There should be a still of John in the foreground grinning and holding his bass, and the other three destroying equipment and twirling microphones in the background.
Only Keith Moon would go as far as to put explosives in his bass drum. lol, you can also see that on of his cymbals blew up in the explosion and cut his arm.
ha ha u all sooooooooooooooooo out of touch they always smashed there gear up it was well funny my dad seen them live doin it i'm 40 now whent to see im live with both parents but dont remember much only 7 @ the tome rip ox n john
The Smothers Brothers Show was the best. They were thenmselves and they let everyone else be themselves. And it all worked. It was *the hip* show of its day. Sorry Laugh In - you folks were second to Tom and Dick.
"this guitar has seconds to live!" should've been pete townshend's motto; i know it was a tagline for the who's "the kids are alright" film from 1979..
I'm "your dad's age" hahaha. I was watching The Smother's Brothers Show that night. I wanted to see The Who of course... But I didn't know there was going to be that ending! It made a big impression on me!
@goodgus This Who performance clearly wasn't live, yet is also not the studio recorded version. Does anyone know why this is? You can see Keith is not playing the drums, and making little effort to pretend he is!
The look of puzzlement on Tommy Smothers' face is unplanned...there was 3 times as much blasting powder in the drum as there should have been, and left Pete Townsend with permantly ear damage.
yeah i can play it, but there is only one john enwhistle. ive yet to see someone play that solo anywhere near the standard he plays it at. he is a once in a lifetime bassist, unbelievable.
