Once it was my land of dreams....i cant actually believe that finally i became a proud part of this historical, awesome land... i still have whole 4 years to enjoy there..... fingers crossed!!!!!!!
I consider as a privilege of studying in Peradeniya University (then called University of Ceylon Peradeniya). What a picturesque environment? After seeing these pics and listening to pandith Amaraveva , I now regret of not fully exploring this beautiful landscape while I was at Peradeniya in 70's
I never went to Peradeniya , " destiny " sent me to Yale in a far away land, but my fanaticies were all about "Sarasavi Uyana," Hanthana, and your great University.
Theme song of my fantacies was Mervyn Pereras " Me Nagaraya " .
May be when I disintegrate my elements will reintegrate and make a humanbeing who will be born in Srilanka and attend Peradeniya and live my fanatacies.
This video brought tears to my eyes.I did'nt study there but I used to walk there with my boy friend who studied at the university two decades ago.I came to the UK with my family and settled here.I really missed my true love and my country as well but my sweet memories still at university of Peradeniya.
Although I was not at Peradeniya, the hauntingly beautiful, deep, mesmerising voice of Amaradeva takes me back to my own youth and university life. It touches something deep in my heart and brings tears to my eyes although I no not why. Thanks for your wonderful creation.
Thank you for reminding me where my youth was born. I was at Pera from 1987 to 1993, the most troublesome time. However that time will never be forgotten. The explorer's club, Wala, Hamlet (street drama in which I played rosengrandt)) with Dr Halpe and Dr Haththotuwegama. Science faculty 50 year anniversary exhibition... so many memories. Hilda, Marcus, Arunachalam and Akbar.. the time spent. What we learnt. Now on the other side of the world still remembering everything like yesterday.
I am touched by your creation and the comment posted at the end of the video clip. I have watched this video many times before. The sweet memmories of Peradeniya mingled with the beauty and the serinity of the place is ever lasting in my memmory.
@harshamutu This is not quite a fact. Sir Ivor was influential in transferring the University to Peradeniya but many were involved in the process including the great CWW Cannangara , the education minister. The decision to establish a unitary residential university was taken as early as 1927. But it was realised only when Jennings was in sri lanka in 1942. So it is appropriate to say he was the first VC of the Univ. Peradeniya.
Peradeniya has definitely lost some of its grandeur. However, it is a university that can be transformed back to its original status with ease. I wrote to the new Vice Chancellor about that recommend all of you do the same.
Peradeniya is the best location in the whole country for a university. Ivor Jennings and others gave everything they had to make this a wonderful institute. Not only alums like me but every Lankan should help resurrect this university back to its original grandeur.
You are absolutely right. The entire Peradeniya has lost its beauty and to that matter the entire country has developed into a series of shanty type structures all over.
Cuz our leaders have been busy wheeling and dealing..
yeah it was a monkey! There were many roaming on the roofs and hanging on windows. I went to wash my hands next to the sinks which were near the windows and this monkey just grabbed my hand and started to shriek like crazy. hehe it was funny!
Btw the architecture of the university is absolutely mind-blowing! Simply love it.
I wish I studied more so I could have gone to Uni of Pera...:(( it looks soooo beautiful....now too late:(( anyways what a meaning to match the clips...
Please tell me how much will a person be paid if he captures "Prabhakaran" and hands him to the Sri Lanka government.
Hope it exceeds Rs. 100 000 000 000.
Please tell me soon. If it exceeds this amount and if the funds get transffered to the person's bank account without any difficulties I might be able to capture him!!!!!

A lot of Tamil people who attended Peradeniya and got free education have come to the US, Canada, and UK are / were funding the LTTE terrorism.
They have forgotten the good Srilanka did to them.
Instead want to kill us all to become like tamilnattu , where they have no free education, high illeteracy rate and where they manufacture superbugs.

Hi, yasithn:
I am Charlie and an old guy and about to retire.
I happened to watch your video and made my mind to retire there.
I started to research that area and found Botanical Garden which
attracts me very much.
I make it a rule to watch this every day to familirize it.
Again, good job.

The late Mr. Shirley De Alwis is the architect of the Peradeniya campus. The Alwis Pond is named after him.
Sir Ivor Jennings is the creator of the institution.

I am initially from Peradeniya and later visited other universities in a few different countries.
Peradeniya is very beautiful and is like a little Shangri-La.
Stupid people now have wrecked it. IT does not have the same Grandeur that it had long ago.
Education in Peradeniya is free of charge. Paid us even for food and lodging. Every where else, I had to pay for everything.
It is sad, people don't value when things are free.
