i love this song. i first heard this song aged seven in 1948 on my uncle's gramaphone that we used to wind it up having the photo of the dog and his masters voice. wow so much memory of my home town of nanyuki on slopes of mount kenya.
Although quite a bit before my time, I kike Kay Kyser a lot! I recently got a double CD called "The Best of Kay Kyser and his Orchestra". It's terrific! To see him in action keep an eye on Turner Classic Movies. Every once in a while they have a Kay Kyser movie on. Yeo he made movies too.
@Fabuladico I don't rely listen to this guy. I prefer Dean Martin and Marty Robins and I'm only 12 years old! I first herd them on the game Fallout New Vegas. What movies did he do and what are his best tracks?
@flik187 He was little before my time too, but I thought he and one his band members Ish Kibibble were pretty funny. His biggest hits were "Jingle Jangle Jingle", "Three Little Fishies (in an itty bitty pool)", "The Woody Woodpecker song", and "Zoot Suit".
His movies include "That's Right, You're Wrong", "You'll Find Out", "Carolina Blues", "Stage Door Canteen", and "Thousands Cheer". By the way, I like Dean Martin and Marty Robbins too!
@flik187 They are. Dino had a real way with music. He made it look so easy. He was really the king of cool. I like Dean's movies too. I get a real kick out of the Martin and Lewis films, but movies like "Five Card Stud" and "Rio Lobo" can't be beat.
Marty Robbins was another guy who sang every song like it was written just for him. The first song I ever heard him sing was "El Paso". It knocked me out, I'm not even much of a country fan! I don't know if he ever movies, but he did TV.
I used to travel the Mojave but then i took an arrow to the knee

I still have an old 78 rmp record of this song. Harry Babbitt performed the vocals, and the flip side is "He Wears A Pair Of Silver Wings."
