U of K fans always fall back on the 7 championships. They have not been a national contender for over 10 years now.

In 1985 the NCAA tourney went to 64 teams, anything before that cannot be compared to todays format. It is harder to win a conference tourney these days that it was to win an NCAA tourney back in the 40's and 50's. Only 8 teams in the tourney in those days and the N.I.T. was the premiere tourney. I could go on, but the point is that there is no comparison between then and now.
