  • Best version on youtube.

  • wonder how this would one fare on a blind test comparison.

  • Finland <3

  • Sehr gut! Respekt!

  • Asians, playing Finnish music better than the Finns themselves.

  • My favorite interpretation of ending on You tube...right speed, great dynamics.

  • This is outstanding play =)

Specially in the end where it really matters, how it sounds as there is the essence of us.

Music it self is world wide free to play but it takes to grasp the essence of what they play. I give 11 out of 10 for this one.

Cheers chinese people. I salute you as friend, from the job you did on this one =)

  • Perfect *_* loved it to play this great composition as first cellist

  • Lim Kek-tjiang: Its is skilled presentation of most tough composition. Lim Kek-tjiang reminds of Karajan's careful and emotional conduct of symphonies. Lim Kek-tjiang has done exceptional job, in the same auditorium, in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA

  • These young and skilled Chinese (Taipei) professionals beat the tired, where-is-my-pension-already Euro-Finnish ocherstral salarymen and salarywomen by 6-0, possibly by even more! And that in the game the Finns themselves should know how to play!

  • Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää SUOMI!

  • This should be Finland's national anthem

  • Goosebumps indeed..

  • Goosebumps....

  • How knows Suomi ....... will feel the country in this music!

I know and love Finland very well ........ my two loved daughters are german/finish girls.

  • Finnish commets are just random tought of finns but this song here is played perfectly. I love to see it as world wide song because its really beatifull.

  • Ystävällisesti kirjoittakaa nimeni muodossa S****na.

    t: Saatana

  • I'm related to Sibelius!

  • @Sambbab how so? Im interested to know :)

  • @less01 my grandma's grandma's cousin! =D

  • This song describes history of Finland and mentality of Finnish people so well. Melancholy contrasted to undying hope and endless guts, humility combined to proudness of homeland. That proudness is the undying flame in hearts of Finnish people that gives the will to never give up in most desperate situations. That proudness is the reason for Finland being independent, unified nation despite all the poverty and enslavement it had faced. "Brightness of dawn dispatches the reigns of night."

  • Saatana paras laulu koskaan! Saatana itkua saa pidätellä saatana.

  • @Janneaschief älä raiskaa saatana- sanaa

  • bad camera direction :(

  • @wibli Eh boi. You sound like a man hu knows how to use a camera. I got a job for you. Hit me up. Peace 11

  • This piece of music is rousing, and makes anyone feel patriotic, finnish or otherwise, it is a beautiful piece of music, one of the best. I also like anitras dance by grieg, and La campanella by Liszt, and griegs piano concerto in A-minor, chopins scherzo no.2... u get the idea

  • Simply wonderful!

  • lol.. the little score from the director

  • Perfeito Show!!!!

  • 2:05 so fucking touching, makes me somehow me think our war history and independency.

  • Just perfect!

  • Finland! defended against great russia.... and got the independece

  • Wow, one of the best versions of Finlandia there is in Youtube.

  • @JohQx3 I agree. A very fine version!

  • AWESOME PIECE

  • I love this piece. Strong, bold, proud and passionate throughout. This performance is one of the very best I have heard!!

  • Great day for Finland!

  • i gotta say. this is more then national athem. it is just awsome piece of music. if we ever have seat in galactic goverment, this shuld be humanitys national athem.

  • 505 people show the world, that they wont obey under oppression :p (Finlandia lyrics)

  • I would love to hear that organ in the background in person some time. It looks like it would be fun to play.

  • o.o very good!

  • 3:37 just gives me the chills. So powerfull. Close your eyes and enjoy the music.

  • me gusta

  • This was one of the better versions on youtube. Slow enough at the beginning and fast enough in the middle.

  • @mmikkone Yes, I think that the only other version that compares to this (and is actually a live performance video) has the video about 1.5 seconds ahead of the audio. I think the horns and trumpets were a tad harsh in their exchange with the violin ascending line where they had those quick triplets. The microphones were a little too high so in the end when the music got louder, there was tiny bit of distortion. This is still a great version of it though.

  • GO FINLAND!!! HYVÄ SUOOOMIIIIII MAAMME SUOMI SYNNYINMAA!!!

  • @Peju85 Suomi synnyinmaa. Kyllä.

  • Good god, the russians haven´t got them...prickling under my skin. What a strong nation.

  • We played this my freshmen year. I loved it!!!! GO violas!

  • brought tears to my eyes.

extraordinary performance by the orchestra, even heard from the speakers of my laptop i must say this is probably the best finlandia-performance ive heard =)

  • Have to say, I love this interpretation. I often find the beginning too hard and ugly (can´t find better words), but this was neat yet powerful.

  • I love this version ....... beautiful performance......thanks for sharing

  • Almost perfect .... better than Neeme Järvi with the Gothamburg sym orch. Gibson with the Scottish national

  • Amazing performance!

  • Perfect!

One of the most beautiful songs of all time!

  • @xltrt

the cool thing is that IM 10 years old and im playing this in band at my school!!!

BUT, only half of it. I like it because im 25% finnish

  • @xltrt

  • Essa música é linda demais. É poderosa e envolvente.

  • Oh my god, this is good..

It sound even better when some other country member play it.

    Humble greeting for you.

  • @lintu25 exactly my sentiments :D

I couldn't believe my ears, that they could make it so goddamn perfect

  • Love the dynamic timpani!

08 December 1865 This day when he was born Jean Sibelius, that was the date and time God completed the beauty of the world.

  • @PelaajaMedia lol Teo :p

  • epic =) i am navive finnihs speakiin person.... mahtava tulkilkinta näin itsenäisyyspäivän kynnyksellä.... 6.12.

  • @wisecr samaa mieltä!

  • An amazing performance of a wonderful piece of music. Bravo!

  • good intepretation. Good timpany, copper instruments are perfect, snare instruments good the same up- and downset.

All with all: good performance. Difficult to play as a Asian, who must play Scandinavian piece. Great, real great.

  • Finlandia is the national anthem of Japan.

  • @RDCKM ....................What?

  • @RDCKM National anthem of Finland and not Japan's. The national anthem of Japan is Amaterasu Omikami.

  • @Nonie46

Finlandia is in fact not the national anthem of Finland, even though many (including me) would prefer that it was since.

And it is a great and pretty "patriotic" song to many Finns due to its lyrics (in the hymn version) and it having been used as a soundtrack to a legendary black and white movie named Tuntematon Sotilas (The Unknown Soldier) depicting the continuation war of 41-44.

The national anthem of Finland is a piece called Maamme ("Our land") composed by Fredrik Pacius.

  • @PuoskarinRuoska Thank you very much for giving the correction. I come to know Finnish history because of the singing group Yliopiluskunnan Laullajat who visited Iloilo City, Philippines sometime in the late 1970's. Indeed, it is a patriotic song like our Bayan Ko, which when sung, unites all Filipinos into action.

  • @RDCKM

  • @RDCKM Sure... and Japania is the national anthem of Finland...

  • @Amyna There was another one in here with an oriental woman conducting that was very good

  • @spacepatrolman What`s her name?

  • @namipussi i forgot her name that video is buried in my site in myspace under the name ondes martenot i dont have time to go through all that and the remants of it are in a play list i made in youtube but i dont remmeber which one

  • Tämän pitäis kyllä ehdottomasti olla Suomen kansallislaulu... todella vaikuttava ja eikös virolaiset ottaneet Maamme laulun ensin käyttöön?

  • Sdaly SIbelius was too good... he burned his last work in the fireplace of his house and died soon after. R.I.P the greatest musical genius of 1800 and 1900 centuries.

  • Great performance of this wonderful work.

    Thank you!

  • @ccsteamer CAN'T YOU FORGET POLITICS AND ENJOY A BEAUTIFUL MUSIC LIKE A CIVILIZED HUMAN BEING ???

  • @hjbpnb what he said?

  • I agree. Just enjoy this beautiful piece for what it is!!

  • Pitkään ollu jo siä mieltä että FINLANDIA maame lauluksi... Tehkää musta preessa ni vaihtuu heti ekana :D

  • @dcrypter87 Miksi musta pressa vaihtais kansallislaulua? lolololl

  • @mmaixx noh noh ;)

  • Tää ei oo mitenkää tekemisissä maailmansotien kanssa. Tää kertoo ajasta jolloin Suomi irtautui Venäjästä, orjuus ja vähäarvoisuus vihdoin loppui ja Suomi sai mahdollisuuden nousta jaloilleen.

  • @nicehax

Saudações do Brasil.

  • I want to play that organ!

  • Comment removed

  • fanatstic...nemuritor...

  • This is moving, because it brings the hard war times into memories...Sibelius was genius

  • Yeah!! This is how it should be played!!! There has to be feeling and passion! Great!!!

  • kyllä huomaa et suurin osa niistä suomalaisista jotka tänne kommentoi ei tajuu mistään mitää. Finlandia on ehdottomasti paras mitä täältä on ikinä maailmalle lähtenyt.

  • Tästä puuttuu vuvuzelat.

  • @PeXis

    ja jussi jokinenki puuttuu

  • Sublime!

  • With 'Finlandia' Sibelius mixed the fusion enter Ochestral Influenced music by Wagner for the opening.and more Sibelius brought Traditionnal Instrument for the them from 'Finlandia' :)

in 2004 the band Rock Progressive UK named Moslty Autumn adapted new version from 'Finlandia' in guardian the spirit original from Sibelius :)))

  • tähän kiteytyy koko suomalaisuuden syvin olemus..

  • EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT If only the UK had a national anthem as stirring as this.

    Taiwanin Sinfoniaorkesteri- Evergreen Symphony Orchestra,

minustä he ovat Taiwanin paras Sinfoniaorkesteri.

    Muuta... en ole Taiwanssa nyt.

En voi käy heidän konsertti. :((

(Minun suomea ei ole oikea hyvin.)

  • @spring11996 Hieno tulkinta. Hymni-osa ehkä hieman liian nopea minun makuuni. Voitko kertoa lisää orkesterista ja sen kapellimestarista.

PS. Puhut suomea oikein hyvin. :-)

  • Congrats on great quality sound recording s006221

  • Totta viserrät ;-)

  • @gwaur - This is so often the case with national anthems! If it survives History like say, the Dutch National Anthem - oldest I know of, it reflects strength and honour by itself.

(A little jealous in) Australia - Nana

  • Beautiful.

  • Finlandia is such an amazingly moving piece

  • i love this song :D my orchestra is playing this for contest tomorrow(:

  • Usually I like only if finnish orchestra play Finlandia, but this was terrific!

Still I think that Finlandia have to play by finnish orchestra.

  • @Nomena9 Huh? If you hear two world-class orchestras playing it without knowing which one is Finnish, can you tell it by purely hearing it? I doubt it. If Finlandia involves singing, then that's another thing.

  • it's my favourite piece : )

    short version....

    Awsome job!

    i love it.

  • bravo!

  • *applauds!* very awesome!

  • Mahhhtava! :)

  • Soli Deo Gloria!

  • tysm! 8D

i had a hard time learning this but now i heard it, it sounds awsome!

and can't wait to play it for a concert

  • THIS MUSIC IS WONDERFUL !! GREAT

  • käy se näinkin :)

sanotaanko, go sibelius, go suomi ;)

  • Hey, does anyone know what is the Sibelius piece from which a sample was used in The Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows"?

  • Amazing! Oh Finland my homeland <3

  • @inloggedsometimes They filmed dr. zhivago in finland close to the border of the ussr they couldnt film it in russia because of too many poltical overtones ironic that they fimed it in finland because sibelius was almost killed by rusian soldiers when they were in his house . .

  • I just saw the Newport Symphony Orchestra perform this piece and was utterly blown away! It's a great piece of music to perform-- thank you~

  • käyhän se näinkin

  • this is a good performance!

  • Maravilhoso!!!

    Simplesmente Fantástico....

  • Did the last timp. stroke go earlier or was just a conductor's wish? strange... in score timps & orchestra stop playing simultaneously.

  • nagyon szép szám:)

  • Epic!

  • Makes me want to cry listening to this. As a Finn, living outside Finland it just makes me feel so much like home every single time. It has all that being a Finn means in it!

  • I am a Finn living abroad in China (though I spent most of my life in Canada), and I feel the same way.

  • Always when I heard this it remnds me of war that Finland had against Soviet Union.

  • @Temetsuka a war which was won by Finland.

  • Ha, the timpanist reads the conductor wrong in the very closure and finishes before everyone else, because the conductor makes a confusing move. :-)

  • hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää :)

  • @Somnium92

    Kiinan vai Suomen ?

  • großartig
