Whoever came with this idea is clever. I don't see why this wouldn't work. For the mechanism some sort of magnets would do the job, as for the powering, we've seen already wireless charging.

It's a good question, but throughout the video the phone stops at the exact center. It could easily mean that there are electro magnets, but the thought makes it seem weak, and easy to slide of balance if you push hard enough. My guess is that the middle has a small indentation, and the phone locks into it until you push the face bad down. Then it slides downward and locks again, but it's just a guess.

Looks like it runs on tracks, not that magical, at 2s u can see it stops in the middle and needs to fold down flat to continue. The connecting piece between the two parts would have to be able to move up and down within the track. Makes sense to me, but i wouldnt buy it.
