this is da jammin remix from da death row singles disk 2, da one mixed by death row records is way better, they got Mike Mcdonald himself to record a 2 min solo at the end of da song
there is no warren g version, michael mcdonald wrote the song warren g copied all the music warren g owes his entire career to ripping off this song otherwise he would just be another nobody selling drugs or working at mcdonalds
@SummernlightningUSA - There is no denying that Michael McDonald wrote the original song. However just because someone said they prefer the Warren G version doesn't give you the right to assume Warren G "owes his entire career" to ripping off Michael McDonald. In the music world there is a thing called sampling. Warren G got permission from Michael McDonald and his record label to sample the song. Try to live life with an open mind, it might surprise you. Whats wrong with enjoying both versions?
love this version it was the radio version when above the rim came out ,i have it on tape. Are you using the original Micheal Mcdonald and Warren G remix or is this the same remix you have redone for us who remember it well.
I remember that too, not in great detail though since it was now a PAINFULLY long time ago! But IIRC it had the "proper" start, with the Bob James sample more prominent?
@gongfucobra It's a mashup of the original tune Warren G sampled ("I keep forgetting" by Michael McDonald") and the Warren G tune and a piano+pad outro of the melody. And what sounds like some sampled back cues... it is what it is.
Why do rappers say they "sampled" from other songs when in any other genere it would be stealing? Is it because they cant be held responsible because they have absolutely no musical talent and this is why they must steal everyone elses music and try to make it theirs?
@twiggy148 Because songwriters 'gave' their music away in the late 70's-early 90's due to radio. They really got screwed in this time. But for real, was anyone else but 'rappers' bringing their music to a new ear... at least in the 90's?
@twiggy148 I think your stupid, any other genre really doesn't sample or "steal",and how is writing poetry and turning the poet into a song talentless?
I'm assuming you're the cockmaster outside the convenience store smoking a blunt and eating nachos, always talking about your pimped out ride, but when it comes down to it you're rollin on your sister's little bitch ass hello kitty tricycle? This mix was PIMP.
This is not no Jammin Mix. I have the Jammix Mix on my Ipod plus many CD's. It don't sound like this at all. First of all it don't even start off like this. Unless this is another version.
The Jammix Mix happens to go a different way. Its one of my top 5 fav songs by the way. Warren G don't even sing the the entire vs on the Jammin Mix. I wish I knew how to post songs and stuff on youtube. And the end where Nate Dogg sings ain't in the jammin mix either. This ain't no jammin mix. I still like.
yup, you're right this not a jammin mix. I made it myself. I used the warren g - regulators, I cant remember because it was over a year ago I made this, but I think it was a select remix I used. The michael mcdonald vocals are from the original. The Warren G select mix had some periods where it was just the beat so I added the mcdonald vocals and just used a backspin on the turntable.
I did have found the jammin mix and its good too. Thanks for the feedback
Was there ever a version of Warren G's "Regulate" that used more than the tune, i.e. it actually had the "I keep forgettin'....." lyrics at the relevant parts?
I'm positive they used to play it on the radio years back, but I may just be getting confused with "Regulate" when it was big on air-time on regular stations, and "local" stations who probably played McDonald with this song at the same-ish time (damn, long time ago. :( ).
no youre right... there is definitely a version with the actual voice sample... ive heard it on the radio many a times... its actually the version i remember and was looking for here on yt now... i cant find it here on yt tho.. thanks for this upload wich comes closest :D
There is a version and it's called the jammin remix. You can find it on the UK Regulate single and it was on a Death Row records compilation recently, (I think Death rows Singles Collection)
@cl998 There was definetly a single released in the UK with Michael Macdonald, It was in the charts for a long time in about 1995, Don't know why it is not avaliable?
this song was already done remixed doin the same 2 songs before u did try not to do somthng others already did its called origanal duch bag

The original version is the version period. This is a hack job, can't believe Mike allowed this. Whats next remaking the remake?
