  • There should be a still of John in the foreground grinning and holding his bass, and the other three destroying equipment and twirling microphones in the background.

  • I love at the end when Pete takes the acoustic and smashes it.

  • Now that's a show

  • Only Keith Moon would go as far as to put explosives in his bass drum. lol, you can also see that on of his cymbals blew up in the explosion and cut his arm.

  • that john entwistle eye roll is possibly the coolest moment ever in music history

  • God save the Ox!

  • 17 sec, haha his face, fuck off

  • what year was this from

  • @pingsdk June 1967, just after the Monterey Pop Festival, where Tommy Smothers was an emcee.

  • Jeff Stein is not my friend after putting some text in the video that's in the way of the explosion...

  • ha ha u all sooooooooooooooooo out of touch they always smashed there gear up it was well funny my dad seen them live doin it i'm 40 now whent to see im live with both parents but dont remember much only 7 @ the tome rip ox n john

  • i love how pete is bashing the shit out of his guitar and john is just holding his like "fuck no, this thing is beautiful. i'm not destroying mine."

  • BOOM

  • The Smothers Brothers Show was the best. They were thenmselves and they let everyone else be themselves. And it all worked. It was *the hip* show of its day. Sorry Laugh In - you folks were second to Tom and Dick.

  • At 0.58 all of the cameras are on Roger and Pete, But after the first part of the solo the camera crews are like "What the Fuck! Who is this guy!"

    RIP The Ox.

  • at the end every one is breaking stuff and the bass player is looks like ''dont fuckin touch my bass'' haha

  • 0:58 to 1:16 = BITCHIN'

  • I love how John's like "get the fuck away from my bass"

  • I l-l-love-love this!!

  • I Loved Entwistle in this... es[cially near the end where his just clutching his bass to not want to smash it

  • "this guitar has seconds to live!" should've been pete townshend's motto; i know it was a tagline for the who's "the kids are alright" film from 1979..

  • John is unmovable. Respectable. And he even looks away from the bass while playing :O

  • @greengoblin250 I really really hope that was a joke....

  • Los putos amos!!!!

  • John sometimes looks like he doesnt even want to be there. lol. he rocks

  • I'm "your dad's age" hahaha. I was watching The Smother's Brothers Show that night. I wanted to see The Who of course... But I didn't know there was going to be that ending! It made a big impression on me!

  • this is what started hard rock these guys are amazing!

  • I love how john just sits there as everything is destroyed!

  • i just showed this to my dad and he said he saw it live on TV when it actually happened

  • it was 2'17

  • Cann someone tell me what actually happened and at what min i can see it ?

  • keith moon packed the drum kit with explosives.

  • Holy crap! John didn't even flinch when the drum exploded, he was sooooooo cool. That solo was awesome too

  • amazing just amzing

  • did that kid just fuckin say pete moon?

  • did that guy just say pete moon?

    oh my god.

    somebody please hit him,.

  • How did John Entwistle get that tone? i love that tone and solo haha

  • john just standing there :P

  • The names r Pete Townshend and Keith Moon, dont mix them up

  • @goodgus This Who performance clearly wasn't live, yet is also not the studio recorded version. Does anyone know why this is? You can see Keith is not playing the drums, and making little effort to pretend he is!

  • So was that staged?

  • The interview yes, however the extent of the explosion wasn't

  • @AirGuitarChampion werent that the explosion that left both the singer and the drummer partially deaf?

  • johns so laid back its insaneee

  • The look of puzzlement on Tommy Smothers' face is unplanned...there was 3 times as much blasting powder in the drum as there should have been, and left Pete Townsend with permantly ear damage.

  • Tommy Smother didnt even know there was gonna be an explosion

  • @AirGuitarChampion pete lost 90% of his hearing in his left ear form that explosion

  • dont even try to play that bass lol

  • I Just Learnt it Today

  • yeah i can play it, but there is only one john enwhistle. ive yet to see someone play that solo anywhere near the standard he plays it at. he is a once in a lifetime bassist, unbelievable.

  • Hell yes, right on

  • Those whacky who guys, they keep breaking things. LOL They must have holy terrors as kids.

  • Too cool this video!! They are really AMAZING!!!!

  • The Who's anthem!
