  • my all time favourite writer!

    A true visionary!

  • Thank you for this! This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you thank you thank you.

  • Great info!

  • great doc man

  • in march 2012 philip dick will be dead for 30 years. to honor his works i am re-reading his books and shorts. his spirit will live on in future generations

  • Wanna see what dick saw? GET YOUR HANDS ON SOME DMT!!

  • I just finished reading A Scanner Darkly and I'm going to read Man in the High Castle.. I can not wait :)

  • @n0elbush I don't know, but it can be purchased for a reasonable price on Amazon. This upload is a total copyright violation if the makers care to bring it up.

  • Does anybody know where I can find the Metz Sci-Fi Convention speech in it's entirety? I've been looking for years, I can't even find a transcript of it.

  • My personal favorite PKD novels: Radio Free Albemuth, Time Out of Joint, Flow My Tears the Policeman Said, Martian Time-Slip, UBIK, A Maze of Death

  • Just brilliant. This documentary was both educational (I knew comparatively little about PKD before watching it) and oddly inspiring. My thanks to the creators and uploader for sharing so excellent a piece on this fascinating man!

  • I appreciated some of his novels while I was a college student, but I don't think he had any special knowledge. He dropped out of college and he never read parts of the Bible that he said were so important--- very strange.

  • @fastfoodclowns You have no clue whatsoever about what your talking about. Over 3/4 of the worlds most influential people on this planet didnt go to college. College is for people who copy how others think they are not taught to think, I have been to University and college , I have not dropped out of a course I have done ... yet maybe in the future I will - who cares , does that mean what I say is not valid? does that mean the Buddha has no valid points? Jesus if you believe in such tales?

  • @JazzCity09 I am going to college right now, and i think i agree with what you're saying. i'd like to know how a person might learn to think for them selves. will you give me an answer?

  • A super well made and informative documentary. Thank you for posting!

  • Great Doc. I really enjoyed it. Actually watched it numerous times. Thanks.

  • Intra-Sensory experiences, not extra-sensory exp. Beyond our probable physical universe. Outside of our perception of space-time. We are NOW living a physical dream. Pay attention to Philip.

  • whts up dick!

  • @crossofthesphinx I'm afraid I'm going to have to take the Nazi cake here. The meaning in this context is 'as close to total and complete truth as possible'. As in there may be more facts about him out there but not many. The use is correct.

  • thanks dude: let´s just hope this is real.

  • His mother looks alot like Sean Young from Blade Runner.

  • @crossofthesphinx yes, it's also the title of a PKD novel, "the penultimate truth". nice comment!

  • @crossofthesphinx yes, its se the second to last. the ultimate truth can never be found.

  • Anybody else notice that Kleo Mini states that Dick and his sister were born in 1928 then attributes the death of Philip's twin sister to hardships near the end of the great depression describing America in 1938 not 1928, Jane died before the crash, Oct 1929, let alone the great depression. Just another shifting reality of Philip K. Dick I suppose.

  • " He gave a lot, maybe too much. He tied himself in knots, and then exploded, like a balloon" Anne R. Dick, widow of P.K. Dick

    Bangkok Johnny

    Royaume de Thailand

  • PKD is so awesome that he earned his own shelf of the science fiction aisle.

  • The man was a goddam genius

  • Great job....! I'll check out the rest.

  • Great job....!

  • Much appreciated documentary. Thank you.

  • Philip k. "DICK" HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

  • Is the entire Metz speech available to watch somewhere? Was the entire thing recorded?

  • I'm amazed, this is the best Philip K. Dick documentary I have ever seen... WOW! Thank you for posting baruyero, I can't say thank you enough, it's just an amazing post I have been hoping for for years.

  • Don't care for the silly framing device with the government agents but this is a solid documentary and a good intro to a cult SF writer whose work remains relevant to this day (nearly 30 years after his death).

    Kudos!

  • Fantastic documentary, cheers for posting matey!

  • If this was available for sale as a digital download I would buy it, tho having it free on YouTube is nice, just fyi. Keep up the good work.

  • The man was a genius.

  • Are tim powers and jim blaylock in this? I'm a former student of both of them and they would talk endlessly about spending their "wild years" with PKD

  • Thanks a lot. I love anything PKD related. Just strated watching...

  • I had no idea he made Blade Runner or Minority Report. I only knew he did A scanner darkly. : /

  • Coming soon, Ubik by Terry Gilliam...dont miss that one!

  • ...and 'total recall'....bladerunner was from the strory ....'do androids dream of electric sheep'

  • Wow. You managed to not only document fact regarding this awesome man, but in a style that makes it seem possible that Dick himself wrote the piece.

  • The Valis 1974 episodes...have massive overtones of state sponsored mind control...well at least imho.

The drugs is the easy get out clause and I don't buy it.

    thanks for the doc.

  • he took lsd

  • he didnt 'take' it- he injested it on orders from his neurophysiologist

  • speed, aspirin, heroin, cocaine...........

    u name it

    he even took Ubik

    safe when taken as directed

  • Wow! Great upload! I got introduced to Dick at school.

  • Was this shown on tv?

  • Amazing !!! 5/5

  • Great documentary!

  • some days i feel like life in america is becoming more and more like a philip k. dick novel.

  • NICE!

  • @mwells219 yes, more like PKD; absolutely like Thomas Disch!

  • @mwells219 but life in the world is becoming more and more like 1984

  • @mwells219 Actually more like a short story, The Mold of Yancy (based on Eisenhower), except there has been no one to credibly play Yancy since Ronald Reagan. When a new Yancy comes along, watch out!

  • @mwells219 its already there

  • @mwells219 Actually I think it is getting more like Max Headroom.

  • @mwells219 The UK too.

  • Good:)

  • thank you for posting this! the interviews with klio, powers, jeter, anne and the rest are invaluable. as others have found, writing (or making a documentary) about dick in his own style is problematic. thanks again, and good luck!

  • Ive been looking for this, thanks for uploading it!

  • @Bestial1985 You have not looked very hard. It is available for under $15 at Amazon. Maybe its the $ that is the problem.

  • His mom was beautiful.

  • Extremely impressed! Thanks. I wish you luck in getting this released. The thoroughness of your exploration is amazing. And i thought there wasn't much new that I hadn't seen. Bravo!

  • there is apparently more thats new that we arent allowed to see by the pkd estate.....check out the award-winning book "A Family Darkly" by anne mini that the estate is keeping from being published....

  • Excellent documentary, looking forward to seeing the rest!

  • Thanks! the rest should be already available. hope you enjoy it.

  • @baruyero We can, of course, assume you have cleared this with the copyright holders. Good job!
