
-Read the manual to understand how to effectively use the settings on your D70
-Learn to compose better
-Learn about proper/creative exposure (in other words: learn lighting)
@dasavima Hey I'm fine haha at least you didn't point and laugh and call me names, which is what I hate. This is the ciriticism stuff I like, more like tips not like "you suck at photography learn how to take a picture."
@NickE730 im not 11 im way older than that and you think im spoiled? im the one who spent my 600 something on all that so go cry to your mommy about how jealous you are that you dont have a camera.
@NickE730 hey hey hey man he is still a kid and you shouldnt be saying "Why dont you go die you spoiled fucking 11 year old" just because he punched a hole in your logic.
You really should take some classes on art, technique, and composition. Most of these shots are technically good (properly exposed, focused etc.) but you're missing a good balance between lighting, composition, color, and meaning. None of these shots say anything to me. Don't worry though, we were all at this stage at one point
Nice job! You made some very nice pictures. Keep practicing on the dog photos. When I get a professional camera I'll also make a vid like this for pictures. It'll be good for myself, and for the whole entire world to see me improving ;). I sent you a friend request here on Youtube so we can "keep in touch".
Brilliant photos, I would love to know what settings you used on some of them though as I aspire to be this good (ONE DAY!), especially the Christmas tree shots, that's a great series. Also, I agree, the birds nest *is* so good it deserves to be included twice.
