  • dead HD... backup!

  • no it's Fine, ur HD is OK,

it's WD intellipark, an HD IDLE feature to save power, WD HD automatically parks the drive's head after 8 seconds of inactivity to reduce aerodynamic drag, enabling the drive to disengage read/write channel electronics to save power

there are Software to disable the "intellipark", just google it but im to afraid it will mess up my HD...so i just get used to it, wh have same HD.....

  • I have a WD32000BEVT Scorpio Blue and I have never had problems with it... Plus its never this loud like this model.

  • @BV93630360JUAN First that's a different model. Secondly, I've never had WDC not fail on me, so this is no surprise. Glad your data is fine, for now maybe.

  • lots and lots of noise. not to mention the spindle is way above normal speed in this instance.

  • your harddrive is dead, save the case, buy a replacement, put in there. make sure you get the right kind, IDE, or sata laptop harddrive

  • No, that's Idle3(or "Intellipark") I think. Mine did a very similar thing, kept spinning up and down, and lagging 3-5 seconds waiting for the platter to spin back up when I needed to access it. Idle3 is a very ham-handed attempt at saving power by Western Digital, and it made my WD5000BEVT almost completely unbearable to use.

  • cuanto tiempo tienes con el disco?

  • Es HDD va a morir... busca la factura o la garantía donde la hallas comprado. Si vas a comprar un HDD nuevo que no sea Hitachi ni Samsung!!!

  • ouch head crash on that and bad bearings... time to warranty it WDC will replace it
