I am college senior and have been working with Revit for the past 4 years. I have become quite familiar with the old UI but I think a change to this new one will not be nearly as bad as everyone thinks. The change from Office 03 to 07 was equally drastic, but I picked it up within a few hours of trying it.
Change isn't always bad, it's just different. Don't kill it before you've made an effort.
I dont buy the argument that its more intuitive, better organized, more streamlined, nor that it has faster access to tools and commands. Isnt that all the same thing anyway? Also, Im not sure how it allows for a larger drawing window didnt we just replace a one area for another to get a proportion less like a standard paper ratio?
It seems that the main driving force here is to have a standard Autodesk interface format, which is extremely disconcerting to me.
The first time I saw this ribbon tool was with microsoft office programs and it confused the he** out me. I gave up on Acad's latest version for the same reason and now Revit! I love Revit so I guess I have to give this a shot.
this change is half evil. The icons should be editable like the CUI in CAD, I finally gave up trying to leave the ribbon as is and reorganized it to use my other monitor, I wonder if they would create a data tablet interface, so no icons are on screen, like in the good old days of AutoCAD, before it was destroyed by the windows OS and icons cluttering up space.
I hate the ribbon in MS Office 2007 and after a few days trying to learn it, but being super-unproductive, i cancelled it and went back to Office 2003.
What happes if i need to do the same here, downgrading from 2010 to 2009? Office costs 130 euros... not the same for Revit.
Will Revit Italy fund me back thousands euros should I downgrade?
If not, I will need a lawyer to sue them.. and get some money back. I dont lose thousands euros without complaining at all...
I hate the ribbon in Office, now I'm going to have to hate it in Revit? At the very least, can't they give us our old menus and toolbars as an option?
this will push us into using shortcut keys because now all the tools will be buried in boxes and not always in the same place in those boxes.. the only clicking we will be able to do is what we put on the quick launch.. of course they can always modify the UI in the future.. i really like the project browser being wider and the only thing in the view window space.. autodesk is a great company..
Wow, there's quite a dramatic change in the menu layout. Anything unfamiliar would seem uninviting but if it's for the better then I'm willing to learn.
Dit was voor mij om het uit te proberen. Het was me wel duidelijk

They did it to AutoCAD 2009 last year, now they are doing it to Revit. Very counterproductive, in my opinion.
