@thestubbornmule Thanks for answering! I ask because I have budgies but sometimes they won't bath if I put them a little pool in the evening or late. I'll put it earlier!
HI ben, there are quite a few reasons shade cloth isnt a good idea, over time is breaks down and will split, if something lands on it it will put undue stress on the rest of the aviary, yesthe birds can get caught in it, cats & possums will cuase havoc to it also, having said that after you build a steel aviary its ok to cover some parts of the aviary with it for xtra shade & privacy, have a think about it.. how many aviaires have you seen with shade cloth? basically its not a good product 2 use
hi all, im looking to build a large outdoor finch aviary and want opinions about using shade cloth instead of wire mesh? will the finches get their nails caught and will it be strong enough. i live in australia by the way.
@finchbreeder thanks, the price varies between state but they are around one hundred & one hundred and fifty a pair i dont have any for sale atm, they are a licensed bird so you would need one to keep them being an australian species here is some info for you environment nsw gov au wildlifelicences BirdKeepersLicence
Thanks for your kind comments glad you enjoyed it, that perticular bird bath does look empty even when it has water in it and it doesnt take them long to splash most of it out from all their frolocking and flapping, but i just re fill it they really love a bath :)
they are soooo gorgeous ! you could go in the aviary and make a video to sell... i for one would buy it! lovely... is there any water in that bath? it looks empty..
@regalag22 thanks glad you enjoy them, there are a great deal of finches that play well together and some that dont, a rule of thumb to be aware of is if finches are similar in color they can fight as they think its a rival in thier territory this mostly happens in breeding seasons, also "if" the aviary is big enough then more than likely you wont have any issues anyhow space per numbers is the key :)
@benrayjay thanks ben, will do my friend just need to re format the vids to fit correctly on youtube thats the only thing that holds me up atm, but stay tuned they will be coming shortly, p.s good job on your videoes they are looking great :P
@boyle1975 yes, does take a bit to get the hang of but youtube its pretty good at doing it for you now, windows movie maker does it ok too, but even getting one on will give you a head start on how it all works, im sure you can do it,, i did :)
@boyle1975 hey thanks boyle, just reinstalled new windows so i need to put the programs back on to edit the vids but will be on very soon, thanks for your interest glad to see people liking the birds :)
@greenpalaka hi yes the canary in t hat cage is alone as he is a male and is there for singing and because canaries are very good at trying new things ie; seeds and so on and when the other finches see this they are more likely to try new things also, please give me a little more info for "what kind of bird is that" perhaps the time and color and i can then tell you, thanks SM
@thestubbornmule i was talking about the majority of those bird when is said "what kind of bird is that",i should have said that "what kind of birdS are those" soo...what are they?? :)
@greenpalaka please read the original comments all the birds in this aviary are listed by name, if you wantto know the exact specific bird as i said youll need to list the exact time/color/location or google the names of the birds and you will see more of them, thanks for your interest :)
Very beautiful birds. I see that you have Red billed firefinches, they look like Senegala Senegala. As you maybe know there are sex diffrent sorts of Firefinches , i have had 3.
@reloader248 thank you for your comments glad you enjoyed the video, you are very fortunate to have had 3 species in australia we only have the one and cannot inport anymore, just as well i love the red billed firefinch then :)
