  • For me number one is Dune and number two is Armor by John Steakley. The ones you have listed are all good but haven't you read any more recent ones? Or do you not care for modern fiction?

  • CAN ANYONE, think of some sci fi books that are about 200 pages or less?????, but avoiding "short stories" thankyou very much for helpful replies.

  • @bentotheclarke I recommendo you the next ones: The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard (about 185 pages) and The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells (about 162 pages)

  • @bentotheclarke The Haunted Stars by Edmond Hamilton, Nova by Samuel R. Delany, Man Plus by Frederick Pohl (246 pages actually), Galactic Patrol by E.E. "Doc" Smith (might be closer to 300 pages actually)

Feel free to respond if you want more suggestions because I will probably finish 2 or 3 novels by the end of next week.

  • @TKDLION me again, have you read any novella's, they seem to be fairly short with good reviews, the only novel ive read was ringworld and i enjoyed it alot but it took me awile to get through it, so i think i prefer space or adventure based books, did you finnish your novels? anymore sugestion's would be great , thanks again

  • @bentotheclarke In general I don't read a lot of novellas but one that I did enjoy a lot was I am Legend. It's much better than it's movie adaptations. It's an apocalypse type.

Berserker by Fred Saberhagen is around 250 pages. It is actually more like a collection of short stories woven into a novella. Some of the stories are better than others.

I recommend The Star Kings by Edmond Hamilton. Great story, book doesn't quite live up to it's potential. Not great but still above average.

  • @bentotheclarke I also prefer space adventure novels. Have you ever tried reading the Lensman series? I read Galactic Patrol and the sequel, Grey Lensman. The style they are written in is a little different from today's because they were written in the 1930s & 40s.

If you tell me a few of your favorite science fiction movies and I can suggest some similar novels. Have you seen Dune?

  • @TKDLION i've heard about the lensman series, it sounds a bit long for me at the moment, my vavorite sci fi films that i can think of are mission to mars, fith element, sphere, A.V.P, avatar, star wars-all 6, district 9, A.I, stargate, contact and red dwarf, i chose these because of there there storyline. i could read sci-fi that has comedy or gore in it aswell, ive seen dune- although i did'nt realy like the film, i liked the theories in it.

  • @bentotheclarke If Mission to Mars is one of your favorites I suggest that the next book you read is the Haunted Stars. It's very good and only 159 pages.

Stargate by Andre Norton (not related to the movie Stargate) 190 pages.

The Ion War by Colin Kapp. Runs 252 pages.

  • @TKDLION ive just finnished reading, The Green oddysey by philipe jose farmer, which i realy liked, apart from that, the only sci-fi ive read is, let the spacemen beware by paul anderson, a few short story's that i cant remember, and ringworld by larry niven, i loved ringworld but it was hard to get through, but diffinatly worth it. infact i'd recomend it if you hav'nt read it.

  • The Founder of PREHISTORIC CHANNEL has recently written his first thriller book. Aptly entitled "THE ICE GORILLA" The book is currently being looked at by movie executives in terms of turning it into a movie. The book is trying to sell 1 million copies to help convince the movie industry that this book should be brought to the big screen. Help make this book into a movie by Checking out THE ICE GORILLA @ Amazon.

  • Im reading 20000 leuges under the sea

  • Doubleplusgood.

  • Nice taste. I'm impressed.

  • Thanx! i´m an avid reader. Right now i´m reading Solaris. Since i haven´t read it completely i didn´t added it, but is fantastic. I read everything that comes to my hands including obviusly comic books, sci-fi, horror and suspence, etc. It´s a way to scape from our not so good reality from time to time.

  • It's funny. Sometimes when you're sad, there's no better way to cheer up than to read about someone in mortal danger.
