No one said it was intended to substitute a fullsize monitor, but good luck carrying that around in a messenger bag with your laptop. I personally would carry an iPad around anywhere I would take a MacBook Pro, and I think the ability to minorly extend your screen on the go is nothing to scoff at. It's perfect for widgets or reference materials needed to compliment the work on the main screen.
