  • First time they played that was after Layne Staley passed and he dedicated it to him....what a great song to honor him with

  • I saw them perform this song at Music Midtown in Atl. my freshman year of college in 2002 and it was amazing!!!!! Like you Weiland7, I was too young to understand it but I knew It was an AMAZING song!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kinda makes you reconsider your love for the original!

  • Performed this song in Syracuse, NY as well. Hate to admit I was too young at the time to know what the song was but was blown away. Spent months searching the internet for a song about diamonds. Finally found it but could never find this rare STP performance. Ive been waiting since 2002... THANK YOU FOR POSTING!

  • From the first opening chord, I could not believe that STP was OPENING with this song. Such balls, but man, it worked.

  • Gotta give credit to STP not frightened to take on the big boys ..... i`m an old rocker (but not a retro wrinkly ) Led Zep are the dogs` and Gilmour is THE guitar hero ...but the Pilots cut it with Shine on... and Dancing days

  • grande version!!!

  • Saw STP in Tulsa in 2002, the best fucking concertI have ever attended. Got to hang out and chat w/ Rob and Dean Deleo before the show...such cool guys...treated me like I was an old pal.

  • Saw them open with this in So Cal for the Harley 100th Anniv.

So awesome...these guys take such cool chances like this!!

  • Was @ Hammerstein as well. Listening to this still sends chills down my spine.

  • Someone needs to upload some more 2002 shows, only a few are on youtube.

  • First itme they played this was Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC. Just after Laine Staley come up dead. It was a tribute to the beautiful man.

    Shine on you crazy diamond.

  • saw this in memphis 2002. ROCKED>

  • @berthut I was there also!!!

  • I saw them in Huntsville, AL in 02 and they opened with this song

  • @AdamR2251 I was at that same show in Huntsville it was the fuckin bomb one of the best live shows i ever saw!

  • I saw STP perform this classic at Midtown Music Festival in Atlanta 2002. They NAILED it. I couldn't believe they played it! I was in the front row. I was in a state of disbelief when I heard the first drones of the synth at the beginning. What a show!

  • I just- I just- just can´t believe it! Two of my greatest favourite bands ever and ever..! Floyd and STP conjugated into one delicious performance!

It´s something I would die to see live for!

  • @2azulmcqueen had the same reaction Lol !!!!

  • this is so awsome thanks for this i wish i could hear more live stp stuff from 2002 its hard to find i cant wait for the new record

  • Yeap...I was at this same San Diego Street Scene in 2002 and was floored when STP opened with this song and played the WHOLE entire song as an opener, and not just an intro to STP song. Blew my mind!! This was one of their best performances!!

  • @psan72 - Yep. I was there! It's all true, it was magic!

  • i dont know...

  • I saw STP on 4/20/02 in CT and they opened up with this. Scott mentioned that Layne Staley had died and dedicated the song to him. This was the first I and the majority of the crowd had heard.

  • I was at that show, and I was floored by this performance...it was a surprise, and they did it so well

  • yeah man. Saw them open up with this one at Music Midtown Atlanta 2002 as well. It was awesome. Great light/smoke show as well.

  • I was at that show too...if I recall correctly, not only did the cover kick all kinds of ass, Weiland's suit was pretty cool too...

  • Can't remember what he was wearing. I was up pretty close though near the center. Had this chick I just met up on my shoulders. She had just broken up with her boyfriend there and he was pissed. She got heavy though and I had to set her down.

  • good one.....

  • I remember seeing STP at Street Scene in San Diego 2002 and this was the opening song.

    Most likely this version.

    Stay high!

  • I saw them do this at Center City Fest in Charlotte that year. They mus have been doin this the entire summer. It was a great surprise.

They had 4 stages set up across the city and my girlfriend tried to make me go see No Doubt which was playing at the same time but I dragged her to this and I was within spittin distance from the stage...
