  • Bel hommage des Cats

  • Have always liked this song, I just found the this video version today it is fantastic. I got to see Brian for the first time a few weeks ago in Spokane, it was the best show I have ever been to without question.

  • very good 10 out of 10

  • Bel hommage aux grands GENE ET EDDIE

  • stray cats.......the best

  • -3

  • My ticket to see Brian Setzer next month came in today!! yay!

  • Too many people thinking that the Beatles created rock (when they actually have done a lot of harm to it) should know that we previously rocked with GENE AND EDDIE!!

  • Been listening to this song for years..and it always gets my pulse up! True rock n' roll, baby!

  • this is Music people ask me today music is no good

  • I LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • RIP Gene and Eddie ... Awesome song, love that it's basicly combining the lyrics from many of their famous songs, very cool :-)

  • Greatest jamming session ever!!! lol :-) THAT kids, is real music.

  • Real original rock n role died in '58 when I was 17, most stuff after that was to manufactured, even Elvis was not really rockin, but Setzer is a true reincarnation of the original gutsy raw ol rockers, pity is is not better known down under in OZ.

  • This song name is Be Bop al Lula and not Gene and Eddie.. but I like stray cats very much. I also play the double bass

  • @shadeMilenium - Actually this songs name IS Gene an Eddie...

  • @shadeMilenium I don't think this is Be-bop-a-lula, but a tribute to Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochran. by a bunch a guys that can deliver the goods! Yay Brian Setzer, et al!!

  • the beatles didnt invent rock and roll but they were one of the best bands ever they were the ones that got me hooked on rockabilly!

  • @beatlesforever123456

The Beatles? Who the hell are those dumbo's? Never heard of them. We only know Gene and Eddie those were the real stars. This is a great song...add 1000 stars.

  • @jt123egypte those "dumbos" have been called the greatest band of all time by time and rolling stone and many others im not trying 2 fight with u i love gene vincent and the blues caps and eddie Cochran and the beatles basicly started because of eddie cochrans 20 flight rock

  • Wouldnt it be amazing if these boys and countless other Rockabilly and Rock n Roll greats just thought FUCK IT, lets get REAL music back into the ears of the youth of today.. and knock all those commercial, shitty, boring, no talent 'stars' off their fucking perch! ... a man can dream, cant he..?

  • For people stop saying that the Beatles invented Rock And Roll music. Brit pop is not Rock and Roll!!

  • GREAT!

  • GREAT!

  • Motorcycles and rockabilly.... my two loves... <3

  • I wrote a Setzer tribute song (a la Gene & Eddie) called This Kitten is Smitten. In it, I reference 15 Setzer/Cats songs. How many can YOU find?

  • lol this was retro 30 years ago. now its a classic.

  • Excellent....I want a Stray Cats comeback...

  • Hypnotic initial riff.

  • Our band plays this tune! Setzer is a rare throw back in spirit to the true Rockabilly days. Or early days of Rock n Roll. Nice video selection Johnnylively!

  • <3

  • This Song is a Tribute to Rockabilly Legends Gene Vincent & Eddie Cockraine with a little Buddy Holly at the Beginning.

  • @perpetual61 where is the buddy holly at the beginning?? am i missing something all these years?

  • Fucking eargasm!!! I love them SO much!

  • Minha praia é Helloween mas.....esses caras são demais ! psycho-forever !!!!!!!!!

  • awsome garage tunes while working on a rat rod....

  • I don't wanna prejudice the audience by saying I named my 1st stray cat Setzer,I thought Brian would sound too weord for a female cat

  • @Syzygy60 "Setzer" is an awesome name for a cat :D

  • This is one of their more obscure B-sides. The title refers to 50s rockers Gene “Be Bop-a-Lula” Vincent and Eddie “Summertime Blues” Cochran. These were the guys Brian patterned his 3-minute riff-based verse-and chorus songs after. Grease back your hair and give it a listen. I dare you not to dance!

  • Totally awesome, the best song i have ever heard!!

  • Brian sold his soul for the rest of our enjoyment. Hear Stray Cats and other great rockabilly music at rockin626. com

  • ROCKABILLY RULES!!!!!que buenos son...grandes entre los grandes...

  • Brian Setzer is a complete and total genius!

  • loving it...xx

  • I love the Stray Cats and I love rockabilly, as well as psychobilly. Whenever I get drunk, it's what I wanna listen to because it just makes me feel cool, but I take it kind of overboard and it embarasses me later on. haha.

I was with the girl of my dreams at a bar the other night, and sung her Look At That Cadillac from the jukebox...(needless to say they had 'more than disco, man' :P) and she was totally digging it...it was surreal.

  • Music is a cliche, it´s been already done. You just need to improve!

  • Rockabilly-gods!

  • this is one of their best - couldn't believe i was still rockin it out in brisbane last year when they played this i felt 20 years younger just like the first time I saw them in the uk in the early 80s- awesome - only issue I have with the video is that i should have been one of the groupie chicks = i'm too bloody old for that now!

  • There is SOOO much going on in this song! Brian Setzer guitarmaster extraordinaire!!!

  • This song is genius!

  • This song became a lot better once I actually started listening a lot more to Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran :P

  • Love it their best.

  • GREAT SONG. AND, AFTER THIS, MR. SETZER BUILD A GREAT PROJECT "B.S ORCHESTRA";D

  • This is really a great tribute to two of the "forgotten" original rock and rollers...

  • @Erulin68 forgotten??? Never - Gene and Eddie are still alive with her music!!!

  • @Erulin68 You are absolutely right. Nobody remember them

  • @tabbygal7, lol That means you used to be an asshole. Rockabilly has been and will always will be valid music, regardless what year it is, or what the latest top 40 pop songs are. Glad to hear you are doing better ; )

  • i may be stupid for asking but whos the eddie theyre talkin about, obviously gene is gene vincent but yeah idk

  • @KIDmfCasey Eddie Cochran

  • @KIDmfCasey

You dont know Summertime blues??? Eddie Cochran....Go to your video store and rent La Bamba, there you'll see Brian do a great Eddie Cochran.. or search Summertime blues and la bamba right here..

  • As a big Eddie Cochran fan this was definitely refreshing to watch. It's also good to see some archive footage of the man and a tribute song to him. Defintely not a fan of Gene Vincent tho. I can't belive Vincent lived just to waste his life on drugs and booze.

  • A masterpiece by the Stray Cats, perhaps the best recording they made!

  • @jt123egypte How? They robbed about 80% of the lyrics from the other guy's songs

  • @SDADSDSFDSGDA - Yes i know that ! I am old enough to be your grandfather and have all that stuff. But this certainly is one of the best Neo-rockabilly recordings I know. Add 10 stars!

  • @jt123egypte How do U know ur old enough to be my grandfather? I might be 90!

  • @SDADSDSFDSGDA

Making a tribute song using lyrics, riffs and licks of several huge classic songs, and make it sound good, is pretty hard..

  • @meharidude I guess ur right that it's clever how they put it all together

  • yeeaaaaaaaaar!

    they're goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

    Rockabilly 4 ever

    stray cats 4 ever

  • The best....Stray Cats reunion please?

  • @Hallvard69 Yeah!!! But this time they have to tour Mexico!!!

  • Best Stray Cat Ever!!

  • Be Bop a Lula She's My Baby<3

Well There Ain't No Cure For the Summertime Blues:D

    I love 'em all!

    Rockabilly forever!

  • they are gods!

    c'est des dieux!

    estan dios!

    p'tain vive les stray cats

  • I must form a rockabilly band....and rock with GENE AND EDDIE!

  • the reason i got into these guys was cos my dad said i have the same hairstyle as the lead singer

  • Fim De Transmissão!! OK..

  • I grew up on Long Island catching these guys at small clubs - they put on an incredible show,

  • awesome whats the song in the beginning before it starts? makes me wanna pick up the guitar

  • @Xewog It's song called Runaway Boys...

  • Best Rockabilly band ever!

  • Eddie, Gene and the Stray Cats all kick ASS!

  • I still love this SO much. Fuck. You have no idea.

  • I have always Loved that the Stray Cats give a Tribute two of the Biggest Kings in Rockabilly Gene Vincent and Eddie Cocrain.

  • top song about two of best by the 80s best rockabilly rules

  • 1:44 XD Straay Caaats!!

  • My favorite things in this world are smokes, beer, women, and Brian Setzer music.

  • Maybe THE best homage ever done to 2 immensely great '50s icons, Eddie and Gene. Superb music!

  • STRAY CATS!!!!!

  • I wish that more bands would play music like this now :\

  • i fuckn love it !

  • Only masters know how to pay tribute to old legends as they deserve

  • original rock the best!

  • If I had to explain rock 'n' roll music to an alien with just one song, this would be it.

  • @andyinoregon wish I could vote that statement "up" a few more times!

  • great stuff....just gnaws away at ya!!!!!!

  • Brian setzer has outlived gene vincent & eddie cochran combined! Guess he held on tight LMFAO

  • This is so great..!!!

  • cool

  • my uncle says the stray cats were formed in 1979 and went on to be a big part of the early eighties and dissapeared from the charts in the early ninties

  • And like Hendrix they had to go to England to get 'discovered' and signed to a record label. Their first two records were not released in USA, you had to get them in the import section.

  • but they remained a great band to the end, even tho the mainstream changed for the worse

  • bebop a lula she's ma babeeeee

    5*

  • great thanks ! got a detroit nashville sounds . i can hear garage rock in this .

  • IU'm a 12 year old emo/scene punk rock kid I love Stray Cats to death! I went to their get back together concert a couple of years back and had an awesome time. Brian Setzer blows my mind!

  • You should get into Rockabilly, I used to be like a 70's heavy metal kind of guy but Rockabilly is just so much better.

  • Rockabilly is pretty friggen awesome. My parents showed Stray Cats and Brian Setzer to me and I automatically fell in love.

  • You should explore the Genre you might like other related styles of music like psychobilly or find other artists you like more!

  • Haha I listen to so much. My parents are the ones who had shown me a lot of stuck. Like Social Distortion, Stray Cats, Hank Williams III, so much more!

  • you can't be emo and punk at the same time...

  • you're what we call a pozer ...:S

  • I honestly don't care. You don't fucking know me so boo effing hoo call me a poser all you want and 1991Tijmen1991 if you're referring to my my video "DARE THE EMO/PUNK GIRLS" then you should know that I'm the emo one and the girl next to me is the punk one. I just tried to make her look emo.

  • Great post!

  • LOVE IT!!! Stray Cats 4-ever!!!

  • Great!!!

  • this is awesome!!!!

  • tämä biisi on levytetty 1982

  • This is one helluva GREAT tribute song to Gene(Vincent) and Eddie (Cochran). Yea...the 'cats were the best neo-rockabilly band, anyway live. Really dig those Clipp Gallup licks Brian does.Great stuff!

  • Cliff and NOT Clipp. Typo! lol

  • One of their best song!

  • siempre stray cats!!

    autentico r&r

  • the 80s? lol this style of music is just a bit older than that haha

  • the stray cats were an early 80s band, however, their musical style preceeded them by 30 years. hence why they were so hot,... nobody was playing rockabilly in the 80s. it was a refreshing change from flock of seagulls and shit like that lol

  • @guitardevil101 smartass...he's referring to the Stray Cats, as in "these guys" being just a novelty act. And yes, they started in the 80's. gene and Eddie, of course, are from the 50's early 60's. Try reading what is written instead of being a smartass.

  • I used to think these guys were just an 80's novelty act until I heard all their stuff. This has to be their best cut. I love all those great guitar riffs from all those great songs. The Cats prove that you don't need technology to create great rock n' roll.

  • @tabbygail7 your dumb. hendrix and all the thousand of rock groups before this band didnt prove it?

  • @tabbygail7 I totally underestimated Brian Setzer in early 80's,no more

  • @tabbygail7 If remember correctly from what my old man has told me, they went into the 90's but debuted, mainly in the 80's.

  • the stray cats are awesome

  • Real music.

  • man this is the rockabilly for me.

  • Love this song!

    Rock'n'Roll, baby.

  • oh do Johnny b goode and Hound dogg

  • sooo sick!!

  • The STRAY CATS are the kings of rockabilly. Rock On!!!

  • now this is rock and roll !!!!!!!!

  • KICK ASS!!! X-D

  • i wan brians tattoos :)

  • awsome song ! love the guitar ! and they're shirts are really cool ! =D

  • Outstanding from the cats..

  • Hey everybody stop fuedin like the Hatfields and Mcoys fer a sec about the Stray Cats and how about giving a thought to what this song is REALY about.Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochrane becouse on this day April 17th 1960 the car crash that crippled Gene even more and KILLED Eddie happened.(so now that you know that) listen again and CELEBRATE a band covering 2 guys one who gave his life and the other crippled himself even more (he already was wearing a iron leg brace from a war injury)today happened.

  • Hi teddyboyward, I agree with most of what you say!

Except Gene vincent first damaged his leg riding a Triumph motorbike in 1955 but he was in the navy at the time.

I like the staycats and their style! does not mean i have to agree with what some people call the music they play! It was always a point of disagreement in the 80s! With many heated moments! often heard the word plastics used in some of the rows! lol!

  • Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochran. What a combination. The more I listen to music like this, and the music America did back in the 1950's, I am convinced that much of America's future lies in it's past!

  • Well heard it all now im glad we have pureists like Paddy. Heres me for the past thirty years listening to a band thats kept the music alive on a global status. They even were awarded best Rockabilly band in the eighties in the USA . Glad weve all been corrected.Just a last thought bet hes seen showaddywaddy LOL.Dont think the cats are too worried about how their music is thought of Setzer has 2 Grammies they all have money in the bank and call it neo / punk / rock/ abilly does it matter .

  • Have to agree Jess.I wonder what genre paddy thinks the song Rockabilly Rules OK is? Doh!

  • Paddy, how can you even mention Mud and Showaddywaddy in the same breath?Get fuckin real!Music evolves,Stray Cats took the basic Rockabilly sound and dragged it into the 80's.These 3 guys did more for 50's Rockabilly than any '50's throwback band ever did. They covered Ubangi Stomp and kids dug out Warren Smith's original.Explain the fact that Carl Perkins LOVED this band and described them as the "real deal-like us but in their own way".

Have you actually listened to the Blast Off album? Twat

  • Fuck off shit bag! they are a 70s band playing 70s music! With a rockabilly Influence!! and they are no different from mud and showaddywaddy from that time who played the same type of music!! deal with it prick!!

  • Oh listen up...Paddy the Oracle has spoken!Have the men in white coats let you near the computer again?Didn't think you'd answer the Carl Perkins reference somehow! And do please explain how 1980(Runaway Boys-1st hit) is in the '70's?Deal with it?Fuck off knobhead.

  • Comment removed

  • its called neo rockabilly like the polecats they are neo rockabilly.

ofcourse it doesn't sound like gene vincent or eddie cochran but that doesn't mean it isn't rockabilly

  • neo rockabilly! well pal that is not rockabilly just because you call it something that does not mean it is! Queen etc called it rock n roll but it was not! at lest not it was meant to be! As simonrocks said you can hear the rockabilly influence but thats it!!

It is still a 70s band with a 70s sound to it!

  • Great tribute by The Stray Cats to two great Rockabilly cats : Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran

  • OK in response to some private comments!

The stay cats are NOT a rockabilly band they look and sound like what they are a 70s band!

that's like saying mud and showaddywaddy are rock n roll bands!!

look up blue cats for real rockabilly music from the 70s onwards!

  • Of course the stray cats are rockabilly. They have the spirit of Rockabilly, you can hear influences from both Rock 'n' Roll and Hillbilly music.

Fair enough, this song doesnt sound particularly Rockabilly but there are others that do like Rock this town...

  • lol! you are disagreeing with yourself!

"Of course the stray cats are rockabilly"

"Fair enough, this song doesnt sound particularly Rockabilly"

Sorry pal they are not rockabilly!

they have a 70s sound! they are a good band I i dont disagree with that! but rockabilly NO!!

  • If this sounds '70's I'm Yoko Ono!

  • HI YOKO

  • Twat

  • fantastic song, can only be played LOUD !

  • i love this band

  • im 13 and i LOVE the stray cats i went to there concert in Adelaide ... AMAZING i love them more then over now im obsessed with them...best rockabilly band ever!

  • Rockabilly and Cats f******* rules forever !!! Brian has built this song picking words and riffs from Gene and Eddie classics as a genius (what he is) and then wrrrooooommmmm.....!!! Real stompa!!

  • the stay cats are not a rockabilly band!!

  • What are they?

  • As i have said they are a 70s band with a 70s sound! Along the lines of mud and Showaddywaddy Who have a rockabilly rock n roll influence! BUT that does not make it rockabilly!

  • dont be a dick paddy

ok number 1 the stray cats aint from the 70s ther from the 80s number to what planet r u on dude listen to rock this town and rockabilly rules that is rockabilly

i can see you obveusly know nothin about this band so dont comment on videos untill you have yur facts straight and one last thing of course this band is rockabilly u deal wif it
