She landed this better than guys did back in 1999! Of course this was the only one, that I know of, that she landed this good, all the others her landings were definitely not 90 degrees

Today for a woman if this vault was done and it was done half way as good as this vault it would score high. If it was done exactly like this and the woman had another great vault it would be her's for the taking.

@dannyradar dunno, i've never seen her do a vault landing forward for me to judge and both her vaults are twisting - but if there's a gymnast competing today who could manage it it's her :)

She was one of the most powerful gymnasts ever. If you get a chance to see some of the 2000 Russia Cup training videos of her in the gym with her team, you can see how built she is.

@stevenh622 umm no because u flip urself completely oveer BEFORE you actually tuck so thats a whole flip.. and my bad she only does 2 tucks after.... so still handsrping double tuck! is three flips through the air..if it were 2.5 she would be on her FACE? you try... :) thankss because i do handspring front tuck vault and i know this,

See the numbers posted at the end of the runway at the last part of the video? 2.501 - a handspring double front tuck in the code of points. You can look it up online and view the PDF file that lists it.

Definitely the besy vault done by any woman ever. Produnova wouldn't have that string of fourth places is she was arond with the actual c.o.p. that's for sure

I think this vault is the greatest of Prod's day-but not of all time. Nelli Kim in 1976 with the first full twisting Tsuk for a woman, Retton's layed out Tsuk in 1984, Natalia Laschenova's Yurchenko at 1989 Worlds, and so on. There have been many 'great' moments. It's just not possible to compare 'greats' from one era to the next-different time frame, different equipment. I wonder what a powerful vaulter/tumbler like Nelli would have done on today's vault table?

It is a 7.1 difficulty vault. I think the closest vault to it is Alicia Sacramone's vault and that is out of a 6.5 DD.

na, the 2nd most diff. vault is a 2 and a half tsuk(6.7) alicia's is a 6.3.

How can you not love Elena with vaults like these? One of my all time favorite gymnasts! I don't know what did she get for that, but she'd deserve a 10 for the courage to try it! And she stuck it too! AMAZING!!!

Hey, this is just like the scene out of 'Stick It' except that Proudanova is doing it for real, without any special effects or camera tricks. She is so fantastic, she is the greatest.

In "Stick It" a woman really did attempt that amazing vault,it's just that the camera effects were for the drama.Mina was supposed to be the gymnast who did that vault in "Stick It" but Kate Stopper was really the gymnast who did it.If you put it in slow motion in "Stick It"(when she performs that vault) you can see when her hands hit the vault her her looks a little more orange.That's because her double had to dye her hair so she looks like Mina.

I admit I've only seen the movie once and haven't done a frame by frame, but I remember when watching the movie that I thought very few vaults were real. The random camera motions were most certainly not for dramatic effect...a slow motion double front vault would be dramatic enough. No way a random elite gymnast pulled it off without anyone knowing her name.

Actually her name was Kate Stopper. And those vaults were probably real vaults (well, most of them) because they had real gymnasts for this movie. I could make a list but if I do I might as well message but I feel lazy. No hard feelings. :S But I could make it for you, if you want. I'm afraid if I goin I'll just be rambling.

Are you referring to "Stick It"? In that movie, they said it was a handspring double front, but I think her stunt double or whatever actually did a handspring front and they just edited it to make it look like a double front.

No, the vault in Stick It was definatly just a fronthandspring front tuck. Actually it was one of the easiest vaults now, I haven't seen it performed by an elite in ages.

Would just like to add to this- it is highly unlikely that the vault was an actual Roche. Prod was a dynamo, at the top of her game, and one of the best elites in the world. And by the blatant, constant switching of angles in the movie, it's pretty obvious it's just a manipulated front tuck.

i was watching the special features and they had the girl actually do the full vault but on an intricate wire system. so really she didnt do anything.. but i think they said they didnt want to use a double because they wanted they figured a double in slo mo would too obvious..
