Great memories. Standing terraces, noise, noone ever liked coming to Ashton Gate..I grew up watching every home game with my old man in the Dolman. Then progressed to away games with a certain coach load of hoodlums. Fantastic days and far better footbal than the crap we have today.
Some real characters - Norman Hunter bites yer legs et al.
@Rickworld03 Fairly certain it was 1974. The replay was on a Tuesday afternoon because of the power cuts caused by the Miners strike of 73-74. The game was sold out even allowing for it being played on a weekday afternoon. The majority of that team had either come up through the ranks(Fear, Cashley Merrick and Gow et al) or free or low money buys(Gillies and Sweeney)
Watching this again I can't help wondering wat might have been had players like Paul Cheesley stayed fit? He was a proven goalscorer and would have made the difference At that time teams like Ipswich were taking Liverpool all the way to the last game of the season for the title, that could have been Bristol City.
Bristol City and Coventry you say Joe. I'll tell you something I was at every home match of Bristol City in the 78-79 year, and the only team who outplayed Bristol City at home were Coventry City, all the other teams struggled it's just that we couldn't score.
Absolutely disgraceful seeing the BC and Coventry fans celebrating after cheating to both stay up (9:01 mins) at the expense of Sunderland... and I'm a Newcastle fan so it just shows how vile you both are!
Have fun paying £2 million to King Kev- not quite such a messiah now is he. Maybe Mike "10 bellies" Ashleigh will foot the bill! It just shows what a gullible bunch of prats you Geordies are!
Great to see City's greats, Paul cheesley,Tom Ritchie,Norman Hunter, gentle giant Joe Royle just to name a few!!!good luck to the new era!!fingers crossed they shall return
absolute class! my late Grandfather was a Director at City in those glory years and what a privelige it was as a 6 year old to be watching us playing in the top flight..happy days!
wow ..! i cant explain how sad i feel watching this video it just brings back so many great memories all the great names and games and that.! alan dicks is a legend by the way. And has are time come around again i got a feeling we might just do it..?
Sorry to be an anorak but the FA cup games were from 1974,so that this should read classic cuts 1974 to 1979 other than that faultless.Great memories.
The footage of the cup replay at Elland Road was a real treat, I never thought I'd ever see that again. The same must be said of the 2 goals at Highfield Road in 1977, what a night. I will save and treasure this for ever!!! CITY TIL I DIE
I was a 7 year old boy in the crowed, watching these games. Gerry Gow was and still my hero. This bring great memoarys back and something to show my 7 year old boy now. Better than watching England play any day.
pure class,takes me back to schooldays,jumpers for goalposts,half time scoreboards,cheerleaders,terracing,east end,he,s here he,s there he,s every fu??ing where gerry gow,gerry gow!etc etc,smashing,marvellous!!
Quality bootleg, you just made my night. My first City game was 1976 & just renrewed my season ticket for the forthcoming season in the Championship. YOU REEEDDDDSSSSS
One of the best on here, wicked bootleg, brings a tear to my eye watching it, a new golden era was born 2 days ago, lets hope it matches up to this one!!!

What a great video, i wasn't around in those days but that makes me very proud to support Bristol City.
Any ideas if there is anywhere to purchase old City shirts? They look really cool.
