  • Sorry, I love the Shins, but they are the worst live band, ever. Old personnel, new personnel, they just don't perform Mercer's tunes well. It might be because Mercer's voice isn't meant for live shows, and his music is too nuanced for live performance. The end results are they just don't sound good live. But I own all their music.
