It isnt actually that hard to tracer a moving helicopter, i do it all the time, u just need to interpretate the speed of the aircraft and follow its flight path, its especially easy if they are just moving in a straight flight path ;) nice video by the way sir.

i played against this person a few times now and hes really good at using the apache. but when i lock on the tracer darts to the apache, he shoots these flare out of the apache and the tracer darts disappears. my question is do you know how to do that with the apache?

@snowmanjyang - He is choosing the Smoke option on the Vehicle Specialization list of perks. It is on a reload timer, not sure exactly how long, but it doesn't feel long enough to me. If they have this perk on, you may need more than one person trying to plant tracers on this guy. Once before to get him to use the smoke, then again after he pops the smoke. Good luck!

Good kill. As soon as I unlocked it, I used the AT4, though. I don't like sacrificing my secondary or a tracer dart and the guided rocket for the AT4 is very effective at taking down choppers and 2-hitting tanks without having to used Improves Demo.

Yeah Apache/Gayvoc can lock on to tracer darts but you need a guy willing to be in your gunner seat with V-ALT or a guy on the ground with tracer dart pistol thing but you can put on warheads and anything on the map will die in two rocket burst if you have any aim but if your a "noob" put on armor get hit all you want your not going down anytime soon

But people don't, cuz they don't want the attention from the chopper, but this game is about team play. Besides, often I get shot down CG or even tanks main gun. Not sure if people cheat or not, but Im sure the chopper will go down with out tracer dart. Darts just seem so, I don't know, childish, and it kinda ruins an otherwise fairly realistic game.

@curtissurfer - Last time I checked, the RPG does more damage against vehicles. Shoot a chopper with an RPG and it almost instantly explodes. The M2 I see used more for killing infantry. I believe it has a larger explosion radius making it ideal for killing soldiers, but do less damage to armor. If you shoot a chopper with the M2 it will do those crashing spins on fire before exploding. The AT-4 seems to do both, but does not work with the Tracer Dart. Instead you get to guide it during flight.

@UneManArmy No, I use AT-4 all the time to guide a missile against any kind of air vehicles (very effective) and it does not do the instant explosion the RPG does. I think AT-4 is a Gustav with a tracer.

@afsbjah2 - Good question, I do not believe they do. If i remember right the Stationary AT's worked like the AT4 in that you could guide the missile mid flight already. To my knowledge the Tracer Dart only works with two rocket launchers. The first is the RPG, and the second being the M2 Carl Gustav.

@nickwarman1. Yea, the Apache is really hard at first to fly. But trust me, it'll get easier. Just don't be afraid to TRY flying it though. Start off with flying the Blackhawk and see how that works out for you. If you feel confident enough. Then go to the conquest mode and play the Atacama Deasert one. I don't know if that's the right name. But there are 2 attack helicopters in it. The Apache and the Havok. Happy Gaming. Rank 46/50

@FudgeButters - Correct, the AT-4 is much like the USMC rocket launcher on BF2. It goes where you aim it and you can correct its path mid flight. It will not work with the tracer dart like the other two rocket launchers which require you to wait for the white numbers before your locked on.

I had an EPIC rpg kill earlier today. it was on atacama desert from the US spawn. Fired one rpg in the direction of Russian spawn. randomly hits the enemy mi-28 on other side of the map as it banked left. I fired it from spawn and about ten seconds later i saw a fireball in the air a mile away.

The Tracer Dart does not lock on the target itself, it only helps the Rocket Launchers lock on after it is placed.

To get your rocket to lock on you must aim at the red square given off by the Tracer Dart until you see white numbers below the box (this is a distance meter). This means you are locked on and your missile will seek out the target.

It takes a couple seconds for it to lock on, it is not an immediate thing..

You shoot the tracer dart on the armor or infantry, which puts a red square around it when you have the rocket launcher out. Then you aim the rocket launcher at the red square until you see the white numbers (distance meter) which is a little hard to see in youtube. One you get the numbers your missile is locked on and you can fire away. That is why my missile curves and hits the target and the other two just go straight past it.

You can shoot the tracer dart on people from what I have seen so far. No you can not shoot bullets out of the pistol or have bullets lock onto your target. The tracer pistol takes the place of your normal pistol. Only some rocket launchers use the tracer dart, there is at least one I read that says it is not compatible with it.

As for the shotgun question, the SIAGA is the second shotgun you will unlock at a certain rank. I think its somewhere around rank 9, but don't quote me on that.

Once first unlocked the SIAGA will only have an 8 round clip. You must get more kills with the shotguns and unlock the extended ammo clip for them to get the full 12 rounds per clip.

Yea, looks like you get it even sooner in the actual game release I guess. This footage was taken from the Beta PC version.

It starts out with 6 bullets now instead of 8, but once you unlock the extended clip it still goes up to 12 shots!
