God, Marilyn was NOTHING like this character. I don't think Lorelei Lee is dumb though as she always gets what she wants and knows how to achieve her goals. But Marilyn was so much more intelligent and deeper than this character. Yet she was so good at playing this type of person (The girl in Seven Year Itch too), that people began to believe she was really like this! This scene truly shows the actor at work.

Maybe it was her whole persona, her personal story and ultimately her tragedy that sets her apart, but I think the women of that era were stunning and sophisticated,or they seemed it anyway.....

Some of them were hired for there looks alone and not there talent. A lot of actresses back then had someone who sang for them in movies and no one even knew about it. Marilyn of course sung her own songs. She had real talent.
